Video: Code Pink takes over the stage at Heritage event

St. Cindy’s just about out of absolute moral authority so they brought along a father of a soldier killed in action to shield them from the flak they’ll be taking for this latest stunt. The occasion was a Heritage Foundation panel on the war led by Fred Kagan, one of the architects of the surge, and featuring leftist bete noire Michael O’Hanlon. The woman in the first clip in the black dress and glasses is Medea Benjamin, of course; she and the Pinkos have traded their standard gear lately for “civilian” clothing the better to infiltrate events like these. Most of the fireworks come in the second clip although I’ve never heard of the woman involved in that scene.
If they just scream loud enough, if they’re just disruptive enough, if they annoy just enough people, maybe the troops will come home. Or something. Thanks to Patrick Ishmael of News Buckit for the tip.

I guess when you’re not important enough to be taken seriously by anyone, you have to try to muscle your way in to some venue with people who are.
The guy who was speaking over them in the mike at the beginning had the right idea. Drown them out. Take their signs and their notes. I suppose the Heritage folks get some points somehow for showing restraint, but part of me whishes they wouldn’t.
TexasDan on September 13, 2007 at 6:49 PM
Insane people with incorrect info. I think we should take up a collection to give them a time-out with some of their compatriots at Gitmo, have them serve them food for a couple of days and get human waste thrown at them.Probably would not change their minds but it would be entertaining.

I don’t know they look kinda aggressive for people who want peace.
terryannonline on September 13, 2007 at 6:52 PM
I find it interesting that every word was heard on the audio of the first clip and got louder as they were escorted off stage. (I would have done it sooner. Where was security).
How come we often can not hear questions asked of politicians by reporters, only their response, but we could hear every word of the Code Pink WacKOS?
Great sound system in that room…. :) :)
Nelsa on September 13, 2007 at 6:53 PM
I’m still trying to lift my jaw from my desk. Those conservatives are just too “tolerant” of those peace lovers. The panel and the audience should have stood and started to sing the Battle Hymn of the Republic or at least start clapping to drown them out.
Brat on September 13, 2007 at 6:56 PM
I wonder how calm and reasoned a pinko audience would have been in the opposite situation where Heritage folks showed up with a banner and multiple disrupting influences?
A few cream pies should be kept around for just such an occurrence as this.

Doesn’t the Heritage Foundation have security people?
And that clown isn’t old enough to have a son who died in Iraq.

I need but one word for Code Pink. Fascist.
(As an aside, why on earth was the Petraus hearing open to the public? It was being broadcast live all over the place. It served no good purpose whatsoever to allow Code Pink members in there.)
Just once, I want to see what happens if far-righties, all five of them, did this to the left. Just to see it splattered all over the newspapers and cable. And then say “No double standard, hmm?”

terryannonline on September 13, 2007 at 7:09 PM
I’m surprised they got in–it didn’t look like a huge gathering. Aren’t there name tags or security?
It showed common sense to get some women to escort the Code Pink coterie off the stage. I can easily see the CP’s starting a scuffle with a man in the hopes of railing against “brutality.” Conservative groups are going to need to have some women ready to do their security with this group.
INC on September 13, 2007 at 7:10 PM
They don’t respect the active dialog on which a Democracy depends. They just get to scream their BS without any obligation to listen to what the other side has to say. Admittedly, Sean Hannity is as bad about that, but at least he’s not egregiously rude in this way.

Someone should have simply got that screeching shrew in a giant loving bear hug from behind, picked her up off her chicken feet, and calming walked the withering creature out the door. Geez.

Yes, Medea pinko, good strategy. Crash a Heritage Foundation event and then start reading from a New York Times editorial.

Truth is we are to blame. Doesn’t someone have a list of their names or something. Could email them to security for every Iraq related event.
I watch archived Heritage lectures everyday, I wonder if they will cut this part out when they post it. I hope not. I also hope the panel takes a moment to discuss it.

How embarrassing for the Heritage Foundation not to stand their ground and throw those disgraceful nutjobs out into the street.

Did I hear right in Video 2: “What about the children?”
No matter the situation, it’s always the same talking points with the left. I don’t think I could have just sat in the audience and listened to that drivel. As others have mentioned, conservatives are too polite to these whack jobs in nearly every venue. If the GOP leadership, especially the administration, hadn’t been so deferential for so long, the whole “Bush lied, people died” and similar memes may never have taken hold. It may be time for the shepherds to tell the bleating herd to quiet down until the wolves are driven out of the pasture.

Wow, that woman in the second video wins the record for biggest lie about civilian deaths in Iraq!
We’ve heard 400,000, 500,000, even 650,000… but did I hear her correctly, “over a million”!? Watch your back Howard Dean, with rhetoric like that, it sounds like she’s gunning for DNC chairman.
I forget, did we learn she’s some sort of trust funder, which is why she’s able to spend all of her time doing this sh**, instead of working?

Son on second tour in Iraq, honorably serving this nation and making the ultimate sacrifice for all of us, deserving of our unilateral gratitude and respect.
Father hanging out with Code Pink leftist wackos deriding the nation that accepted his immigrant family, deserving of our unilateral derision and eyerolling.
Pre-Cindy Sheehan I would have given him the benefit of the doubt and chalked it up to grief, but no more.
deepdiver on September 13, 2007 at 10:14 PM
Well, I’m going to stake my claim to beating Code Pink in inspiring the most outrageous protest about the war. I’ve permitted a gay ex-herion addict to sleep in my basement and I’ve told him about the threat Islam is to gay people. The ex-heroin addict is also an ex-prisoner and rather muscular and threatening. He and his some of his thug friends happened upon a anti-recruitment protest at the local military recruiters. He started screaming that he is pro-war and accusing the anti-war people of being homophobic for aligning themselves with muslim fundamentalists. He managed to get attention from the passing college students and soon had fourteen people shouting pro-war slogans against the seven “peace activists”. The ex-heroin addict tends to like to solve problems by brawling. So, he invited the “peace activists” to fight him. I’m sure the word “pussy” was uttered. At which point, they gave up their slander the military vigil for a short while.
I don’t approve of bullying, but it’s hard for me to not find this whole situation that I inspired pretty damned funny. It’s not like the “peace activists” are interested in serious dialog. They’re just spoiled children taking a tantrum in front of the military recruitment office.

“On August 24, 2004, Lance Corporal Alexander Scott Arredondo was killed in the line of duty in Najaf, Iraq at the age of 20 while on his second tour of duty.”
When Carlos found out his son was killed it was on Alexander’s birthday.
http://search.boston.com/local/Search.do?s.dateRange=&s.si%28simplesearchinput%29.sortBy=-articleprintpublicationdate&s.sm.query=Alexander+arredondo&s.tab=globe He thought the Marines came to bring him good news. When he was told that Alexander was killed, Carlos set himself on fire. I know Carlos, he is a decent man & well loved in the town where I live. He has had his grief co-opted by these freaks. They zeroed in on him shortly after he was released from the hospital. This is so misguided & deeply unfortunate. This is a very good man….the people he has allowed to surround him are not.
lobosan5 on September 13, 2007 at 11:49 PM
I wish to add that Alexander believed in what he was doing over there & was very proud to be a Marine.

CCRWM on September 13, 2007 at 11:52 PM
You know I am going to be the voice of dissent here. I am no fan of Code Pink but I oppose the war, and I don’t understand why people in the GOP repeatedly shield the people responsible for this mess in Iraq.
It’s interesting how Laura Ingraham, who I admire, has written a book telling the population to hold our elected officials responsible, yet when it comes to the war the partisenship on The Right takes over and people fawn before the President and the Iraq group, those responsible for these Foriegn Policy decisions. It’s really so hypicritical, it’s really troubling to me.
People are so ready to respond with those typical Neo-Con talking points about how we are already there, the damage is done, what do we do to move forward, the typical rah rah spin about Saddam Hussain, but what about accountability?
The GOP has always stood for accountability, it’s really shameful. And if you dare to question the mistakes of Iraq, you dare to even bring it up, you are verbally stoned, called a traitor, you have to endure personal smears and the name calling from posters who do not even really know you. Or the behavior of the Democrats is thrown in your face, which doesn’t have anything to do with it. As Bill O’Reilly says, and he said it tonight in fact, explaining away bad behavior while pointing to other bad behavior is ridiculous.
It’s unsetttling, I fear this war will be the death of the GOP.
AprilOrit on September 14, 2007 at 12:41 AM
Yes, and if we just to love each other better, those darn Muslim terrorists will just go away!!
As long as there are Democrats like Deval Patrick and people like you AprilOrit, the Republican party’s future is good if there is a planet on which to have a future.
thuja on September 14, 2007 at 1:05 AM
I mean I am reading some of these comments and I thought I took a turn on too Daily Kos…bloody noses, tasers, and yes Medea Benjamin is a jew, sigh.
Her real name is Susan, and she does come from Long Island. Her father was an executive in the garment center.
Like David Horowitz I think she was also raised by idealogical Jewish Socialist/Communist parents. That behavior was common in some Jewish households, (although not mine or my relatives, we are very low-key and very middle of the road), they are either extreme Left leaning like Horowitz and Benjamin’s families or extremely Right Wing and followers of Meir Kahane and the JDL – like Debbie Schlussel.
We’re a passionate bunch, what can I tell you, Judaism is more than a religion, it’s a traditional way of life. But what is really ridiculous is the fact that Medea Benjamin was able to get into the Heritage Society, that in itself is insane, where’s the security? Talk about high drama, she should have been stopped at the door and politely escorted out and it all could have been avoided. It all seems so alcoholic, why were they allowed to continue their rant on private property?
AprilOrit on September 14, 2007 at 1:18 AM
Again, Far Right talking points…I know all about them I am a NY jew, I was here for the WTC both times, my friend Michael’s dad was killed the first time around, my family knew people who lost friends/loved ones the second time around. I know all about arabs, you do not have to tell me anything about them that I do not already know.
However, the people in Iraq didn’t attack us, the planes were manned predominantly by Saudis, so stop while you are ahead.
AprilOrit on September 14, 2007 at 1:24 AM
Such hysteria!
Such angst!
So much like a Hollywood movie!
Where is Glenn Close?
Where is Sean Penn?
Where is George Clooney?
Where is Carmen Diaz?
Where is Tim Robbins?
We need to get these left leaning, Bush hating people in a movie to dramatize that event!
No, they couldn’t carry it off. They are not skilled enough actors to pull it off. It takes CRAZIES, who have not respect for others, but who think that their own opinions and passions trump the concerns of others, to pull off such a screaming display of mentally deranged propaganda spewing!
Those two clips were rather difficult to watch, because the presence they projected was one of discord, confusion, condescension, dishonesty, and rudeness.
William
William2006 on September 14, 2007 at 1:38 AM
Exactly and it all could have been avoided if they were escorted out by security; very simple nip it in the bud from the get go. Why would anyone want that kind of negative drama anyway?
AprilOrit on September 14, 2007 at 1:46 AM
I’ve seen very little “shielding” happening here and on other blogs, and plenty of criticism “for the President and the Iraq group” (the Iraq group? You mean the Iraq Panel, or the military over there?). But all in all, I think instead of “fawning”, most of us support the overall mission and reason(s) for being in Iraq and Afganistan.
Accountability? What are you wanting to account for? The made up numbers of civilian deaths? The death toll of our guys over there? I won’t bore everyone here with another recitation of why we need to be there. And how war is a very bad, but sometimes necessary thing.
Mistakes are made in every war, and they often cost lives. Sometimes lots of them. Read some history on World War II. It’s not the mistakes that count in the end, it’s how you correct for the mistakes and carry on that matters.
As for the rest of your post, you probably ruined any point you tried to make at the first. The behavior of the Democrats have nothing to do with it? Did I not see the word hypicritical [sic] in your post?
El Cazador on September 14, 2007 at 1:52 AM
I’d like to see how “tolerate” Codepinkos would be if a conservative group crashed their little party.
The second women said something about babies not being abled to be carried full term, since when does the left care if a baby is carried to term?
Their such Hypocrites!
Irenaeus on September 14, 2007 at 2:01 AM
Wow. Unbelievable, not only that they invaded a private meeting and wouldn’t shut up, but that the panel stood by and let them get away with it.
When I heard the, “grieving father,” make a statement about his, “first amendment rights,” I started screaming at my monitor. The first amendment now allows people to go, uninvited, to a PRIVATE meeting and disrupt it? NOT!
They should have been booted as soon as they began.
JannyMae on September 14, 2007 at 2:05 AM
Ah, Left Wing talking points…so much…better, eh?
And, I’ll bet you really don’t know “all about Arabs”, but only know what your parents and relatives and maybe neighbors have told you. Quite the tinted filter there. How long did you study in Tel Aviv? Any? Arabic Studies here, perhaps? No?
El Cazador on September 14, 2007 at 2:06 AM
So I misspelled a word? I’m confused.
Your deduction is really insolent – this is exactly what I mean. Your high-hattedness is staggering.
AprilOrit on September 14, 2007 at 2:10 AM
Exactly, why allow it to go on? So you can film it and then throw a hissy fit that it happened? Who’s accountable for not showing them the door or not accountable for showing them the door in the beginning of the charade?
AprilOrit on September 14, 2007 at 2:51 AM
“If they just scream loud enough, if they’re just disruptive enough, if they annoy just enough people, maybe the

Heritage Foundation was much too gentle with them, IMHO.
georgej on September 14, 2007 at 4:00 AM
The Hertigage Foundation definitely was too gentle with these people. I don’t understand why they didn’t vet them better. I noticed the second “lady(?)” had some sort of badge around her neck. Can these idgits at least be charged with trespassing?
Like the one guy said…their tactics just don’t do their argument any good.
JohnnyD on September 14, 2007 at 8:21 AM
Couldn’t happen. This was a quiet, deliberate academic analysis of the question. The left doesn’t do intellectual, only emotional.
Longhorn Six on September 14, 2007 at 9:03 AM
If conservatives pulled off something similar there would be bloodshed. The actions of the Heritage crowd show the civilized nature of a mature group that is truly trying to find help for such troubled people as seen in the videos.
MSGTAS on September 14, 2007 at 9:22 AM
Okay my friends I’m still fuming since my post last night
and even more after seeing this so I must rant.
My husband, who normally works out of our house and doesn’t get the everyday dose of road rage or exposure to the general public that I do keeps asking me all week, because he went out on some customer calls, “There’s a lot of angry people. Why are people so mad?” My only answer is “Because of what the Democrats are doing and saying.” He also wonders why I’m so mad and I have to tell him about incidents like at Heritage and around the country on 9/11. He thinks he doesn’t need to see them, but I tell him he really needs to see these people in action.
So as of hitting “Submit Comment” when I complete this comment, I will embark on an internet, TV and radio free weekend (except maybe a few NCAAF or NFL games, but no NBC because of that lunatic, no ESPN because of Cornhiser and their constant mention and interview with Ray Lewis on the sidelines last night during MD vs WV game). See how easily I’m angered these days?
I’ll relax by pulling weeds and the last of the tomato plants in our garden, plant the fall crops, observe the last of the hummingbirds fighting over our nectar feeders before they begin their long trek southward, and maybe we’ll take our 150 lb. pumpkin to the County Fair and enjoy some old-fashioned fun. I doubt it will happen but if I encounter a nutroot pinko at the Fair, I will not be silent like that Heritage audience. I will begin shouting USA!, or turn one of their anthems on them by singing a few bars of “We Shall Overcome!” or maybe in honor of Laura Ingraham, shout out the chorus of “Power to the People.”
One last note to my fellow commenters. It’s only going to get worse from the left. Our greatest power against them is our vote. Go vote your heart out in your primary. Fred! RUUUUDY!, MITT!, McCain or any others. I don’t care. Just vote. And no matter who the nominee is in November, go and vote for whomever has the R next to their name. Don’t sit this one out. A Republican President will be the only thing to keep us safe and sane for the next 8 years!
Thanks for reading. See you on Monday.
Brat on September 14, 2007 at 12:39 PM
Links to AQ. WMD’s. Keeping WMD’s away from “people” more than willing to use them in a heavy populated area. BTW, WMD = NBC (Nuclear, Biological and Chemical) weapons. Whether Saddam had nukes can be debated but there is no doubt Saddam possessed and had used biological & chemical weapons. Check it out. I’d rather be proactive in keeping those kinds of weapons away from terrorists.
Before I hear any more about how mistakes were/are being made I would like to point out no one on this planet has walked on water in about 2000 years. Personally I think the military has done of a heck of a job. 4 plus years of country rebuilding with as few casualties is impressive. Never before in the history of warfare, especially considering the tech involved, has this few people lost their lives in such an endeavor.
Isolationism or a group hug won’t protect us. That is MY TALKING POINT!
