Update: The detail about the backboard made me think he’d had some kind of acute spasm or something, but now the AP is saying he was “delirious” when he got to the hospital. Hmmmm.

According to the Amtrak schedule, it is a 27+ hour trip from Emeryville to Grand Junction.
