Sure. Doonesbury trashing the Troops is just “free speech.”

The Doonesbury strips aren’t intended to be mock the military. When BD (a regular character) lost his leg in Iraq many people found it poignant.

Garry Trudeau (the cartoonist) was invited to Kuwait during the Gulf War by a commander who had read Doonesbury in Stars & Stripes in Vietnam and thought the cartoonist should meet his men. At the request of Army Chief of Staff Gen. Gordon Sullivan, the Pentagon assembled a show of strips to tour in theater. He was given two medals of commendation from different units in Kuwait.

I’m kidding… jounalists are actually pussies. Especially lefty journalists (is there any other kind?) – they are afraid of their own shadows. The only things they have enough balls to criticise are those that can’t possibly hurt them, like dead Christian preachers. If their editor asked them to rag on someone actually dangerous, like terrorists, they would pee in their little panties.
