They are bureaucrats, and that is all they intend to be; they would rather hinder the real protectors (Law Enforcement officers, Border Patrol Agents, FBI, NSA etc.) than to actually work to protect Americans from foreign menaces.

Question for the vigilant Michael Chertoff: How did a man with a past arrest on terrorism charges get into the US?

He came in via an airport instead of crossing the U.S. Mexican border, which surely would have been his down fal because the Border Patrol's mission is to stop terrorists... We have to bait terrorists into falling into the waiting trap that is our Southern border.
