Geraldo: I’d spit on Michelle if I saw her

Perfect. Now I want you to go watch this clip from Cavuto’s show last week; skip ahead to the middle to hear him whine about how “this kind of personal, kind of gutter rhetoric is the product of this hate campaign directed against illegal aliens.” I wonder if that segment was taped before or after he was relaying his fantasy about spitting on my boss to a Globe reporter.

Let’s get something straight, mustache. No one, no one is more vicious in demonizing its opponents than the open borders crowd, be it the bottom feeders at the Journal who toss around the word “nativist” because we won’t indulge them their desire for quasi-slave labor to our friend KP who reduces the anti-amnesty position to some primitive racist impulse stemming from fear of brown people all the way up to you, now so sick with your own fake virtue that you’re talking openly about a form of assault. Every time you or your pals complain from now on about “hate,” I’m going to be here with this quote. You’ll never live it down.

Here’s another clip, from April 13 of this year. Skip ahead to the middle. What happened, champ? Had dry mouth that night?

Update: Actually, don’t skip ahead to the middle. Skip ahead to about 40% in, when Geraldo unloads on the Black Panther who called Michelle a “whore” on the Factor the week before. He’s a “bully” and a “creep” for having said so, declareth our chivalrous hero — four months before threatening to use her as a spittoon.

You stay classy, Geraldo.

JammieWearingFool on September 1, 2007 at 12:08 PM

Muy macho, Geraldo. Muy.

PatrickS on September 1, 2007 at 12:11 PM

He must be furious he is losing the debate to someone smarter, younger, and prettier.

wryteacher on September 1, 2007 at 12:13 PM

You’re such a tough wimp of a guy Geraldo.

SPIFF1669 on September 1, 2007 at 12:14 PM

The appropriate remedy for this would be Geraldo being terminated by Fox and Michelle getting his timeslots.

JammieWearingFool on September 1, 2007 at 12:15 PM

A statement like that says it all. Nobody will ever accuse Riviera of having class. The lefties are loving the way this guy is negatively effecting Fox News.

volsense on September 1, 2007 at 12:15 PM

If Michelle keeps her cool, she’s within spitting distance of owning a couple of mansions and 36 foot speed boat.

pedestrian on September 1, 2007 at 12:18 PM

Yeah saw this on MM’s site. Was amazed this came out of his mouth. Are Geraldo and MM Fox employees? Why should she have to be harassed at the workplace like this?

Macho Geraldo saying this to a woman is unbelievable.

He better damn well apologize, and sincerely.

Now off to tell Fox the same thing.

JiangxiDad on September 1, 2007 at 12:20 PM

Do you think he is doing this on purpose to create some interest in his failing show? I cannot believe that he has any higher motives than self interest.

jeanie on September 1, 2007 at 12:20 PM

Jeez, Geraldo. Spitting on Michelle? Next thing you know, you’ll be burning the American flag.

BobK on September 1, 2007 at 12:20 PM

Spit?

It would never get through the ’stache.

Why should we not disapprove of people invading and robbing our country?

What about Legal immigration El Dorkman?

Why do we have laws if you do not take them seriously?

A country without secure borders is a just a revolving door for thieves and an open invitation to terrorists.

Geraldo is living in Laputa.

profitsbeard on September 1, 2007 at 12:21 PM

come on gerry, even though you may hate Michelle Malkin, spitting on a woman is just horrid.

zane on September 1, 2007 at 12:22 PM

Geraldo. No respect for the law. No respect for women. No sympathy for victims of illegal immigrants. I like this idea:

The appropriate remedy for this would be Geraldo being terminated by Fox and Michelle getting his timeslots.

JammieWearingFool on September 1, 2007 at 12:15 PM

Geraldo need to apologize muy pronto, or perhaps we start an e-mail campaign directed at FOX News.

He better damn well apologize, and sincerely.

Now off to tell Fox the same thing.

JiangxiDad on September 1, 2007 at 12:20 PM

Yeah, like that.

Ordinary1 on September 1, 2007 at 12:24 PM

As a gentleman who doesn’t want to be banned, let me say that my response to Jerry Rivers would get me banned.

steveegg on September 1, 2007 at 12:27 PM

In a perfect world Geraldo would be out washing dishes in some bar where nobody knows his name. Cheers!

Guardian on September 1, 2007 at 12:27 PM

My Goodness.. so pretty, so dainty, such womanly grace and that goes for Michelle too.

GoodBoy on September 1, 2007 at 12:27 PM

The media always portrays the Left as hyper-intelligent, concerned and compassionate. But you can tell when they are exposed for what they truly are: doorstop-dumb, reactionary and seething with hate, by how loudly they bray and name-call. Great work, Michelle.

Halley on September 1, 2007 at 12:27 PM

Nice post allah. You’re defense of Michelle is an honorable act. Girlado is sick and twisted. You’re right to come across as peeved.

What’s scary is that he is a media figure with many followers (as libtarded as they may be) and if he’s saying he’d spit on her … what must the other loons be fantasizing about doing to her? What an example.

wytammic on September 1, 2007 at 12:29 PM

Well, I just want to say that many readers on Hot Air called this first. We knew Geraldo was a class-A-ass. Glad to see the staff at Hot Air can now call Geraldo for what he is, though I do understand you have to remain professional given Michelle’s work with FOX. But don’t cozy up too much with FOX.

FOX NEWS needs to clean up it’s act. Several years ago it was apparent that FOX was becoming a tabloid news station and their coddling of Geraldo is evidence that they continue on in that trend.

FOX–get rid of your sensationalist-cult-of-my-own-personality employees. That means: Shep Smith, Geraldo, and God love her–Greta Van Susteran. Although in Greta’s case, it’s more a matter of her show than her. A show that constantly grinds on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on about the same murder case. Leave that for CSI and Law and Order Greta. The Natalie Holloway case was tragic, but good Lord almighty, if I heard Greta say Natalie Holloway one more time I was going to scream.

Any way, back to the case in point:

Geralo is to FOX what Rosie O’Whacko was to the VIEW.

Montana on September 1, 2007 at 12:30 PM

Hmmm…..

You know, I’m pretty sure that a conservative Fox News Channel commentator saying that he or she would spit on a liberal colleague at the same network…….Pretty sure they’d have ample grounds to be fired. I’m also pretty sure that the left would demand it.

Pretty sure also that Geraldo should be fired over this.

O’Reilly better not let him off the hook. I mean….he had better let him have it. This is unacceptable. An absolute disgrace.

I agree. Letter and e-mail campaign. Now.

I’m actually really happy. He’s shown his true colors, and has now lost the ability to ever speak from a position on the moral high ground again.

I’ve no words suitable to describe my contempt for him.

Hawkins1701 on September 1, 2007 at 12:33 PM

You just TRY to spit on Michelle. You will find that stache crammed somewhere your head is obviously already REAL familiar with. There are scads of us out here that would take up for our Michelle. Spitting is the realm of children, you hopped-up git.

tickleddragon on September 1, 2007 at 12:35 PM

He has officially and totally DQ’ed himself in my mind. Vile and unmanly at the very least. I am off to tell Fox that when he is on I will not be watching ever again.

bbz123 on September 1, 2007 at 12:35 PM

I’m perfectly willing to keep the debate about Americas national sovereignty civil, but if the other side is going to call me a nativeist/racists, or even just imply it, then I’m going to start calling them what they are: traitors. Is there a better term to use to describe somebody who has turned against their own country, even if they didn’t do anything explicit like sell secrets to enemies? Sedition? What is a practitioner of sedition called? Seditionist? I honestly don’t know very much about that area of the English language.

I’ll keep my opinion about Geraldo’s spit private for now, at least until I read the thread and find out if anybody has been banned yet.

FloatingRock on September 1, 2007 at 12:35 PM

He better damn well apologize, and sincerely.

Now off to tell Fox the same thing.

JiangxiDad on September 1, 2007 at 12:20 PM

If he doesn’t apologize, and Fox takes no action against him, I suspect I won’t be alone in losing what little respect I have left for Fox News.

infidel4life on September 1, 2007 at 12:36 PM

Very sad. What else is there to say?

itzWicks on September 1, 2007 at 12:36 PM

Racalling some of the Big A’s comments from another Geraldo thread ….
-
It doesn’t seem like Geraldo is as worried about getting along with Michelle on Fox News as we are worried about her getting along with him.
-
Sigh- I suppose it’s always better to take the high road, as difficult as that is sometimes.
-
Simply thinking about Geraldo makes me want to… Must. Stop. Now.

Herikutsu on September 1, 2007 at 12:37 PM

Vile ugly pathetic misogynist….
and completely unprofessional.

Tru2my2 on September 1, 2007 at 12:38 PM

I never cared much for him anyway but to say this about Michelle, just ticks me off! FOX should drop him. Oh, but that would somehow be racist.
I can’t figure out, at what point these people(illegal) supporters stop using common sense and only “act” on their feelings? or do they even have common sense?
Sharpton a great man? there’s your delusion!

abinitioadinfinitum on September 1, 2007 at 12:38 PM

I don’t want the guy fired. We can give as good as we get. Besides, he’s an endless source of material.

Allahpundit on September 1, 2007 at 12:38 PM

Wow!
That is disgusting that he said he would spit on MM.
Apparently, this man has no restraint on what he says.

terryannonline on September 1, 2007 at 12:39 PM

See, I wish I could be offended by Geraldo, but I just find it too funny that he’s haplessly flailing like this at Michelle. I know she’s your boss Allah, so you feel obliged to take it seriously, but I can’t help but not, he’d never spit at her, he doesn’t have the stones to do it, he’s just displaying his impotent rage.

Bad Candy on September 1, 2007 at 12:39 PM

AP,

As long as you and Bryan have MM’s back, she will be just fine. Very well written.

realVerse on September 1, 2007 at 12:39 PM

Thing is, a large part of the anti-amnesty crowd shows more than a little bit of racism.

Big S on September 1, 2007 at 12:39 PM

Who’s got the link to send Fox News a message on this?

Tru2my2 on September 1, 2007 at 12:40 PM

What a repulsive statement. A man that would spit on a woman for challenging his ideological position is no man at all. Spitting on someone is just about the absolute lowest form of human expression. I retain no respect for him.

Spirit of 1776 on September 1, 2007 at 12:42 PM

Who’s up for a protest in the Geraldo Rivera lounge at the Student Rec Center on the University of Arizona campus? Seriously. I’ve been there. It’s a couch and a couple of chairs, and a view of the pool from the 2nd floor.

If the windows opened, it’d be perfect for spittin’.

Nethicus on September 1, 2007 at 12:42 PM

OT, here is why PETA isn’t making a big deal out of the Vick thing. They advocated exterminating all Pit Bulls several years ago. Here is editorial the PETA president put out in 2000

Allahpundit on September 1, 2007 at 12:38 PM

That is a good point. Perhaps he won’t be canned, but I suspect when his contract is up, he’ll be back playing footsie with Olberdunce.

JammieWearingFool on September 1, 2007 at 12:43 PM

Man, you people are getting way to worked up. Geraldo serves as a good example. His panicked, mindless, shameless shilling for open borders under any circumstance works to our benefit, he’s more useful to us as a demonstration that the open borders/amnesty crowd have nothin’ but emotion and demagoguery than he is fired, unless he goes off the deep end when he gets booted.

Bad Candy on September 1, 2007 at 12:45 PM

I believe spitting on someone is considered a hate crime.

I guess saying he would like to spit on Michelle is that Hispanic “machismo” thang. Disgusting.

moonsbreath on September 1, 2007 at 12:46 PM

I’m emailing Fox this quote from the Globe to ask then if he is the sort of person they want representing their organization, a man who would spit on a woman on the street simply because he disagrees with her. I suggest you all do the same.

TheBigOldDog on September 1, 2007 at 12:48 PM

What’s the difference between Geraldo and a cobra?

One strikes innocent victims and spits poison; the other one is a snake.

Sorry for commenting twice on this topic. This just gets me so ticked off. Well, off to write my letter to Fox.

Bad Candy has Jerry dead bang: Impotent Rage.

That’s my new nickname for Jerry.

Merovign on September 1, 2007 at 12:58 PM

Geraldo is going to find his suits smeared with mucous over the next few weeks. This is the kind of thing that motivates “non-spitters” to expectorate one for the team.

Juvenile (and gross) hint:

Spit your gob into your hand and fling it onto Geraldo from behind while making a normal gesture like opening up a newspaper or opening/closing a zipper. He will never know what hit him!

astuddis on September 1, 2007 at 12:58 PM

1) Anybody who would spit on a woman should be fired

2) Statements like his are an inducement to violence. What if some wacko reds that and decides if Geraldo would do it, why shouldn’t I?

3) Why drag yourself down to his level?

4) Better have been let go for less.

TheBigOldDog on September 1, 2007 at 1:03 PM

Man, I still don’t know why you people are getting so worked up over this, Geraldo is so much more useful to us at Fox than he is sitting moping in his mansion, carrying a mike, talking to a Handi-cam he has set up in the corner.

If you have to write to Fox, demand a groveling apology, not that he be fired, and please PLEASE be civil. I still say he’s to much of a useful idiot to cast off like this, plus the media will rally behind him and smear us as a bunch of radical bullies, and given the strength of the media, they’ll probably get away with it. Be smart about this.

Bad Candy on September 1, 2007 at 1:03 PM

I just read the article in the Globe. I quote him: If you treat people right, they’ll treat you right.

What does spitting on people constitute for this guy?

Tru2my2 on September 1, 2007 at 1:04 PM

astuddis on September 1, 2007 at 12:58 PM

Dude, don’t drop to Geraldo’s level.

Bad Candy on September 1, 2007 at 1:05 PM

Is it projecting or is there another psychological term for saying things that you actually believe that you yourself deserve? He thinks somewhere in his dark heart, buried by denial as it is, that he is deserving such treatment for being such a twit.

bbz123 on September 1, 2007 at 1:06 PM

This event exposes Mr. Rivera’s Achilles Heel.

Let’s review what we learned from the Boston Globe story.

Mr. Rivera worked his way up to become the first million-dollar reporter and has reaped the following rewards:

• 40 years of fame
• Emmy award
• 36-foot Hinckley powerboat
• 70-foot ketch
• helicopter
• seaside 10-bedroom “summer residence”
• 5 wives
• 5 children
• Boss at Fox whose attitude is: “That’s Geraldo. I dare someone to put him on a leash.”

But damn it, he has not always felt well treated, so instead of gratitude, he is motivated by his grievances: a red flag signaling fundamental insecurity.

“The ocean’s the most nonjudgmental place on earth,” says he.

Well, the public is the most judgmental creature on earth, Mr. Rivera. And you, sir, are judged to be a hollow, grasping, self-centered, insincere, coward of a man and failure of a human being. *Not even worth spitting on.*

RushBaby on September 1, 2007 at 1:06 PM

Allah is right, he’s a great source for commentary. When he speaks, it bolsters the case for us. I am curious to see if Bill O thinks his comments are “over the top”.

Being an attorney, Geraldo should know that spitting on someone is considered battery.

A defendant who spits on a plaintiff, even though there is little chance that the spitting will cause any injury other than to the plaintiff’s dignity, has committed a battery.

JammieWearingFool on September 1, 2007 at 1:07 PM

Yup, Geraldork’s a lefty.

MT on September 1, 2007 at 1:09 PM

As there is a time for everything, it is, indeed, clear that viewpoints shared by the likes of Geraldo are not getting the traction they used to get. Remember, Geraldo has always been this way and only now are we seeing him in a different light, because our perception has changed, not the other way around.

We have changed, the public, while Geraldo hasn’t. He’s stuck in the past and will, ultimately, get wilder, more frustrated, and wacky in his views as time goes on. His side, which uses viewpoints and tactics reminiscent of liberals, is to focus on both the emotional and abstract side of the discussion. Facts are outright dismissed that deny this worldview. In the end, Geraldo and his fellow pro-amnesty folks will lose because they have weak arguments, few facts, and are stuck in a 60’s style thinking.

Weebork on September 1, 2007 at 1:10 PM

Let the media rally around a man who spit on a woman in street simply because he disagrees with her. That’s the kind of hypocrisy that turns the stomach of fair minded, decent Americans. Let them do it. It’s just another nail in their coffin.

TheBigOldDog on September 1, 2007 at 1:11 PM

Yes, and if Geraldo is smart, he’ll go trolling through the comments here for nasty sentiments that some of you guys have expressed towards him to accuse Michelle, by extension, of having started it first. You and I both know that’s nonsense since she’s not responsible for what you say, but the vast majority of O’Reilly’s viewers who don’t know anything about blogs won’t grasp the distinction. Neither will Bill himself, since he very foolishly holds Kos responsible for the things dKos commenters say. This is one of the reasons I get so aggravated by those of you who abuse our hospitality by popping off here: Michelle will be tarred by your statements even though that’s not fair to her. Every time you cross the line — and most of you don’t, but it only takes a few — you make it harder for her to argue from the high ground.

The left has incited violence against Michelle for so long that this is nothing more than a drop (of spit) in the ocean. That doesn’t excuse him, but it’s a little late to be worried about this sort of thing now.

Dork B. on September 1, 2007 at 1:18 PM

Geraldo’s response to this is completely predictable. My prediction is that he’ll completely deny that he made this statement. Of course, he also has the standard “victim” card to play too. If he doesn’t deny it entirely, he’ll attempt to play the victim by suggesting that he’s been forced into a rage by the racist actions of the anti-illegal groups and that this entire incident is nothing more than a slanderous hit job by the right.

And history indicates that he’ll end up coming out ahead in the end.

Gregor on September 1, 2007 at 1:35 PM

Why do I watch FOX again? Oh yeah, to see Michelle…Michelle, Britt Hume, and Hannity and Colmes ONLY when Ann Coulter is on. I like Chris Wallace, but I don’t tune in to see him deliberately – I don’t know if he has a show of his own or not.
But that’s pretty much it, for me. They do have enough Tabloid trash – they should scale some of that back. If they did that, and gave the lovely Molly Line more airtime, I would watch a lot more often.

Having a place like Hot Air to display Geraldo’s actions is the proper course of action for the likes of Geraldo. Geraldo will do much more damage to himself without us doing anything other than providing a venue for the public to witness Geraldo’s self-destruction.

“Who is more the fool, the fool or the one who follows him?”

One is being physically abusive, the other is just being politically efficient against one’s political enemies. They’re two different things, not analogous to each other.

Neither will Bill himself, since he very foolishly holds Kos responsible for the things dKos commenters say.

Allahpundit on September 1, 2007 at 1:29 PM

This is completely incorrect. Kos is VERY much responsible for the things his readers post on his blog, because Kos actually condones it. Yes, he might throw in the token condemnation post once in a while, but when he does, it’s nothing more than a sham. Let’s be real. Kos bans anyone from the blog who he deems to be “the enemy” and he immediately deletes ANY comment offering an opposing viewpoint. He NEVER deletes comments from his pathological readers until it becomes an issue in the media.

The only way you can honestly claim that Kos is not responsible would be if he were deleting those posts as quickly as he deletes opposing views.

Damned if you do, damned if you don’t. If you eliminate comments, you lose your readers. The gatekeeper’s days are over. Keep the comments, and you get tarred with them. Decisions, decisions.

Glad somebody gets it.

Civility. It’s not just for breakfast anymore.

That’s all fine, but it’s far too subtle a distinction for people who aren’t familiar with blogs. Even O’Reilly doesn’t grasp the distinction.

Well, no. The solution is for the more excitable among you to show a little courtesy and gratitude for being provided a free platform to watch what you say before you say it. If you all like Michelle as much as you profess to, it’s literally the least you can do.

Allahpundit on September 1, 2007 at 1:55 PM

I always thought Geraldo to be an idoit, But to declare Al Sharpton the greatest Civil Rights activtist is taking his stupidity to a new level. Now he wants to spit on someone who will not bow to his moronic rants. Just like any other snake in the grass, when they are not afraid of your bite just spit in their face.

Who pays the bills here?

Who pays the bills here?

Last time I checked, Michelle.

I would agree with these statements, but isn’t it a little off base to compare the comments on this thread to those that appear on dKos or Huffington? I mean, is calling Gerald an idiot, or suggesting that he should be fired comparable to wishing people dead? I honestly could have missed a few comments and I don’t feel like running through them all again, but is there anything in this thread that is really that harsh? But again, I might have missed something, or you might have actually deleted some.

Gregor on September 1, 2007 at 2:03 PM

Are you actually suggesting, JiangxiDad, that the small percentage of our commenters who can’t resist making death threats or racial cracks have the right to do so because they visit the site and help (marginally) boost traffic? Do you have any idea how absurdly unfair that is to the vast majority of our readers and commenters who manage to refrain from that garbage and get tarred by association with it?

Allahpundit on September 1, 2007 at 2:04 PM

Thanks for the answer, I was curious as your thinking – appreciate the look inside. Is it safe to assume then that you support the left’s policy of outing gay republicans as it is politically efficient?

Spirit of 1776 on September 1, 2007 at 2:04 PM

Every time you cross the line — and most of you don’t, but it only takes a few — you make it harder for her to argue from the high ground.

Allahpundit on September 1, 2007 at 1:29 PM

Correct arguments don’t need to be made from “the high ground”. They live on their own merits. The desire to be seen as being “morally superior” degrades every argument it infects.

The issue of US sovereignty has nothing to do with morality.
