MSNBC: Congressman arrested in bathroom, Hurricane Katrina victims hardest hit

With thanks to Geoffrey Dickens, whose heart was the first to fill with ache at the “moral insult” inflicted by Larry Craig upon NOLA’s refugees, this is so shameless and stupid that I’ve almost got to give a tip o’ the cap to David Shuster for having the stones to float it. The bit at the end about the White House staffers who took a half hour break from ritually flogging themselves for the sins of the Bush administration to prank Rove is just gravy. Keep up the good work, Dave.

Description of Post Hoc
A Post Hoc is a fallacy with the following form:
1. A occurs before B.
2. Therefore A is the cause of B.
The Post Hoc fallacy derives its name from the Latin phrase “Post hoc, ergo propter hoc.” This has been traditionally interpreted as “After this, therefore because of this.” This fallacy is committed when it is concluded that one event causes another simply because the proposed cause occurred before the proposed effect. More formally, the fallacy involves concluding that A causes or caused B because A occurs before B and there is not sufficient evidence to actually warrant such a claim.

He was actually doing some real damage with that laundry list of Republican hypocrites/sexual deviants. Then, the complete non-sequitur comes with the Katrina reference and Karl Rove’s car. Just kinda makes you go WTF?!?!

MSNBC commentators with their propensity for random synapse failures are always good for a laugh.

haha. How can you not love David Shuster?
“Pardon me. We need to make a quick stop at my house. – Rep. Jefferson
That’s out of the way. We are trying to save lives. – National Guardsmen
Tell me about it. – Rep. Jefferson”

Olbermann would give Dave a “Great Thanks” for that one.
lowandslow on August 30, 2007 at 2:05 PM
David Shuster gets more views here than he does on MSNBC.
It’s instances like these that I wonder why post this bull crap, AP?
But then again, whatever.

Wasnt there suppose to be a roll of duct tape in there somewhere?
doriangrey on August 30, 2007 at 2:09 PM
MORAL – MSNBC gives out lots of points to those who can string together completely unrelated incidents into one Republican-bashing report.

That’s too hard. I just go to Home Depot.

Isn’t Barney Frank going to comment on this ?

David Shuster is the poor man’s David Gregory.
KelliD on August 30, 2007 at 2:28 PM
David Shuster is apparently a brainless douche.
That was so stupid it took me a minute to even react.
W.T.F?

Had to watch it twice…and I still don’t get it.
Family values hypocrisy is the cause of Hurricane Katrina! And here for the past two years I was told it was manmade global climate change….and by the same people, no less!

Linking the unlinkable and thinking the unthinkable!
The MSNBC credo!

The real hypocrisy isn’t that the Republican party stands for family values, sanctity of life and religious protection. The real hypocrisy is that the other major party of gender challenged, cigar screwing, homosexual marrying, sex selling swine, shriek righteousness from their pulpit or bought media talking heads any time one Republican has their morals being questioned and can’t just go into therapy or detox for a total pass and re-election by a base of deviant, entitled socialists..

Interestingly, “WTF?” is exactly what I said out loud after watching that clip.
How deeply stupid. What? The massive federal government ceased to function while a couple knuckle-heads Saran-wrapped a car?
Oh, this kind of crap is so stupid. You know how it insults the most? Opponents of President Bush. They should be insulted. This is an insult to their intelligence, because it assumes they’ll lap it up happily, no matter how stupid it is, just because it fits their preconceptions.
George Bush hates Saran Wrap.
Professor Blather on August 30, 2007 at 3:22 PM
“George Bush hates Saran Wrap.”
Paula Dean is recording the video as we speak.

Chris Matthews is a blubbering vagina.
Oops…can I say that here?

How many ‘politicians are hypocrites’ stories has he done on the left? Sure he showed what the Craig guy said about Clinton, but Clinton didn’t resign.
You could do a mini series on Edwards’ hypocrisy. Not to mention Obama’s ‘well we shouldn’t be in Iraq, but we need to invade Pakistan’ stance. Or Hillary’s ‘we need to be above the politics of personal destruction’ while she allows others to be the hitmen in her campaign.
They get elected on family values – because VOTERS like family values. These news guys make it seem as though ‘family values’ is a bad thing. Family values is not a bad thing. People should have family values. If these guys did show family values, they would not be disgraced. So family values is the right way to go.

No doubt about that.
saiga on August 30, 2007 at 4:39 PM
This crazy stuff keeps getting floated more and more often. MSNBC should give up any pretenses to being objective.
nailinmyeye on August 30, 2007 at 4:46 PM
I have always thought Shuster might be mildly retarded simply by the way he moves his mouth when he speaks — I have a cousin with Downs who is truly more articulate than that dolt… but now his transition from pont A to pont Y confirms it… he’s a walking, talking (albeit laborious) mental defect.
D2Boston on August 30, 2007 at 4:47 PM
to paraphrase Overbite:
480 days since David Shuster declared “I am convinced that Karl Rove will, in fact, be indicted.”
