Aside from a few lyrical flourishes, it makes perfect sense.

Pretty good… but this page format is all out of whack AP.

Real elevated, continuing to bag on a 16 yr old pagent beauty contestant.

Does this story credence MM’s reputation any further?

Tru2my2 on August 29, 2007 at 11:32 PM

She’s 18, and lighten up.

Allahpundit on August 29, 2007 at 11:33 PM

Haha. How ’bout a bonus clip of Gutfeld taking Matt and his fist-bump to task?

Spirit of 1776 on August 29, 2007 at 11:33 PM

Exactly.

Tru2my2 on August 29, 2007 at 11:34 PM

Kimmel is the opposite of funny. Total d*ck…

JWS on August 29, 2007 at 11:37 PM

I love Kimmel. He makes me laugh.

Karma, it’s all karma dude

Kini on August 29, 2007 at 11:41 PM

Everybody’s getting a lot of mileage out of this. I like it.

In fact, I was just thinking about the different blogs out there and I like this one the best. IowaHawk is very engaging, and Charles is really lazered in on Islamofascism, and so on, but this blog gives us the widest variety of material, and in greater amounts, that I could hope to find anywhere on the net. And the blogging itself is excellent.

Thanks for a great blog AP, Bryan, Michelle!

Wow, pretty and smart!

conservnut on August 29, 2007 at 11:43 PM

I’m first in line to defend this site, call out the haters, and participate as a guest with good manners in the house of MM – all I ask is a little respect when it comes to the real innocents of this world. She could be my daughter, or yours – or my knuckleheaded son.
Rise above the ridicule of the innocents.

Tru2my2 on August 29, 2007 at 11:46 PM

It’s all so clear now! How could I not have seen it?
Thank you Jimmy!
Thank you AP

Tru2my2 on August 29, 2007 at 11:46 PM

Yeah, good point. But… she’s 18. She’s old enough to enter into a contract. Old enough to vote. And, when you make yourself a public figure for personal gain, you’re going to have to deal with the consequences as an adult, if you’re an adult, which she is.

No one’s being vicious with her. It’s all good natured. And she’s exploiting it, to her credit.

It’s all in good fun.

Tru2my2 on August 29, 2007 at 11:46 PM

I appreciate the call to humanity’s better nature, but I suggest to your outrage here is completely misplaced. This is a public televised event rooted in, gasp, competition. Willing taking part in competition – part of which is the question/answer interview. Innocents? Don’t be silly. Innocents are victims of child predators, etc, etc. Not people that put themselves on stage to compete in ways designed to springboard them personally and professionally.

The more appropriate comparison is to a professional athlete saying something mind-numbing in an interview, not to your knuckleheaded son who presumably doesn’t compete with his good looks and insights into geography.

Spirit of 1776 on August 30, 2007 at 12:12 AM

There is no such thing as bad publicity. I don’t think people are being ugly towards her. People are definitely laughing at her though. She doesn’t look the worse for wear and in fact is getting gigs already because of her little fiasco. I don’t feel sorry for her and neither should she. She’s laughing all the way to the bank.

TBinSTL on August 29, 2007 at 11:59 PM

And then, of course, uh, recycle the wood.

Because, uh, wood can be chucked, but a woodchuck won’t chuck wood if you chuckle while chucking wood that you would chuck when chuckling. Or could chuck, if chucking wood would make you chuckle.

Or something.

Ya know what? You are absolutely right. As I’ve told my own spawns, after 18 you are on your own,
I also told them to run from a camera while in public -

Tru2my2 on August 30, 2007 at 12:33 AM

And for those who have an 18 yr old ‘child’ – puleeeze!
We know first hand how damn stupid they are.

Tru2my2 on August 30, 2007 at 12:40 AM

So the person who wrote this is a beauty queen, getting work that does not involve digging ditches, living in Iraq for a year or more at a time, or bagging groceries, and all she has to put up with is ridicule from a late, late night host, which is well deserved, as she is plainly dumber than a box of rocks?

If she worked with me, I’d cry with her. Then I’d tell her to shut up, drink some water, change her socks, cowboy up and soldier on, because the world makes fun of you for being stupid only because shooting you for being stupid puts us in jail. How’s that for fair?

That’s right folks, just keep apologizing and making excuses for this “child’s” horrible grammar and ability to get a thought across. God Forbid she should be made to feel dumb, she might be ruined for life. Ooops, too late. This is the current problem with this country, being apologetic and defending the undefensable. She is a sad testament to 1) what the school systems are putting out now 2) the type of young adults the kids now have to look up to and 3) the type of persons our society will protect and defend rather than call them out which might force them to re-evaluate their current lot in life and maybe try to make it better. I’d expect such comments on a more liberal site, but here lately, it seems a lot of folks here are slanting a little left.

Reality Check Boys and Girls:

The girl’s image is still out there long after the winner and first runner up has been forgotten. This is indeed one of those situations where there is no such thing as bad publicity.

That Miss South Carolina still came in third after such a strange answer tells you how important the “brains” portion of the contest was.

I’m sure that every one out there being hyper-critical were themselves erudite and urbane when they were 18- right?

It’s just a beauty pageant people!

Finally, for those sniping at Vanna White (a former Miss South Carolina herself)…… Any woman who can make an entire decades-long career out of turning letters must be doing something right! ;)

Speak for yourself. They are niave for sure. Still rough around the edges, yup. Rebellious in nature, SOP for teenagers. But pigeonholing the lot as stupid suggests you need to get out of the house more.

Sorry to hear your first hand experience resulted in damn stupid offspring. Maybe you should have taken more time nurturing them yourself instead of depending on the public education system to prepare them for the real world.

fogw on August 30, 2007 at 10:47 AM

Labamigo on August 30, 2007 at 12:07 PM

If I were a gambling man, I’d wager my life-savings that she is, indeed, the product of a government-run school.

gryphon202 on August 30, 2007 at 3:09 PM

18.
Do you any of you old farts remember that far back? You’re all aged to perfection, right?

Please get up off of your dusty duffs and come out into the real world, where people make mistakes. It will be like the second coming.

Thank you for letting me breate your perfect air.

Batman – “…Steady…Robin…old…chum…”

Coronagold on August 30, 2007 at 6:41 PM

Making fun of retarded kids is just mean.

Don’t do that.

Making fun of a really stupid, beautiful, stupid, popular, really stupid, and soon to be wealthy, stupid girl is funny as hell.

Until someone shows me that she has some short-bus paperwork on file, she’s just plain ol’ dumb to me, which is funny, not sad.

As long as we, as a society, continue to reward physical beauty far more than intellect, how can anyone not claim to be descended from dirty apes. I have a new theory: some of us are divine creations bearing Promethian knowledge, while others are really hot-ass ape descendants. The latter tend to do fairly well in the world. Hell, I wish my greatgreatgreatgreatgreatgreatgreatgreatgreatgreatgreat… G-Ma was Koko. I’d be rich and beautiful instead of degreed and impoverished (well, sub-middle class).
