Dingy Harry: Congress is unpopular because Bush is a poopiehead
posted at 10:32 am on August 28, 2007 by Bryan
Bill Press interviewed Sen. Harry Reid on the Ed Schultz show on August 23.
PRESS: Senator, I’m sure you were disheartened to see yesterday the Gallup organization came out with a new poll that showed that currently today the Congress holds an approval rating among the American people of an all-time low of 18%. Uh, how do you deal with that?
REID: Of course I’m disappointed in that, but if you go back to before they started doing polling, Will Rogers made a living criticizing Congress. Congress has always been criticized and as well it should be; the American people express their frustration through how Congress is doing. But if you go back historically, you’ll always find that when you have a president that is so terribly unpopular, it also affects Congress…
Riiight. But Bush’s approval rating is at 33%, while congress’ is at 18%. If there was a direct correlation between the two, and to the extent that the American voter supposedly sees the Democrat congress as the great check against Bush, shouldn’t its approval rating be at least as high as his?
Interestingly, Reid’s own national approval rating stands at a whopping 19%. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s approval rating is a little better, at around 30-34% depending on which story you read, but her misadventures with Jack Murtha and Alcee Hastings after promising the most ethical congress evah and the ill-conceived trip to Syria can’t have done much to burnish her image.
And it certainly doesn’t help to find out things like the fact that the incoming Democrat chair of the House Intelligence Committee doesn’t know the difference between a Shia and a Sunni.
Congress is in the tank because of its own actions, and because the Democrat leadership is acting like November was a mandate for surrendercrat, leftwing rule.

If ignorance is bliss, then Congress maybe stupid, but at least they’re happy. When you have a talking cadaver as a leader of the Senate, what else can you expect? These people think they will easily takeover the next Congress by removing any doubt they are truly incompetent. Makes sense to me.

At least the 4th branch is more democratic (with a small “d”) than ever. Thanks HA. My trust in media has gone way up since I discovered the likes of you, Limbaugh, etc.

How Harry Reid was elected baffles me to no end.

He’s going to need a big cheese platter to go with that much whine.

I love the photo as well. Was that pic snapped during the National Anthem?

Was it Mark Twain who said, “I see that you’re a member of Congress. I see that you’re an imbecile. But I repeat myself.”?
Bigfoot on August 28, 2007 at 10:51 AM
Well, it’s not surprising Congressional approval is at 18%. The reasons are:
1) Bush is President
2) Bonds is on steroids.
3) Vick had dogfights.
4) All these Castro is dead/not-dead rumors.
5) Unemployment is too low.
6) Dish network has Versus on their premium packaged, but DirectTV has it on their standard package.
And there’s a few more non-sequiturs that make almost as much sense as those 6.
Sincerely,
Harry Reid

Who’s Hezbollah?
I dunno. Why don’t you ask me about something more important?
Like what?
Ask me to recite today’s talking points.
Why?
Because I’ve got them memorized. I could recite them backwards if you want.
Are you kidding me?
Again with a question not covered in my talking points. Come on get with it.
OK, do you feel the surge is working?
Finally a question I can answer from my talking points. [pause].
Bush is an idiot.

If you turn the picture of Harry Reid upside down, he’s smiling.
It makes sense now…
profitsbeard on August 28, 2007 at 10:58 AM
Big surprise.
It’s still Bush’s fault.
Do the Dems ever take responsibility for anything?
I hope Rush is right. They are planting the seeds for their eventual landslide defeat.
We can only hope.

so, the constant discourse the Dumbs portray, the earmarks they’ve passed when they said they would clean up Congress, the support for terrorism, the support for illegal aliens, the call for an end to a war they’re afraid to fight… none of that has anything to do with the low numbers?
of course not. as a matter of fact, when i got water in my car last week when it rained here in Houston, i didn’t blame my idiocy for driving thru waist-high water.
I blamed Bush.

Along the same lines, Nancy chould be pulling out the Ace of Trumps pretty soon: “We’ve heard loud and clear from the people of this great country that the reason we are so unpopular is that we have not responded to their heartfelt call to begin impeachment proceedings against this criminal administration. Therefore…”

It’s always Bush’s fault. I scuffed up my new car’s rims on a curb the other day. That was his fault too.

Ding Ding Ding………. We have a winner!
One comment. If Bush is at fault for Congressional poll numbers, why doesn’t the opposite hold true that a President riding high would result in high numbers for the Congress? The Senate is supposed to be composed of the nation’s best and brightest. Are we really saying that Teddy Kennedy, Harry Reid, Hillary Clinton, Barak Obama, and Carl Levin are the best the “rats” have to offer? God help us all if it is true!

What truly amazes me is that these Congressmen are willing to talk about how the Iraqi Parliment can’t seem to get things done… and call for the PM to be fired…
Wow… Pot… meet Kettle…
Romeo13 on August 28, 2007 at 11:58 AM
Reid’s approval rating is so low because of shamnesty.
PRCalDude on August 28, 2007 at 12:04 PM
Politicos are insulates-they only believe/use the polls they want.
If the people of America were interested/invested in the Dems “GET Bush/Stop Bush” game, poll numbers would reflect that.
I see that Reid in the interview added a few more ‘phantom’ accomplishments to give the minimum wage hike a little company. How very nice. If Congress were a company, with so few goals met and with its members more interested in fighting each other and the President of the corporation, well, Congress wouldn’t survive. It’s just another protected government subsidy, like PBS, NEA, and Food Stamps.

hairy reed takes responsibility for nothing…all hairy does is politicize…obstruct…mislead…hairy has no plan…no adjenda…hairy has already said we have lost the WOT…and hairy wonders why his ratings are so low…hmmmmmmmmmm…blame GW…that’s it…YOU FRICKING MORON…!!!…WHO ELECTED THIS NUTZO…???

Our fellow Americans, by a majority. That is why I no longer sleep as well as I once did. I’ve heard that Nevada wouldn’t re-elect him, but we’ll have to see. Las Vegas is Nevada, population wise, so it’s going Dem.

Just like yesterday, Reid is still a dumbass.

One bonehead disserves another. Just look at the cadrey of knuckleheads on the Dem side, not to mention the meltdown of Republicans on the other side. What a mess.
Lets throw them all out, except for Kay Baily Hutchinson, John Cornyn, and Jeff Sessions.

The actual quote by Mark Twain is …
“Suppose you were an idiot. And suppose you were a member of Congress. But I repeat myself.”
- Mark Twain, a Biography
He also had a few other choice quotes ….
“It could probably be shown by facts and figures that there is no distinctly native American criminal class except Congress.” – Pudd’nhead Wilson’s New Calendar
“It is the foreign element that commits our crimes. There is no native criminal class except Congress.” – More Maxims of Mark, Johnson, 1927
“All Congresses and Parliaments have a kindly feeling for idiots, and a compassion for them, on account of personal experience and heredity.” – Mark Twain’s Autobiography
Alia on August 28, 2007 at 2:16 PM
ROMEO13……..EXACTLY! Our “leadership” can’t get along but they expect the Iraqi Parliment to get along.

The level of rationalizing Reid is able to muster is a good insight into how the Hill really thinks. They simply do not see how they could ever be wrong. It must be those stupid, ill informed, pathetic little constituents out there who have lost their way. They do not understand that we know best. Poor things!

Harry Reid is what Hotair.com is all about! The man could pucker up and inflate the ReMax balloon all by his lonesome and still have enough left over to blow over Las Vegas and change the humidity level.

Dems are so good at targeting Republicans until they give up. Why dont Republicans get some cahungas and become RELENTLESS on William “Freezer Loot” Jefferson..or Dingy Harry Reids land sale scandal, or Hillarys mystery donations from jed clampetts house on the LAX runway. I dont know about you but GOP is becoming friggin meek. Maybe we need the Fred more than we think.
