I’ll believe it when I see it. To me it sounds more like the Taliban wasn’t in the papers anymore-the hostage taking was basically an old story nearly forgotten. To gin up interest again, promise to release the hostages and then, once it’s the news focus once more, repeat the demands, maybe kill another hostage to prove how zealous they are about their religion.

Under the terms of the agreement, South Korea agreed to stick by its previous decision to withdraw its 200 non-combat troops from Afghanistan, which work mostly in an engineering and medical capacity.

The Taliban is so afraid of Christians that they would deny the Afghanis the benefits that would come from the humanitarian work of the South Koreans. Mind-boggling.

How on earth does South Korea propose to enforce a ban on its churches sending missionaries to Afghanistan? I wonder if the 19 would have agreed to those terms, and if the churches in S.K. really intend to follow through with that. I rather suspect not.

All 19 is not really true. 19 of the 21 hostages would be better. The worshippers of the demon moon god Allah murdered the other two.

I’m happy for the Christian workers being released but Afghanistan needs Jesus Christ. This won’t stop the gospel from getting in.

Negotiating with terrorists ALWAYS brings more terrorism.

Why would the hostages agree to leave?

They went there to demonstrate their faith.

The Taliban are demonstrating theirs (terroristic, intolerant, supremacist).

I’m glad they’re released, but even more happy that they were released for practically nothing. There’s no reason for the South Korean government to hold their end of the bargain once they’ve been released, and I would hope that they instead send MORE troops to Afghanistan to hunt down and kill the ones responsible.

I know you weren’t trying to be ironic, but in fact they are fearful of true believers who take their faith seriously enough to fight for it. They rarely enounter that from the West. Of course, that’s not a new idea. The void left by Christianity’s removal from social life, especially in Europe, is being filled.
