Video: Truthers get a double dose of Frankenmania!

This performance earns him the SLC boys’ coveted seal of approval, a judgment in which I concur. Newt remains the gold standard but Franken’s disdain is palpable by the end of the clip. A solid B+ had he refused their offer of the DVD; a respectable B- as it is.

I just don’t see it.

TheSitRep on August 27, 2007 at 8:50 PM

You must be watching a different clip, Allah, because I see something very different.

Franken seems unsure of his belief that there was no conspiracy, willing to hear evidence that Bush was behind it, and open to being persuaded into full blown Trutherism.

mjgreco on August 27, 2007 at 8:54 PM

I don’t think he’s open at all. He’s just trying to be polite to a pair of tools.

Allahpundit on August 27, 2007 at 8:55 PM

“…pull it. I mean what else could it mean?” Um well you uneducated, brainwashed, morons it could mean the firefighting operation. it=firefighting operation

boomer on August 27, 2007 at 8:56 PM

Looks like somebody is eyeing up an election in Minnesota.

askheaves on August 27, 2007 at 8:57 PM

Is there a plugin I don’t know about?
It aint that I don’t see it, I can’t see it.

TheSitRep on August 27, 2007 at 8:59 PM

I think anything short of “listen you little sh**, if you don’t get out of my face right now, I will stomp you” doesn’t cut it anymore.

RightWinged on August 27, 2007 at 8:59 PM

I’ve never heard anyone actually arguing troofism before. They sounded really “programmed”. Real tinfoil hat stuff.

Very entertaining.

jaime on August 27, 2007 at 9:00 PM

As the vid hits :49 Franken’s skepticism of the troofers wavers.

Allahpundit on August 27, 2007 at 8:55 PM

He shouldn’t have been, he should have said “you know what you can do with this DVD”… Fast-forward a month… He’s signing on to co-narrate Loose Change with Charlie Sheen. Do I actually think he’ll do that? No. Would I be surprised if he did, after saying he went home and watched the video, and others and thought “questions need to be answered” so he was forced to join the movement? No, I wouldn’t be surprised in the least. It’s easy to fall in to the trap, and much harder to spend time researching the debunking information.

RightWinged on August 27, 2007 at 9:02 PM

God, I just realized Truthers are so heinous they make me appreciate a bleeding heart lib like Franken!

VolMagic on August 27, 2007 at 9:03 PM

Well whaddya know….Franken’s not as nutball as I thought. But he’s still a nut.

JetBoy on August 27, 2007 at 9:04 PM

I couldn’t watch the whole thing. I have a low threshold for ignorance. Those numbnuts need to find girlfriends.

Dork B. on August 27, 2007 at 9:12 PM

Ya know,it’s pricless how these lib’s created these
moonbat truthers,these political frankensteins,and now
(stuart),I mean Al Franklin is now running for office
and are scared to death to say a word.

Or is he acting!

canopfor on August 27, 2007 at 9:16 PM

Eh. Franken. Twoofers. All together in one video, a singularity of stupidity.

It’s really sad that we’ve gotten to the point where not thinking 9-11 is an inside job is deserving of congratulations. It’s also funny that we are surprised when Democrats disavow the woo woo.

Who wants cake?

Good Lt on August 27, 2007 at 9:17 PM

Always kids. It’s always the dumbass college-age kids that do these walk-ups. It’s almost like a fad for them. They think they are cool because there are “in” on some grassroots thing and they want to talk to a celebrity about it. The irony is that they congratulate themselves for being critical thinkers.

JetBoy on August 27, 2007 at 9:04 PM

Oh believe me, he’s a nutball, and so are his followers. I stopped at Sen. Coleman’s (R) booth at the state fair for just a few minutes, and the Franken Freaks were out in force. One yelled, “which way to Franken’s booth”. My wife said, “it’s in the pig barn”. They were loud and rude, just like their candidate. Sen. Coleman didn’t even look their way.

oakpack on August 27, 2007 at 9:26 PM

What are these asshats using, a crotch camera?

And my, what was that caterwauling in the background?

One thing I have to give props to most of the left and seemingly the entire media: Say what you will about them politically, but they’re not so stupid as to align themselves with these wholly discredited crackpots.

JammieWearingFool on August 27, 2007 at 9:27 PM

After air America, eight years of bashing Bush,
bashing Republicans, you think he’s turning a new leaf.
The only thing, that would convince me,is if he switched
parties,and i don,t mean liberal to libertarian.

canopfor on August 27, 2007 at 9:28 PM

“I’m not a 9/11 conspiracist.” That’s pretty clear. Good for him.

lowandslow on August 27, 2007 at 10:07 PM

Why did he put up with these morons for more than the time it took to say: “I’m not a 9/11 conspiracist“.

That he tolerated their babbling idiocy for more than 10 seconds shows that he is a weak, weak man.

Looking to keep part of his moonbat book audience, clearly, more showing than any concern for reality. No evidence of any spine or testicular fortitude.

Al, pisspitiful.

profitsbeard on August 27, 2007 at 10:13 PM

Am I the only one surprised Al isn’t a truther? If I hadn’t seen this video I wouldn’t have believed it. I agree he seemed a bit flustered at the end, but when you consort with lunatics for a living, can you really be surprised when they come out of the woodwork. Grandma had a saying: “if you lie with dogs, you’ll probably get fleas”.

thedecider on August 27, 2007 at 10:25 PM

Yay! Liberal of the week.

I like it when I can root for a liberal for a change.

SouthernDem on August 27, 2007 at 9:53 PM

much more difficult than you think… imagine yourself as the average outsider… not a blogger/blog commenter type, but just some person who checks the weather and searches for flights online… some friend of yours emails you a link to Loose Change. What do you think happens in many of those cases? A good chunk of people won’t have the time to sit at the computer and watch it. A few that do will dismiss it based on common sense, though if they were to debate a Truther they’d sadly be defeated. Then there are a lot who will watch it, find the “questions” intriguing, because most people by our nature won’t believe that we’re being completely lied to, especially when we’re talking about an actual event (9/11).

Most people don’t watch it and go “hmm… let me google ‘debunking 9/11 conspiracy theories’”. Yes, it’s their duty to do so, if they’re going to claim to believe in the conspiracy theory, they should be required to see the debunking information.. but by the same token, there should be tests before someone can vote. The fact is, the internet is filled with conspiracy theory sites, and a handful of debunking. The information is solid, but to the average Loose Change viewer, it’s not sitting their right before them… And my proof is the 1/3 of the country (or whatever the last poll said) that don’t buy the official story.

RightWinged on August 27, 2007 at 10:33 PM

Boring nonsense is what this is. This crazy left side of the Dems are going to be a HUGE problem for them in the next election. They gave them free range to garner support for the Dem Party over these years but it’s going to be their worst nightmare. Simply put, no one (on their side) has cornered their nonsense so that train is going to derail. Oh, I also noticed their is no contact info on their stupid website. That must also be a conspiracy from the Bush Admin.

Jiggity on August 27, 2007 at 10:34 PM

BTW, I wish one of the Republican presidential candidates would call out the Democrats on this sort of thing. For them to act like they’ve never heard these theories (unlike Franken) means their scared of the nuts on their side or their criminally ignorant of their base’s own politics.

frankj on August 27, 2007 at 10:36 PM

Whatever will the left do when they cannot preface everything with “This administration…” anymore?

mojowire on August 27, 2007 at 10:46 PM

Who’s killing cats in the back ground?

spike on August 28, 2007 at 12:03 AM

I’m glad that Al is smart enough not to buy in to all that 9/11 conspiracy garbage. But I still hope he loses to Norm Coleman because I just can’t stand to see a guy from Air America become a Senator.

SoulGlo on August 28, 2007 at 12:17 AM

We are change
We are change
We are change to the bitter end
The bitter end…

Seriously, I thought the troofer movement got dealt their death blow. Hopefully these Infowar morons fade away over the months.

mram on August 28, 2007 at 12:35 AM

I am always ready to mock, deride, question the integrity and sanity of Al Franken. But not this time. I think his answer, “I’m not a 9-11 truther.” showed a bit of honesty. There are some running for office (HClinton)that would have said anything a group of potential voters wanted to hear. Al did all right. Especially as he didn’t seem to know that he was being recorded.

Doug on August 28, 2007 at 12:57 AM

This is Al’s “I’m not a truther… vote for me… I’m not a loon” campaign video.

Written by, produced by, distributed by, and starring, Al Franken.

Mojack420 on August 28, 2007 at 1:02 AM

Heh, easy answer, I’ll take a tooth being pulled or root canal over a lobotomized twoofer any day! Seriously, the twoofers seem more like a religious cult everyday, the glazed eyes and incoherent ramblings that have no basis in reality!

Reminds me of a Cheech and Chong skit, “first I was all strung out on drugs, now I’m all strung out on the lord” or in their case, “strung out on twooferism.”

Morons and Franken is still a POS tool!

Liberty or Death on August 28, 2007 at 1:25 AM

How rude!

Franken is in a room listening to what sounded like a live musical and vocal performance and these conspiracy theorists show no respect for the musicians and singers, and proceed to take up Franken’s time and attention, thus diverting his attention away from the performance!

At least Franken could have told them to leave him alone and be quiet during the performance.

Does anyone else see the similarities between accused-alleged fanatical, Evangelical Christians getting in-your-face and telling you “about the Lord” and how you will go to hell if you don’t believe them, and don’t believe in Him, and these 9/11/01 Truthers in self appointed holier-than-thou, “I know and you don’t, but I’ll enlighten you” attitude?

William2006 on August 28, 2007 at 4:09 AM

I only liked the part when the people applauded when that terrible singer stopped. I had to quit watching before she piped up again.

TheSitRep on August 28, 2007 at 6:57 AM

Obviously Frankin has read up on the latest DEM talking points about 9/11 and terrorism. They realize that the only way into the White House is to appear to be rational and Global Terrorism is now no longer a bumper sticker slogan.

Oh please. I see that Christian-bashing class has returned for the Fall semester. Professor Sullivan’s curriculum, I presume.

Freelancer on August 28, 2007 at 8:34 AM

At least when Franken wins his seat, he won’t have as much power as he now does when the MSM publishes his every utterance.

Imagine if Rush or Sean went to Congress. We’d lose some powerful voices.

JiangxiDad on August 28, 2007 at 9:24 AM

Whatever will the left do when they cannot preface everything with “This administration…” anymore?

Preface everything with “The last administration…”, then, when they win the WH in 2012 they’ll use “The last Republican administration…”.

See? It’s really clever…and is continual proof that they can do no wrong.

Ochlan on August 28, 2007 at 9:59 AM

Al Franken is still a big libturd. I care nothing about what he says about anything.

Sensei Ern on August 28, 2007 at 10:43 AM

Oh please. I see that Christian-bashing class has returned for the Fall semester. Professor Sullivan’s curriculum, I presume.

I don’t think that was Christian bashing at all. Note he said “accused-alleged” when describing the particular Evangelical behavior. I’m a Catholic and took no offense. The actual point, that the 911 Truthers are like religious fanatics, is cogent and relevant. It’s also true with regard to the global warming doomsayers.

Ann Coulter’s book Godless: The Church of Liberalism, explores this in great detail. It’s a fun read.

Kensington on August 28, 2007 at 11:46 AM

Franken is a media-savvy pro.
He was responding to a swarm of Truther zealots politely, sometimes curiously, but mostly at an emotional distance. I thought it was a masterful defusion of a potentially volatile personal intrusion. By the end when he dismissed them, Truthers had become mere trespassers, grateful for the great man’s time and forbearance.
Now, Franken’s liberalism is generally antithetical to my conservatism but his handling of this kind of confrontation is worthy of imitation, imho.
