Some years back, I was visiting my French (ex-)girlfriend, and in the county-fair type place in central Paris, was a booth that let you win a prize for shooting at the white space between two concentric circles. I tried twice. My girlfriend and her gal-pal were very impressed with my skill, but the proprietor wouldn’t give me credit because shye said I had hit the lines. Problem was that the distance between the two lines (couldn’t have been more than 3mm) was less than the width of the bullet (.22). I found the refusal to be pretty astounding, but the girls didn’t really mind–and that’s what’s really important.

But I did learn that guns for hunting were still allowed in France, under some circumstances.

The Dissident Frogman has been around for a long time and is one of, if not the best foreign blog for general commentary. He should be on everybody’s “daily read” list. The ironic thing about this great clip, is that most of the main stream media will actually learn a great deal from the video that they did not know (but had been reporting on). Many were probably pausing, rewinding, and taking notes.

Mrs. See-Dub and I were wandering through Paris one day six or seven years back and ran across a gun store. Not just airsoft replicas, real rifles and expensive shotguns. (I don’t recall any handguns). Imagine my surprise.

I don’t remember the prices and they were closed either for lunch or a long vacation, so I didn’t get a chance to go in and visit. But I think it was near the Rue Tabac, if you’re ever over there.

Odd, as France’s gun laws are very strict indeed. I wonder what kind of hoops the ordinary citizen (that includes the dissident frogman i assume) would have to jump to get a piece of hardware like the one he was holding.

He kinda did, notice that he had BOX MAGAZINE in bright color, and indicated it was new terminology for media to use? Maybe he coulda been a bit more direct, but I think it was good enough.
