Third runner-up, baby. Three heartbeats from the tiara. The winner wants to be an “entertainment journalist,” the least ambitious reportorial job you can aspire to short of, er, “professional blogger.”
Idiot or not, she’ll do well in life, I suspect.

heh, *swim* I can’t find the US on a map either.

Now SHE’S a keeper! Mom, Dad, I want you to meet…
JWS on August 25, 2007 at 8:51 PM
Someone on Youtube had this to say:
To which this was the response:
Stupid genes will never die out.
jihadwatcher on August 25, 2007 at 9:01 PM
For some reason when I play a YouTube video displayed at HotAir I get no sound. I have to open it in a separate window. Having done so on this video I realized I was better off with the no sound option.
Faith1 on August 25, 2007 at 9:02 PM
You should warn people to strap on a diaper before they view that video — F’ing HYSTERICAL!!!
D2Boston on August 25, 2007 at 9:11 PM
As the old timers used to say: “It’s a good thing you’re pretty, honey.”

My wife, who is a very intelligent blond, told me the following dumb-blond joke, and I love it:
Two blonds are having a conversation when one of them says,
The other one says,
:-)

…. and the gene fairy said “I’ll give you great beauty by
reallocating your brain genes”

Stupid. Please God someone smack her parents.
Black Adam on August 25, 2007 at 9:33 PM
I like how the guy holding the mike in the video can barely keep from laughing himself while this girl is finishing her answer. Watch the end of the video one more time and look at him instead of her. If I were him, I don’t know if I could have kept from laughing.
ITookTheRedPill on August 25, 2007 at 9:33 PM
She’s lucky she found her shoes….

Only a woman could have written this…

“This learned [gentlewoman] is too cunning to be understood.”

Reminds me of a girl in High School. She wanted a country so she could see if she could find it on the map.
Teacher: Ummm look for Bulimia
Girl: (looking for five minutes) I can’t find it
Me: It’s right next to Anorexia
Girl: Oh! I’ve heard of that (continues to look)
Her friend: Wait a minute.

Miss SC? Still nailable.
ScottMcC on August 25, 2007 at 10:52 PM
Allah, I was stupid before I watched that.
Now I’m so stupid, I can’t figure out how to sign out. Curse you.
Jaibones on August 25, 2007 at 11:06 PM
Wow. That was sad.
Spirit of 1776 on August 25, 2007 at 11:23 PM
She makes some good points which you guys are glossing over.
1 – Some Americans don’t have maps, and that’s just wrong.
2 – There is education in South Africa and Iraq.
3 – We should help people.
It’s troubling that everyone here missed these three brilliant points!
Kevin M on August 26, 2007 at 12:25 AM
Miss S.C. We’re into whatever you’re into.
Can you just see this woman, married to a shallow rich guy, at a Jr. League meeting 10 years from now babbling on about something inane?
Mojave Mark on August 26, 2007 at 12:29 AM
Well, I personally believe that if she had said something that was going to be a response to what was asked in the question as an inquiry to the answer she had planned as a response would have been a little off-topic. After all South Africa, Iraq and places have education systems that help people and we need an education system that will help people…do…things…LIKE MAYBE ANSWER SIMPLE QUESTIONS!!!
Maybe she has ADOP: Attention Deficit…Ooh Pretty!
Lone Star on August 26, 2007 at 2:32 AM
Some guy with a map is going to have a good time instructing her on the finer points of triangulation.
(Maybe she should just have a Mercator tattooed on her… uh… what’s that thing called…?)
Next stop, a political career.
profitsbeard on August 26, 2007 at 4:05 AM
I know this is easy to make fun of and fits numerous narratives…but give her a break. I don’t think she’s dumb, I think nerves got to her as badly imaginable. I feel bad for her, but I won’t mock her.
Patriot33 on August 26, 2007 at 4:26 AM
The question was stupid to begin with.
I’m surprised more people here aren’t mocking the question and instead are mocking her…lol.
One of the reasons that the pageants are failing to get people to watch is the bullcrap they ask..it’s just downright insulting to the intelligence.
Highrise on August 26, 2007 at 4:34 AM
There’s something wrong when a darlin’ like this, presumably born and raised in the good ol’ U.S. of A, is harder to decipher than, say, SMEATO!
(By the way, the celebrity questioner, Aimee Teegarten of TV’s “Friday Night Lights,” is one of the reasons – the other two being her co-stars Minka Kelly and Adrianne Palicki, why it’s almost easy to forget what a great football drama that show is.)
Captain Scarlet on August 26, 2007 at 5:45 AM
Whatever she said, I agree with her and I have nothing to add. In fact, I will defend her right to say whatever she said…to the death.

Never heard a guy say “Hey look at the brain on that”

Uh, Mojave, I hate to say it but you sound like a Lib who was engaging in class warfare there, so I fixed it.
Buy Danish on August 26, 2007 at 8:44 AM
I grew up in 97013 :-) I remember running track and playing football against you guys.
She was nervous. I’ll give her a break. She’s probably even more embarrassed now that the clip is on YouTube. Even American kids who can’t locate the U.S. on a map can find YouTube clips. All is not lost!
Ordinary1 on August 26, 2007 at 9:19 AM
I like beauty pageants because women get to be proud that they are beautiful and attractive, which makes lefty feminists foam at the mouth with envy. Who cares what the contestants say? This girl’s talents lie in another realm.
Halley on August 26, 2007 at 9:22 AM
Cut her some slack, please. This is a girl who probably wrestles everyday with important issues like whether the triangle goes in the front or back on her thong underwear.
NightmareOnKStreet on August 26, 2007 at 9:27 AM
MS Teen SC mom – “you want to win right?”
MS Teen – “yeah”
MS Teen SC mom – “Then no matter what question they ask you, figure in a way to throw Africa and Iraq into your response, you’ll be sure to win.”
SPIFF1669 on August 26, 2007 at 10:00 AM
I don’t need to find the USA on a map. I’m already here.
manwithblackhat on August 26, 2007 at 10:02 AM
She’d be the perfect “journalist” to take the conservative side on “At Large” on the weekends.
.
True, I’ve never actually WATCHED the POS, but if she can turn a US map question into Darfur dribble, I can take another pot shot at Whore-Aldo.

packsoldier on August 26, 2007 at 11:09 AM
You know, a lot of you are overlooking that if she actually came out and stated some of the REAL reasons there are Americans who can’t find themselves on a map, she would have been drowned out by the PC booing and Liberal death threats and claims of everything from being a bigot, to being a racist, to being a xenophobe. She may be a lot smarter than you guys think, by knowing she needed to sidestep that question entirely to have a chance of winning. So. what does that say about our “free” society????
KMC1 on August 26, 2007 at 11:19 AM
“You know, a lot of you are overlooking……….”
KMC1 on August 26, 2007 at 11:19 AM
Na. I’m stickin’ wif stoopid…
JWS on August 26, 2007 at 11:48 AM
Maybe she was too preoccupied with what she was thinking than what she was saying:
“I knew I shouldn’t have agreed to be in that survey! How did they know?”
EWTHeckman on August 26, 2007 at 11:57 AM
Come to think of it, she’d be perfect on The View. Maybe she and Jessica Simpson could take turns.

“but my goal is to become a veterinarian, ’cause I love children…”
packsoldier on August 26, 2007 at 12:19 PM
umm… that’s what I was really thinking.
At least she beats out the moron from the French version of “Millionaire” who didn’t know that the moon orbits the earth. They should have asked her a question about heavenly bodies.
Mojave Mark on August 26, 2007 at 12:21 PM
It’s good to see Miss Teen South Carolina upholding that proud US tradition of the ‘Dumb Blonde’. In the goals for the future segment she expressed a desire to become a school teacher and marry one of her middle school students.
sonnyspats1 on August 26, 2007 at 12:31 PM
HOW in this world did the MC keep a straight face?
iam7545 on August 26, 2007 at 12:34 PM
Should be….“but my goal is to become a veterinarian, ’cause I think we all should serve our country..…”
BacaDog on August 26, 2007 at 1:04 PM
Come to think of it, she might does just fine under my observant tutelage.
TheSitRep on August 26, 2007 at 1:25 PM
He thought she gave an illuminating answer.
TheSitRep on August 26, 2007 at 1:26 PM
I’m sorry, she’s cute as a button, but I can’t afford to lose any more IQ points this week.
Merovign on August 26, 2007 at 3:51 PM
I doubt if she herself could locate South
AfricaCarolina on a map!!!If that doesn’t inspire you to homeschool your children, I don’t know what will. Thanks, Miss Sowth Kerliner for reinforcing my decision to do so.
ricelchew on August 26, 2007 at 4:13 PM
Sorry Miss TEEN Sowth Kerliner
ricelchew on August 26, 2007 at 4:14 PM
As in, “Ich bin ein Kerliner”?
Tragique…I think I speak for all of us when I say, we’re all South Carolinians today.

Yes, Yes ,Yes That’s my girl, says Bill Maher.
Texyank on August 26, 2007 at 6:53 PM
Seriously, this is brilliant. Everyone gets special status-by-hyphenation, like African-Americans, Mexican-Americans, Asian-Americans etc. So now those who choose can be “US-Americans”. It’s perfect.
Halley on August 27, 2007 at 12:42 AM
I, for one, thought what she said was pure genius and cut to the heart of the matter. Remember, Miss Teen South Carolina, when you reach legal age, Tantor was the only one who supported you when everyone else was cutting you down. After all, there is a reason why they call these beauty pageants and not plasma physicist pageants.
Tantor on August 27, 2007 at 12:46 AM
No, as in “I gots no edu-k-shun”. By the way, that’s “Berliner”.
ricelchew on August 27, 2007 at 1:14 AM
I am a US American and damn proud of it.
gabriel sutherland on August 27, 2007 at 9:43 AM
She’s 18. I wasn’t this unintelligible when I began speaking.
How did the blonde leave lipstick on the steering wheel?
She was trying to blow the horn.
