It’s not about winning or losing. It’s about looking like you couldn’t care less.

Starts slow but it gets steadily better. Don’t quit.

Update: Meghan Daum salutes hipster America’s haberdasher.

I cant believe I feel for that……..

doriangrey on August 25, 2007 at 12:53 PM

Wow. I have never seen all the different aspects of the “hipsters” brought together like that. That was really funny.

Guardian on August 25, 2007 at 1:05 PM

It’s about looking like you couldn’t care less.

I’m glad you said that correctly. A lot of people don’t.

BadgerHawk on August 25, 2007 at 1:10 PM

I must have missed the Latte sipping event. I love parodies about mediocrity.

Egfrow on August 25, 2007 at 1:16 PM

Classic

bj1126 on August 25, 2007 at 1:17 PM

I have several nieces and nephews who could really be contenders. That is if they could be dragged out of bed. The sad thing is, they have no idea how stupid they look to the rest of humanity. How ironic and if I may say so, hilarious.

Weehawken’s in Jersey.

Stephen M on August 25, 2007 at 1:21 PM

I must admit that I vaguely get it some of the references. Guess I am a little too old.
It’s a funny video but a sad commentary on our culture. But we all grow, hopefully.

TheSitRep on August 25, 2007 at 1:27 PM

I could care less that I couldn’t understand this at all.

Dusty on August 25, 2007 at 1:41 PM

I’m glad they mentioned this in the closing titles, reference the glaring sense of deja vu.

Ed Driscoll on August 25, 2007 at 1:52 PM

Hobo’s are the new unicorns! Love it.

Exactly. It drives me nuts especially when it’s in a script. Those people are supposed to know how to talk.

Harpoon on August 25, 2007 at 2:09 PM

Ha, Ha, loved it!

Now I’m heading out to find a cupcake empenada with a serving of irony on the side!!

RushBaby on August 25, 2007 at 2:23 PM

Don’t hate the playa. Hate the game.

E. M. on August 25, 2007 at 3:14 PM

That was hilarious, and makes a good point that goes over the head of hipsters… they try so hard to look like they aren’t trying. Obnoxious. It’s a lot easier for me to pick up a pair of white Polo khakis (at Costco of all places!), or a Gap hoody ($10 on the sale rack!) than it is to find vintage ironic clothing and lame hats to prove what an individual I am… especially when there are millions of other people trying to be individuals in exactly the same way.

RightWinged on August 25, 2007 at 3:29 PM

Vamos a la playa.

pedestrian on August 25, 2007 at 3:29 PM

They forgot to make a political donation to the presidential candidate least likely to get elected.

Ron Paul!

Neo on August 25, 2007 at 3:36 PM

There was a logo overlay for Vice towards the end.

I haven’t picked one up in years, but Vice Magazine used to be a painfully funny rag. It was run by a hybrid staff of Canadians and New Yorkers (I think).

Check out some of their tragically hip uber-coolness.

Timeless Monty Python’esq tribute

But I’m indifferent.

Vamos a la playa.

pedestrian on August 25, 2007 at 3:29 PM

So, if you have a PHD (playa hatin degree), is it called a be-ach?

The Race Card on August 25, 2007 at 4:42 PM

I love both Caribou/Manitoba & Of Montreal.

I didn’t really think they sold out.

Oh, well. I guess I get 50 hipster points deducted.

I don’t care. The world is basically ending anyway.

***200 Bonus Points***

Back in the game. Not that I care.

mattshu on August 25, 2007 at 4:44 PM

I like the music collection bragathon, and the ironic t-shirt competition.

It’s funny because it’s true.

Stormy70 on August 25, 2007 at 8:27 PM

I wouldn’t watch this or post here.

oakpack on August 26, 2007 at 2:10 AM

I bought a used Bar Mitzvah t-shirt at a thrift store back in 1990 when I was in my early 30s. If I want to know the next big thing to catch todays’ yutes I just look at my previous middle age. Is predictability hip?

Coronagold on August 26, 2007 at 8:11 AM

Am I tooooo old to have thought the following were coooool

MSGTAS on August 26, 2007 at 9:24 AM
