The reason my dog has been labeled a “Vicious Dog” can be traced to the hysteria over dog fighting and some irresponsible owners not the breed.

Not saying your breed or pit bulls are or are not vicious, but publicity and the drive to exclaim any type of Rottweiler or Pit bull attack as “media frenzy”.

Pit bulls can be raised to be great pets, just need a strong hand and firm training, Rottweilers the same.

Bulldogs were raised to attack bulls, dachounds raised to hunt and attack, most dogs were bred for hunting or attacking, or protecting. And they all have the ability to attack, if not raised and trained properly.

Just some people can’t train strong willed dogs like the Rotts and Pits.

Some NFL players, who have been silent lately, have expressed how dog fighting is commonplace in the NFL fraternity. And, since betting on dog fights is what this is all about, gambling is a big problem in the NFL.

Face it. One loves gambling if one uses dog fight gambling for a thrill.

Do we want gambling addicts tainting outcomes in the NFL? (Think about gambling addicted referees fixing NBA games…) Those who control legal and illegal sports betting in the United States would have to consider controlling gambling addicts participating in a NFL game. It’s a logical progression.

Wouldn’t this be a NFL that is dark and phony, an image that is hounding the NBA? The NFL does not want this image. Vick must be removed “indefinitely,” a euphemism for “permanent.”

The torturing and killing of dogs is a horror, but the purpose is to produce the ultimate animal that will help win bets.

Training dogs to be fighters for show, something beyond their natural instincts, then torturing and killing them, has no equivalence in my thinking. If there is a clear cut of behavior that is unquestionably evil, this must be it.

It might interest you to that Pit Bulls were selectively bred for dog fighting just like a sheep dog was selectively bred to herd sheep. The Pit Bull originally was used to herd cattle and take down marauding bulls. Hence the name of the breed. But they were selectively bred in later years to provide entertainment by fighting other animals, specifically dogs in the late 19th century.

As a dog lover, I would say yes it is despicable but you have to remember that this has been going on for over a thousand years.

It is their natural instinct because of selective breeding.

I own a Rottweiler that has been trained for personal defense as a Police Dog and spent 6 months being professionally trained. It is his natural instinct to protect me and with his training to attack someone by a command in German.

The Rottweiler bread originated in Rome and during World War II were selectively bred to become silent guard dogs because they do not bark while protecting their owners. A good trait when using them to go after criminals.

Even though my dog has never displayed any aggressiveness to human beings my insurance company refuses to insure my house without a rider because I own a “vicious dog”.Some people have said I have no right to own such a dog.

My neighbors would disagree, they all love my dog Caesar including the children.

I think some of you need to learn a little more about dogs and how certain breeds came into existence instead of projecting your feelings of sympathy to explain this situation.

I agree about torturing and killing them but your contention they do not have an instinct to fight other dogs is factually incorrect.

He’s one sick person….and anyone who hires him after needs to keep that in mind. People who go this far in abuse of animals….abuse others, particularly women and children.

I hope we are taking note of those famous in the press sticking up for him…..there may be more rings to bust up. Would not surprise me one bit.

Agree. There are definitely some great kids playing college ball. The trouble is the marauding illiterate thugs who have no business on a campus. Our colleges serve as a minor league for the NFL and the NBA. Letting someone play, knowing full well that he has no chance, nor any desire to, obtain a legitimate degree, is beyond foul and plenty dangerous. To justify it because said playa’s bring in the cash, helps explain why we’re where we are…

How can a despicable, despised by nearly everyone thing like dog fighting be worth such a loss, an entire life’s promise of greatness…gone.

This activity involves two consenting adults in a controlled environment. I don’t like the sport either. But the same can be said for all professional sports.

We slaughter thousands of animals a day in meat packing plants… not a biggy…

It’s used for food and all. Not just for sport with no social gain. Besides, I don’t have the time to do it myself.

Kill a dog, even one you OWN, and boy is it trouble… theres a case here in Denver where a a guy shot his own dog… he’s going to get jail time… yet vets and animal shelters put down animals every day…

Though I don’t totally agree with you there is some truth in what you’re saying.

I think our academic institutions should be for academics, sports shouldn’t be part of advanced studies.

However I’m sure there are a lot of people who would take exception with that.

You painting with a very broad brush there JWS. For every Vick there are dozens and dozens of great human being playing the game. And those players bring in money that pays a substantial portion on the freight for the entire school.

According to the plea, these morons had shirts and headbands made up with “Bad Newz Kennels” on them. It’s not that they didn’t think they’d get caught, they just didn’t think at all.
