Heart-ache: Bush calls North American Union suspicions “comical”; Update: Fox News all-stars debate NAU!

posted at 1:51 pm on August 23, 2007 by Allahpundit

The passion for this theory must be fading as fast as Trutherism because we’ve only gotten two or three angry “WHY AREN’T YOU COVERING THIS?” e-mails since the summit began. I can’t say much, but let me answer that question this way:

That new headlines page didn’t just pay for itself.

Gotta grit my teeth and reluctantly tip my cap to Media Matters for making this catch, too. After the clip, head over to Johnny Dollar’s site and listen to Tancredo and a few callers react to his brawl last night with Geraldo. J$’s exact words in pitching it to me: “Plus there’s an oblique slam at KP!” You know what I like, you magnificent bastard.

Update: It’s been a slow news week.

Bush said there’s a difference between reality and what people have been saying about this meeting. That could mean it’s MUCH worse than we think.

Come on, like they’d even let Bush know if they were making a NAU

Number 2 on August 23, 2007 at 2:01 PM

In jest, I played divvil’s advocate on my blog last year, pretending to be in favor of this “North American Union” as it would ‘fix’ the illegal immigration problem if we did away with the Mexican/US border.
One of our Canadian friend’s went off on us, screaming that Americans assume that everyone wants to be like them.
President Bush finds the idea comical, which is all it will take for the truthers to start demonstrating against Bush’s secret plan.
I would have found it comical if, when asked about the “NAU”,
he would have gotten all scared and sweaty and stared into the camera and said:

That’s because people have finally accepted the fact that you are one of THEM.

Kidding aside, I see so much rolling over for Mexico on trade issues, we are creating a de facto North American Union — amero or no amero. Can’t wait for the Mexican trucks to come rolling in killing fellow Americans because the trucks are unsafe and the drivers are worse and smuggling God knows what.

Question: If we work on a system where each of the countries between the 3 of them standardize labelling requirements, is that a bad thing?

If all 3 countries decide to accept a single drug testing standard, is that such a bad thing?

If all 3 countries decide to accept a single safety and emissions standard is that such a bad thing?

Naturally, the one thing that absolutely must be kept is the US Consitution, since it’s a much better document than the mess that is the Canadian Constition

Reporter: Mr President, is it true that you and the leaders of Mexico and Canada were conspiring against the American people to sell them out to certain business interests?

George W. Bush: Don’t make me laugh! That is so comical. How can some people be so silly?

Reporter: Mr President, is it true that you have decided to put a fence along the border with Mexico after all? And a follow up question sir, if so what will it look like?

George W. Bush: That is a very good question and yes I have. What will it look like? Well it will run the full length of the border and have special security gates every 100 feet.

All the security gates will have on them:

1) Press one for Spanish (with a response of “Welcome Amigo, please take a free map to the wonderful employer of your choice”).

2) Press two for Arabic (with a response of “Welcome honored member of the Religion of Peace, please make yourself right at home”).

3) Press three for English (with a response of “Go to Hell you damed bigoted nativist conspiracy monger who does not want what is right for America!!!”).

Just think of the possiblities. We can make Ron Paul President of Mexico and with the passing soon of Castro we have a place where Hillary Care can work with the right woman as El Presidente of Havana

On the Daily show John Stewart suggested that Obama try governing a small country before the US and Obama Joked he could invade Grenada. But I think a better fit for him is Haiti and if he can solve their problems it would be a big boost to the US.

Bushito is totally in my pocket now. I have been teaching him EVEN more Spanish, snd talking him out of going hunting with his VP and thereby probably saving his life. He owes me BIG TIME! He’s my little brother now, my little Muchacho, my little Chihuahua.

Most of your House is in my pocket. Most all of your Senate is in my pocket. I have bought off or blackmailed almost all of them now. A bunch of pesos here, several women there, a young boy for a few of them, a little male attention for a certain Senator from New York. Her husband still neglects her something awful. Oh my Lord, the things she wants me to do to her. It makes my skin crawl, but it is for a good cause.

A little booze spread around. Alright a whole lot of gin for a certain Senator. Ay curumba, can he ever put it down. And his son, double ay curumba. That rehab stuff sure didn’t do him any good! I’m not even sure that he went. Telling a certain other Senator that I would get him a lot of media time, he loves that so much. I have even offered him and his poco empalma a muchacho Linsayo their own 24×7 TV station. You have no chance GRINGOS.

Your Grandfathers kept you from having to learn German or Japanese or be lamp shades. But YOU ARE NOT the men or women that they were, not even close.

Once we get our amnesty, we will all come to your country. We will all have at least 10 kids and in a generation we will overwhelm and deport most of you Gringos! Some of you, if you learn Spanish real well, we might let you stay to pick our lettuce or mow our lawns or take care of OUR children in what used to be your houses.

Those who don’t learn Spanish will be deported to Alaska. That is until Al Gore’s global warming heats things up and we want Alaska too, then we will deport you all to New Orleans. It will probably all be under water by then anyway. I hope you Gringos can swim, he, he, he. My bad!!!

So give it up and LEARN SPANISH! You should probably all buy Mexican flags too and fly them in your front yard and on your pickup trucks. If you already have an American flag there it is alright if you keep it, as long as you fly it upside down and below our great Mexican flag.

Now repeat after me – I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of Mucho Grande Mexico, and to the Republic for which it use to stand, one nation under me, with everything for us, and nothing for you.

And remember Gringos,

APRENDER EL ESPANOL!!!

Regards, Vicente Fox

Canadian Imperialist Running Dog on August 23, 2007 at 2:20 PM

The reason it is a bad thing is because such items come in treaty form, not Congressional law. This is the problem with the European Union. It is not simply a trade agreement. It is a one-way transfer of decision making from the national elected accountable body to a super-national body, appointed by some elite overgroup. So if the UBER body of the EU decides that vitamins must not only be standardized in labeling, but regulated, and then restricted, the treaty has removed the right of individual nations to opt out of that decision by a vote of the citizens. The loss of freedom in Europe is stunning, not funny.

A similar example happened a few years ago when the state of Florida tried to restrict the importation of tomatoes from (mainly) Mexico that were not grown to the safety standards, and pesticide use etc mandated in Florida. The trade treaty UBER organization imposed penalties upon Florida for not obeying the trade agreement that was a treaty and imposed fines of millions of dollars a day upon the state until it removed the requirements that tomatos brought into Florida be grown with the same safety standards as tomatos grown in Florida. Florida had no recourse and the crap from Mexico has flooded in ever since, e coli and all.

Bush has proven himself to me to be a lying fraud. I have absolutely no reason to trust his explanation for meeting with the leader of Mexico on this, since Bush is siding with the Mexicans against the American public on the issue of Mexican border control.

I guess all the Texans that are having their land taken from them by eminent domain to build the highway are tin foil hat citizens too.

Leading Conservatives Denounce Bush on ‘North American Union’

Most recently, U.S. Ambassador to Canada David Wilkins called the opposition to the SPP “conspiracy theories.” In an editorial in the Ottawa Citizen Monday, Wilkins said that “while conspiracy theories abound, you can take it to the bank that no one involved in these discussions is interested in, or has ever proposed, a ‘North American Union,’ a ‘North American super highway’ or a ‘North American currency.’”

Wilkins further wrote that “security with prosperity remains the defining vision of the leaders’ meeting” and that “each [nation] will continue to protect its own interests, but it makes sense, as friends and neighbors, to sit down together and see what we might accomplish better together.”

Phillips responded by noting that Wilkins was appointed by Bush and represents an administration that “does not have a reputation for straight talking or accuracy … .” And it’s high time for the SPP organizers to “tear down the wall of silence and let the people see what you are scheming to do,” he said.

There we go… now we have Mr. Wilkins statements in the HotAir archive… just in case he turns out to be not so accurate in the future.

bnelson44 on August 23, 2007 at 3:18 PM

Yes… that is what the NAU is all about, jelly bean standardization and how much pesticide to put on a head of lettuce, obviously these are high level Presidential decisions. Can you imagin the implications of getting the jelly bean size wrong !!!! ?? Heaven help us all. The NAU road is in fact being built, just like you heard them say in the lower video. But I guess they won’t call it the NAU hi-way anymore… maybe they will call it the jelly bean hi-way now.

But I’m still worried, just because you have the top three leaders of the Free World to discuss the proper jelly bean size ( and what’s for lunch – which must be kept totally secret of course, for obvious reasons ) doesn’t mean they are going to get it right. I like this article from CNS News:

The SPP meetings (the fourth since 2005) have afforded little access to the media and no access to the general public except for leaders of some large corporations taking part in the concurrent North American Competitiveness Council. The secrecy has led activists on both sides of the political aisle to develop ideas about what might be happening behind closed doors.

Why are unelected leaders meeting behind closed doors and the press is given no access?

and then there is this:
Conservative author Jerome Corsi criticized supporters of the SPP for labeling opponents “conspiracy theorists.” (See Video)

the ‘amnesty’ bill has nothing to do with a Conspiracy theory of a “NAU”…..its all about the combination of the baby boomer stress to our entitlement programs, combined with business wishes, combined with some politics(not wanting to piss off hispanics they way blacks are towards GOP).

Notice how they tried to reform Social Security first, with a GOP House and Congress and it was POLITICALLY IMPOSSIBLE, and that is nothing compared to Medicare.

So the answer for dealing with the Baby boomers not having enough babies to pay for them and at same time refusing to allow Social Security to be touched which means the same for other entitlements, combined with what Welfare has done with much of our poor, combined with what happened with the Black vote after LBJ’s “Great Society” bs which the Repubs oppossed(before this Repubs. got around 70% of black vote)…….its not hard to figure out there actions, you don’t have to look for an ungovernable “NOrth American Union” conspiracy.

the public should really look in the mirror.

BS. GWB says it all is a conspiracy theory.

The Working Groups have not been debated in Congress or enumerated in the Constitution. In fact, Bush denies that he ever signed the SPP agreement even though March 23, 2005:
The leaders of Canada, the United States and Mexico sign the Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP) of North America at the trilateral summit in Waco, Texas. Canada is signed on by Prime Minister Paul Martin.

Paul Martin said he signed the SPP, so which is it?

ScottyDog on August 23, 2007 at 5:00 PM

For those of you that think this is just a conspiracy theory. Why does the Canadian Media cover this issue while FoxNews and the rest of the MSM say it is a conspiracy?

It is being blacked out in the American Media except on Lou Dobbs.

10,000 Canadians tried to submit petitions to their political leaders at the SPP in Montebello and they refused to accept them.

Video

From the Canadian Newspaper Vive le Canada

http://www.vivelecanada.ca/staticpages/index.php/20060830133702539

Now you know why Bush refuses to build the fence and enforce the borders. Under the SPP or NAU, there will be no borders between Mexico and the USA.

If he was serious about the borders, he would send 50,000 armed National Guard down to the border and stop the invasion from Mexico.

ScottyDog on August 23, 2007 at 5:23 PM

ya know

someone once told me that the further right you go and the further left you go

the more the two sides agree.

I was just talking to a truther I know (Yes. I do talk to them … when I have to … I have a job ya know, and they hire all kinds), and he was all about the NAU.

I was of course laughing hysterically.

Now don’t get me wrong. It is possible that we’re moving in that direction, and it may eventually happen.

Does mexico want it? SURE! So long as they get lots of money out of it and can export their poor and remain sovereign. Does Canada? tough call, but if they do it’s likely so they can better bleed our economy to keep themselves prosperous.

Does Bush want that? No. Better alliance? Yes. Does he care about the border. NO! Does he care about our sovereignty? Obviously.

nuts.

they’re everywhere.

One Angry Christian on August 23, 2007 at 5:27 PM

the highway is being built in Texas without the consent of the people who voted against the highway. how long will it take to move into the next state?

doggod on August 23, 2007 at 5:36 PM

What would happen if somebody flipped a switch and tomorrow an NAU was in place?

Millions of Mexicans would come here, or no?

Most Canadians could still care less?

Speakup on August 23, 2007 at 5:41 PM

Blah Blah Blah…

You always know you have a “conspiracy theory” when an idea builds the importance of minutia and neglects to address necessary elements of reality.

Will Mexico with its vast unemployed population supply our army – troops for the US to deploy at will? Will Canada become the source for ALL of our energy needs – without environmental organization interference?

When I see Mexico sends 100,000 troops to Iraq, and Canada goes coal mine crazy – then I may take a look.

It may be necessary one day better organize this hemisphere (the Organization of American States already exists) to take on a unified over seas threat. But for now they don’t bring anything to the table. And what they do have, would have to be COMPLETELY under our control.

I’m just looking for a little intellectual honesty here.

Theworldisnotenough on August 23, 2007 at 3:11 PM

You’re not about to get any intellectual honesty from Allah on this topic. He spits out his garbage and then vanishes, refusing to respond to legitimate questions asked of him.

It’s standard practice.

I suggested to him last year that he should put up a poll asking how many of his readers believed there is an effort to create an NAU and I was ignored. It was suggested that there was no way to create an individual poll on a HotAir thread, yet … since then there has been several. Still waiting. Allah knows that most of his readers believe that Bush is actively chasing the plan.

It was also asked of Allah if he owned any stock or financial interest in any corporations that would benefit from an NAU or Trans-corridor. Perhaps stock in a Mexican candy company, or something else. IGNORED.

Don’t bother asking him to admit that it’s a possibility. He knows it is, but he’ll never admit it. He’ll simply hide behind his ridicule, which is all he’s got.

So HotAir didn’t obey Gregor’s demands! Sons a b**tches! Don’t they know this is Gregor.com!!!

And I honestly laughed out loud at your insinuation that AP could be making money off of the NAU. You are a nut.

RightWinged on August 23, 2007 at 9:45 PM

It’s all just a big coincidence. Bush cares about our sovereignty, that’s why he’s working so damn hard to keep our borders safe… ummm… yeah, anyway…

Besides, we have our Constitution, which makes it impossible for a few elitists to dictate how this country will be run, like Roe v. Wade for examp… uhhhh… hmmm…

Feh, anyway we’re talking about foreign policy which is restricted in very specific ways by the Constitution, like the way we can’t go to war for years at a stretch unless Congress declares w…

Well it would never be done because it’s completely unprecedented. It’s not like a bunch of countries ever decided to form a union and argued about silly things like how much skin barmaids can display, what kinds of milk can be used for gourmet cheeses, or… errrrrr…

Yeah Allahpundit, you stick it to those stupid NAU-sayers!

angryoldfatman on August 23, 2007 at 10:55 PM

The belief in the NAU or Truther garbage is probably as good of evidence as any that more people need to step away from the keyboard, get some fresh air, and read a book once in awhile.

Theworldisnotenough on August 23, 2007 at 3:11 PM

I totally agree. Did everyone miss that narrowly defeated vote in the senate that would have have made this defacto true?

Nothing but strawmen when you sit around and pontificate about officials having secret meetings with actual plans to make something actually called the NAU.

Total facts posted = 0

Nice job. Keep kissing a$$. Maybe you’ll get an iPod out of it.

An iPod? What are you talking about? Is that part of the conspiracy theory now? If we members of the Bush NAU propaganda militia go out on message boards to mock those exposing us, he’ll give us all iPods?

And who’s ass did I kiss? Mocking you for insisting that there should be specific poll on this site, just because you want it here is kissing the ass of…. who?

Now, if you’ll excuse me, we have our weekly “how do we silence Alex Jones” meeting. I believe we’ll be discussing how to silence you at next week’s potluck. Gregor’s march towards exposing the Truth must be stopped at all costs! Don’t you know, he has seen our maps for the superhighway on the internet!!!

Gregor on August 24, 2007 at 9:51 AM

Finally, AP ‘covers’ the NAU. Apparently he thinks it’s less important than the usual non-stories that he posts along with a giggly mention of Kirsten Moron Powers. Perhaps AP work for The Huffington Post, it’s more his style and he might get a date with KMP that way.

Check out Jerome Corsi’s book and then tell me the NAU is a wild-eyed conspiracy theory. There is no better reason for the lax attitude of our gov’t to enforce immigration law.

Christine on August 24, 2007 at 10:08 AM

You NAU conspiracy Trooferheads are so silly. Don’t you know there are no rich elites trying to ruin America? Even if there were, they wouldn’t be able to do anything because of our Constitution and laws which provide ample protection for our basic rights.

Besides, our news media would most assuredly counter the “agenda” of these non-existent elites. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a silly, moronic kook.

angryoldfatman on August 24, 2007 at 11:00 AM

That could mean it’s MUCH worse than we think.

Is is not in the Representative’s interest to inspire trust in the represented?

If that trust get eroded then what is the point?

Note to our politicians:
For Pete’s sake, QUIT DOING THINGS THAT APPEAR TO BE DONE WITHOUT OUR APPROVAL!!!!

I mean how hard is that?

IDIOTS!!

While I watch the earth movers and bull dozers tear up the Texas landscape, I will tell myself “there is no NAFTA highway”.

While I listen to Rick Perry telling Texans that the TTC is needed for the movement of goods and people from Mexico to Oklahoma, I will tell myself “there is no NAFTA highway.”

While I read how Governor Rick Perry vetoed a Congressional 2 year moratorium on the TransTexas Corridor, I will tell myself “there is no NAFTA highway.”

As I sit and wait for TxDOT to determine how much they [not a independent appraiser] are going to pay me for my land [to be determined by the state] that will be taken for the TTC, I will tell myself “there is no NAFTA highway.”

While DOT decides if they are going to open our highways to Mexican trucks [much against the better judgement of the Texas Department of Public Safety], I will tell myself “there is no NAFTA highway.”

AP!…when was the last time you were comforted when Bush said not to worry & called us all silly fools for thinking there might be something amiss????….I am one of the ppl who kept sending those articles questioning this Great Highway of Mr.Rogers Neighborhood. And all Religions are equal & equally uninteresting & President Bush has a car for me.

lobosan5 on August 24, 2007 at 1:21 PM

I think most of the concerns about the SPP would go away if Americans could get some sense of sovereignty back. That can’t happen with massive immigration, where you constantly have to move to avoid Mexican gangs and are constantly seeing foreign nationals trying to influence our politics.

PRCalDude on August 24, 2007 at 1:38 PM

I forgot to say that Jerome Corsi’s book is called: The Late, Great U.S.A., the coming Merger with Canada and Mexico.
Another read, and much duller is at http://www.spp.gov. They purposely make it a long, dull read at their website so that we won’t get to the awful truth about it.
For those of you who would rather attack the messengers because your denial is much more comfortable, I ask: Why are these meetings closed? Why are there people in Texas who see the Nafta Superhighway being gouged into the landscape just dismissed as “kooks”? Most importantly: Why are our immigration laws not being enforced? Why is the fence that was passed and funded not being built?
There are many other questions that you can’t answer without admitting that the NAU is forming, no matter what our gov’t media complex says. And after the amnesty debacle they are terrified of exposing the truth on the NAU.

Dubya, FNC, CNN and Calderon are all in the pockets of the globalist “businessmen” that Calderon spoke about. It isn’t a stretch to believe that big money involved here and if we could follow the money to these unnamed businessmen, we would!
And, BTW, why wasn’t Calderon’s speech included in these pathetic clips? I’m surprised that AP posted anything at all about the NAU if there were ‘only a few angry comments’ about it’s non-coverage. Oh, I forgot, it’s a slow news day…But, I know why he chose to post these clips: they agree with his viewpoint and try to shut us up by insulting us. Actually, it has the opposite effect.

Christine on August 24, 2007 at 1:42 PM

I’m surprised that AP posted anything at all about the NAU

Christine on August 24, 2007 at 1:42 PM

AP actually likes to post about the NAU, but he only does so to mock and ridicule his own readers. He has never actually debated the topic or attempted to debunk it. He posts mocking photos of Tancredo, comparisons to truthers, and then runs away and hides. He loves to link to the article by Hawkins, but then refuses to respond when someone points out that Hawkins’ debunking has since been debunked.

Gregor on August 24, 2007 at 1:56 PM

If I’m the nut, then I’m proud to be one. However, in a nutshell, it’s obvious that one angry ‘Christian’ is projecting.

I also think that folks on this website and many others have a gag order on this issue and if it weren’t for the insults, I would be sympathetic to their/his plight.

Gregor is doing great work to ensure we remain a Constitutional Republic. Six months ago we were both being told we wear tin foil hats but now the facts are coming out and most Americans do not like what they see.

I too Recommend Corsi’s book, it is a great read although depressing.
