I hate to steal your “holier than thou” thunder there, Ghandi, but of course jihanddists are NOT known for rejoicing after viewing the violent death of an enemy.

What jihaddists are known for is rejoicing after the violent deaths of INNOCENT PEOPLE. Which is, of course, the exact opposite.

Otherwise though, you make a very good point: self-righteously pretending to solomnly mourn the “tragic” death of this mass murderer can help morally retarded people feel superior to all of us “evil Christians” who don’t realize that “terrorists are people too.”

The hard reality is that if videos like this discourage people from helping AQI, then they do some good. If we keep course in Iraq there will be a stable democracy and our children won’t have to make the same choices.

I’m with Esthier. Rejoicing after viewing the violent death of an enemy is exactly what the jihadists are known for. While I’m certainly glad this person isn’t around to kill any other people, it doesn’t make me all warm and fuzzy to see a human body explode.

I think AllahPundit pegged some us the other day after posting this video the first time. Though many of us profess to be Christians, the overwhelming reaction to this didn’t seem to be very…Christian. AP’s comments certainly helped me remember that sometimes we need to take a step back and examine how we react to these things.

Watch the video carefully, it is an air burst. The detonation is approximately 2 to 3 meters from our friendly Jihadist. That is a descending not ascending burst pattern. The blast is coming down on him, not expanding around or ascending up from his position.

Excalibur and SCORPION rounds are self guided proximity munitions and both are accurate to within about a meter.

As to exactly how this was accomplished I cannot say and my speculation regarding Excalibur and SCORPION munitions is just that speculation.

“if” the blast were being redirected by an equal or greater mass acting on the blast. In such a case what physics dictate happen would be a nearly spherical blast with a conical trail in the direction of greatest acceleration, which would be away from the Jihadist.

However since what you do see is a blast traveling towards the Jihadist instead of away from him it becomes quite clear that the only way this could happen is an invocation of Newtons first law.

In other words in order for the blast to be traveling towards the Jihadist an external force of substantially greater force had to be acting on the outgoing round fired by the Jihadist.

Considering the rate at which the Jihadist was firing his rounds it isn’t even much of a coincidence that the incoming round arrived just as he was firing a round.

What I find interesting is that the incoming round was obviously an proximity round. Well that and that it looks as if it was the proximity to the outgoing round that triggered the proximity detonation.

Not only did the incoming round have a far greater velocity than the outgoing round it clearly was of a far greater kinetic dispersion as well. 155mm Excalibur round perhaps?
