Video: Bill Maher kinda sorta endorses Silky

He’s above anything so gauche as a formal endorsement but pretty clearly his heart lies with the Breck Girl. And why not? If there’s anyone who should appeal to a self-professed libertarian, it’s an oily trial lawyer running on an aggressive share-the-wealth platform.
Note his insistence that “he’s not a left-wing guy,” too. Yet another perverse example of a liberal denying that a liberal agenda is liberal. See also Ellensburg, Rick.

Not a left wing guy eh? Have you seen the polls on Daily Kos? John Edwards handily wins each and every poll. That’s gotta tell you something.
SoulGlo on August 21, 2007 at 9:44 PM
I can’t even tolerate his voice anymore, it just drips of contempt for anything positive.
bbz123 on August 21, 2007 at 9:45 PM
Maher is a waste of time.
xplodeit on August 21, 2007 at 9:45 PM
Bill Maher not a left-wing guy? Yeah, and he’s the Pope, too.
Oh wait a minute, that doesn’t wash. Maher’s an atheist on steroids.
Kimmer on August 21, 2007 at 9:48 PM
Yeah. It tells us that the nutroots are going to lose.
Blake on August 21, 2007 at 9:49 PM
I feel the same way…I just can’t stand that much negativity…
Pam on August 21, 2007 at 9:49 PM
Who cares what this lowlife is going to vote for? The only reason he was on TV tonite was because he didn’t have any roofies to take to the playboy mansion and he couldn’t get laid without them.
peacenprosperity on August 21, 2007 at 9:50 PM
This guy is the supreme definition of pinhead.
JellyToast on August 21, 2007 at 9:50 PM
Maher does not matter. His opinion is a waste of clean air.
portlandbob on August 21, 2007 at 9:50 PM
Maher.is.worthless.
PBoilermaker on August 21, 2007 at 9:51 PM
Have to confess. Never watched the guy before. He’s a comedian? For who-Hillary, Hussein, and Edwards? What an ass. GUARANTEE he got the sh*t beat out of him all through his school years…
JWS on August 21, 2007 at 9:53 PM
BTW, Bill’s shelf life is almost up. Loved the friendly smile at the end. Michelle?…
JWS on August 21, 2007 at 9:54 PM
NOOOOOOO!!! WHAT ABOUT THE REPUBLICAN SIDE??? YOU CUT IT OFF TO EARLY, ALLAH!
Troy Rasmussen on August 21, 2007 at 10:07 PM
That should read, “TOO EARLY. . .” Sorry for the grammatical mishap.
Troy Rasmussen on August 21, 2007 at 10:10 PM
I thought Maher was a Ron Paul guy?
bnelson44 on August 21, 2007 at 10:13 PM
Wow, I had him pegged as a Ron Paul guy.
TheSitRep on August 21, 2007 at 10:13 PM
Wow that is what you could simultaneous thought and action.
TheSitRep on August 21, 2007 at 10:14 PM
It hit me today. Bill Maher’s career is like the Friday the 13th franchise. Like Jason Voorhees, Maher always comes back to life and whatever project he’s the star of is guaranteed to be even crappier than the last one, but he just doesn’t go away.
Bad Candy on August 21, 2007 at 10:17 PM
You are missing something here…
Maher is the center of the Universe!
Therefore of course He and Silky are not left wing.
Get it now?
Mcguyver on August 21, 2007 at 10:18 PM
I watched Maher several years ago when he was was on “Politically Incorrect.” Then he started advocating condoms in schools, because “they all do it.” As the parent of a then-teenage daughter, that rankled me beyond words. Never watched his program again.
In retrospect, maybe this idea of his that “they all do it” was his fantasy; of course then again with that face . . .
Kimmer on August 21, 2007 at 10:29 PM
What’s with the law book props behind him. Is that supposed to fool people into thinking Maher is smart of something?
Blake on August 21, 2007 at 10:33 PM
If the playboy bunnies weren’t under direct orders from that other ugly geezer, Hef, Maher could never get his knob polished unless he paid a hooker.
Blake on August 21, 2007 at 10:35 PM
So right, Blake. Hef, Maher, and the Rolling Stones–faces that make a freight train take a dirt road.
Kimmer on August 21, 2007 at 10:48 PM
Ooouuuh.. you are so bad!!!!
Mcguyver on August 21, 2007 at 10:50 PM
I don’t waste time on Hollywood comedians.

Farmers aren’t regular guys?!!?

MirCat on August 21, 2007 at 10:59 PM
How come Maher wasn’t wearing the faux bloody manta ray spike in his chest to show what a decent guy he really is?
His assessment -in 2002, which got him thrown off ABC- that the 9/11 hijackers had “courage” (I guess sociopaths who sucker punch old ladies have “courage” too) showed me what a loser he was.
He deserves as much air time as Saddam’s feet got.
profitsbeard on August 21, 2007 at 11:05 PM
What is it with FOX NEWS? Bill Maher on O’reilly now????
Yeah, like I’m really going to sit there and watch an interview with THAT sh*thead!…lol….
I mean, if you saw Whore-aldo and Bill Maher sitting on the sidewalk (1st alternate- Juan Williams), would you be able to resist kicking both of the them in head and giggling uncontrollably as you ran away?
I’m giggling just thinking about it.
Oh, by the way….note to Bill Maher…Nice head, Bill! Is that your mother’s nose? And thanks to FOX NEWS programming for putting the pathetic SOB POS on during dinner!
Maher’s skin looks like 3 days until florescent lights in an unrefrigerated fish market.
GAH!
Keith_Z on August 21, 2007 at 11:12 PM
I don’t know why O’Reilly puts Maher on the show. After all the anti-troop comments this slimeball has made, he shouldn’t be given a platform.
katieanne on August 21, 2007 at 11:15 PM
Everywhere else he’s been, he’s said he likes what Kucinich has to say. But he’s not a left-wing guy either, right? His new season starts this week I think. That’s why he’s popping up again.
PowWow on August 21, 2007 at 11:18 PM
Maher is completely out of touch with the reality of life. It’s people like him who take for granted the liberties that they have, and then turn around and smugly no less, tell all of US what we are doing wrong. Ugh. If he had to run his home the way he would like us to run our country, (in other words had to do as he says, not as he does) he’d be bankrupt and homeless in no time – but of course would blame everyone but himself fot the failure.
KMC1 on August 21, 2007 at 11:20 PM
You’ll never hear a conservative say, “Now, I’m not a right wing guy…” We’re proud of who we are.
Mojave Mark on August 21, 2007 at 11:35 PM
Theres something about Bill Maher I can’t put my finger on it , wait oh yeah now I remember! Gee Mr. Maher I would like to take you seriously but you seem to have lost ALL credibility by mocking a dead MAN!
sonnyspats1 on August 22, 2007 at 12:11 AM
Who cares. Bill M is worthless.
congsan on August 22, 2007 at 12:29 AM
By the power vested in me I hereby bestow and bequethe the highest honor of douchebaggery to you Bill Maher! Congradulations you F’n attention whore.
sonnyspats1 on August 22, 2007 at 12:49 AM
I guess I’m the only one more annoyed by O’Reilly than Maher.
I doubt Edwards’ healthcare plan involves gutting some of the, in fact, bullshit programs, which, from a conservative point of view, should be gutted, such as drug war money. Of course, military spending and implemented tax cuts I wouldn’t include in that catagory.
O’Reilly always paints with broad strokes, saying Edwards wants to cut in run, raise taxes, and socialize healthcare, which is more or less true, but Maher tries to actually go into detail as to why he disagrees, and O’Reilly counters with cutting him off, and then obnoxiously saying “but i may be wrong.”
I think we all fundamentally agree with most of what O’Reilly preaches, but wouldn’t you say he goes overboard in his generalizations?
treyevans on August 22, 2007 at 1:21 AM
Both maher and silky are lefty loons in denial…of course maher isn’t going to see silky any differently than himself.
Highrise on August 22, 2007 at 3:10 AM
Bill Maher = lead paint victim.
saved on August 22, 2007 at 6:11 AM
Exactly right.
It’s both funny and sad, too, because once upon a time, it was the Left that embraced optimism and the Right that was (or was purported to be) dour and sour and focused on gritty negativism and realism.
Today, the “hip” Left has this whole shtick based on negativism, sarcasm, and cynicism, founded in a cynical distrust of just about everything. If you have something positive to say about just about anything, you aren’t welcome in the brave new world of 21st century liberalism.
It’s not just annoying, its frankly depressing. Even if you agree with liberal positions, their entire attitude today, their whole world view, is so bleakly pessimistic.
And Bill Maher is the absolute poster child for that attitude.
If you have faith in anything at all, if you’re proud of anything …. well, all you’re good for is a smirk and an eye roll and a condescending shake of the head … since you’re such a sucker for buying into the American dream.
I pity Maher and those like him.
Professor Blather on August 22, 2007 at 8:13 AM
Yes.
I just don’t think O’Reilly is very intelligent. I don’t think he’s capable of going beyond generalizations. It’s for precisely that reason that, although I usually agree with him, I don’t care him for much.
His show isn’t worth watching most of the time … with the only exceptions being when a certain guest host takes over.
O’Reilly has his uses: specifically, he can be a real bulldog when he sinks his teeth into something, and when its a good cause – like the 9/11 charity debacle – then he serves a very useful purpose.
Most of the time, though, I’m just amazed at how simple-minded he is.
