Is Elvira Arellano more like Harriet Tubman or Rosa Parks?

Tough call. I think she’s more like a combination of Moses, Lincoln, and MLK, but if you want to go whole hog and make the Jesus comparison, I won’t be mad at you. After all, that’s what KP would do.
Your quote of the day, from the “sacred, magical” Chicago Sun-Times newsroom: “I believe a lot of people don’t like Arellano simply because they find her ‘uppity.’”

Elvira Arellano is more like the real Elvira Arellano now.
i.e., a ‘victim’ no more.

I wasn’t arguing with you, but simply using your “better way of life” quote. Thanks.

More like a criminal who stole a loaf of bread because they were hungry… oh and about $500 in cash because… um, hmm.
Did I mention hungry, or does that just cover bread?
gekkobear on August 21, 2007 at 6:56 PM
I agree 100% here. The problem with the US isnt that we have people trying to come here for a good life. The problem is that we have made it too easy to “beat the system” and get freebees for life. Its the welfare state that is broken not our immigration policy
William Amos on August 21, 2007 at 7:03 PM
What? No BVM comparisons? Assumed into Meh-Hee-Koh - just a few days late.

Kirsten — oops! — I mean Eric: this child is not only an American, he is, according to a 1996 “Constitutional Reform” in Mexico, also a Mexican citizen:
“The Mexican Citizenship will extend to first generation children born abroad.”
“Our American” is also “Mexico’s Mexican,” and it is his mother who chose to leave him here, rather than take him with her to Mexico, (that place she referred to yesterday as “my country”).
She chose not to “take care of” this child, and it is she, not the local, state or federal government, who bears the moral and legal responsibility for this child.
Rather than act as a mother, keeping her child with her at all costs, she chose to use him as a political tool.
Let the U.S. start proceedings to make this abandoned child a ward of the state, and find out how fast Elvira and the Mexican government will howl about the dual citizenship of “our American.”

She’s more like Elian Gonzalez’s relatives in Miami, out for personal gain not the well-being of the child.
aengus on August 21, 2007 at 7:36 PM
Hunh? Elian’s mother lost her life trying to come to this country with her son. Her relatives in Miami wanted to keep him here—which is where his mother wanted him to be. Instead, Clinton saw to it that he was returned to his absentee father in a third world country.

AMEN to this.
reine.de.tout on August 21, 2007 at 8:02 PM
Wrong comparison.
Is she more like a burglar or a pickpocket?
profitsbeard on August 21, 2007 at 8:25 PM
OK. She can have the front seat on the bus back to Mexico.

TheSitRep-
I was going to add:
“Or is she more like Typhoid Mary or Tokyo Rose.”
But thought it would be diluting my first point, then, on finally reading the preceding comments, I saw you hit on the same two.
I always wondered if telepathy was real.
Pick a number between 1 and 3….

NEITHER.!!! Harriet Tubman and Rosa Parks were outstanding citizens. How can you even put a person convicted twice of violating our countrys sovereignty, and then committing identity theft, and then go on to tell 20 million others to do the same…That’s why they like to march on MayDay. I say she’s more like a communist agitator..

I was afraid that was going to happen..sorry for the double post the first one just didn’t want to leave home base??
Legions on August 21, 2007 at 8:52 PM
So where is the father? I guess didn’t run to the church when she had urges to open her legs….
I’m still confused about another thing: If she loved her son so much she couldn’t bare leaving him alone, why didn’t she take him back to Mexico?
My final comment: Thank the Lord that the Amnesty failed and she won’t get the chance to stay here. We need less people like her who think we owe them something because they let their country go to hell…

during the ellis island days the most fearsom procedure was the man who examined the prospective immigrants for the various communicable deseases of the time.
the fellow looked at the person for maybe a minute or two and then declared them ok or sick. ok went through the golden door. sick went back to europe.
well about twenty years ago the public health gang managed to almost wipe out several of the worst deseases. there is a practice in some foriegn countries to treat the sniffles with massive doses of antibiotics. our doctors wanted to hold off on this for when they were really needed.
now because of the uncontrolled fence jumping and the uncontrolled antibiotic use in the countries they come through several of those deseases are in resurgance.
THATS ONE OF THE REASONS THAT WE MUST CONTROL IMMIGRATION AND OUR BORDERS.

She’s an attention whore. Anyone see Barbershop and the comments about Rosa Parks, Jesse Jackson and Rev. Al? She no doubt wants to be the face of the illegal immigrant movement. Look for book deals and feature films in the future.
jeffNWV on August 21, 2007 at 9:27 PM
Plenty of people lose their lives trying to come from Mexico to America with their children. I think children should be with their parents, or in this case their one surviving parent. Even if it is a third world country (Mexico, Cuba) it’s still the right thing to do. The fact that Elian’s mother lost her life is KP-stlye emotionalism.
aengus on August 21, 2007 at 9:28 PM
Ms. Arellano has been this country illegally twice and just spent a year squatting in “sanctuary.” I’d say she most reminds me of Over Parks.
Dr. Charles G. Waugh on August 22, 2007 at 1:32 AM
I think Elvira should be charged with the crimes she committed. Elvira should be thankful that charges weren’t brought against her. If I did what she did I am sure I would need to retain legal representation about now. I have a good friend who is a Union Official. He is ecstatic that the shamnesty bill got shot down. Now he is rethinking his party affiliations as are the members of the Union Council. There may be a few suprises when it comes to Union endorsement in the primaries. The more the Dems move to the left the more moderates in their party who can see the writting on the wall are getting worried. Don’t forget Ronald Regean was once a Democrat. JFK was a conservative by todays standards. It was inevidible that the illegals would try to ride on the backs of the real civil rights movement. This is an outrage as was the womens movement who coupled with African American men in the workplace leaving many African American women still impoverished and in many cases worse off in the private sector job market. Many African Americans at least in LA County are outraged by this, and rightfully so. Theirs was a nightmarish plight not of their own making. It lasted for two hundred years or longer. Illegals especially Mexicans should endeavour to make their own countries better. Elvira dosen’t even speak english in her interview. Without assimilation the illegal influx of immigrants amounts to an outright invasion of a foreign army. ‘We The People’ need to remain vigilant to the tactics being used by the likes of La Raza and other activist groups. Make no mistake about it they are here with the help of big business and the US government. These are third world thugs and cutthroats who are going to try to impose their will on the people of the US. We cannot allow the MSM and the congress to usurp our sovereignty. If that ever happens we may get a government in the Hugo Chavez mold. The issue is not a hummanitarian one or one of justice. We are at the brink of disaster and it is crunch time. If Elvrira wants to get on her soap box have at it. If Elvira wants to evade immigration officials for all the years she did thats her perogative, but these choices are not without consequence. Now the MSM is making a martyr of her and trying to build icon status. To me Elvira is an illegal alien who broke the law of out country and should be happy she only got deported.
sonnyspats1 on August 22, 2007 at 2:31 AM
This criminal is terrible in leaving her son without a mother. She chose to leave him and now the msm is trying to paint it as the big bad gov’t is separating families. She is a sick woman.
We really need to do something about anchor babies’ and their citizenship. This was an obvious one.
How dare she be compared to someone like Rosa Parks or Harriet Tubman!

I agree entirely.

Elvira Arellano = Nacho Mama!
This most honorable crackhead bedded down with some clown for anchor baby status and now is in bed with a church and the media. This crap about Nacho Mama! being a caring mother is ridiculous. She left her son in the US for a better life? More deceit from someone who defrauded the social security system and spat on this nation’s immigration laws.
When she comes back into the country, let Nacho Mama! run against Palosi and Sheehan. Talk about a horse race…

Arellano is neither Rosa or Harriet. She is a media whore and a criminal.
csdeven on August 22, 2007 at 8:10 AM
Maybe Arellano will have to build an underground railroad from Mehico to Los Estados Unidos, where 100’s of thousands more can cross the borders illegally. Then you could at least place her in the same sentence as Tubman.
If blacks aren’t outraged and awaken by this comparison, what will it take? At the very least, raising the question will get people to think about how this influx of illegals truly undermines the classic American dream that legal Americans fought and died for.
flipflopper on August 22, 2007 at 9:40 AM
Elvira had another chance to keep her son with her yesterday while in Tijuana. She dumped him………………………AGAIN!!
WHAT A MOM!!
DfDeportation on August 22, 2007 at 9:46 AM
Reine…to clarify…the first was specifically aimed at this Arellano criminal - a judgement of her situation and the concept of anchor babies in general.
The second is more of a reflection on the Mexican problem in general. There are plenty (the vast majority?) of Mexicans that are in the situation you & I seem to appreciate - poverty, desire to work, hardship etc - and are swarming in our direction desperate to earn money to feed/house/clothe their families.
I view them as refugees for _precisely_ the reasons you disagreed with me about ;-) They _are_ victims of the sickeningly corrupt government…and this provides all the incentive many need to get the fuck out of dodge. The Mexican economy is dog shit. Perhaps some might call these people ‘economic migrants’, but I think that a more accurate description is ‘economic refugees’.
If opportunities existed in their homeland, why would they bust a gut seeking ‘refuge’ in our country? Hence - refugees.
S’all :-)
Ochlan on August 22, 2007 at 10:42 AM
Looks like she’s doing just fine in Mexico. The ingrates like Elvira, come here and think they have an entitlement to everything, “blaming” their plight an America, attempting to play the guilt trip on us. Well, that ain’t workin’ dude. It’s time for ungrateful bastards like Elvira Arellano to accept their personal responsibility for their criminal activities. Listen closely, not ONE word of gratitude towards America and Americans has come from her ungrateful mouth. Refugee my ass!!!
DfDeportation on August 22, 2007 at 11:15 AM
I didn’t read all two zillion posts ahead of mine so if someone already said this, please forgive me.
The caption under her picture on your main page should say nuisance instead of nuance.
PoliticallyIncorrectSandy on August 22, 2007 at 11:22 AM
How about:
INGRATE NUISANCE?
DfDeportation on August 22, 2007 at 11:33 AM
Quite right…I wouldn’t define her as a refugee either…an “ungrateful freeloading parasitic criminal” - yes.
I can take a walk to some construction sites around me and point out whole hordes of people that I _would_ classify as refugees, however…
Ochlan on August 22, 2007 at 12:32 PM
Let’s see she’s been here 10 years and her son is eight. Yes, I’m cynical enough to believe she had the kid to continue her fight. She proved it to me when she left her son with strangers. She is using the son as a pawn for her illicit actions. The salient point is, if Mexicans don’t like the life in Mexico, then change it!!!!
MNDavenotPC on August 22, 2007 at 1:26 PM
People have a responsibility to uphold and OBEY the laws in the first place in order for a safe and opportunistic country to be available to and enjoyed by all whom live in it.
Elvira had an obligation to any future offspring to NOT come here illegally and THEN have a child.
If the seperation of an innocent child is the only consideration for many, consider that we should also let rapists, murderers, and every other offender out of prison as isolation in prison seperates too many children from their mothers and fathers.
In fact, just make it a policy that if you murder someone, you have 9 months to get pregnant or impregnate a woman and get out of jail free.
Bearhopi on August 22, 2007 at 3:06 PM
Or she could take her son with her. End of story!
If Mexico is so bad that it is not a good country for anything, all tyhe more reasson why we need to enforce our laws that keep us different form being dragged down to that level!
