All the Congress has done in their eight months in charge was pass the minimum wage increase. That’s not going to cut it. You need to give America more than that.

I think you could apply the same logic to the six years of Republican majority and see why 06 went the way it did.

Sometimes people like ignoring things; it makes them feel better. And your explanation (political witch hunts) doesn’t explain the large drop in approval from Democrats.

If you think it’s Iraq, explain why it would drop nine points in a month when everyone knows the moment of truth is still a month away.

Why the drop of nine points? Because some people aren’t willing to give Congress the benefit of the doubt when they say “we’ll bring the troops home.” If I was asked whether or not I approve of the job Congress is doing I’d say no specifically because of Iraq.

In real life politics isn’t a cookie-cutter thing. Not everybody is going to wait and see whether Congress really does anything about the war.

I love hearing the rampant speculation of Republicans as to why the Democrats are showing less approval for Congress.

The last thing the Democrats want is to have to spend money that should be going towards defeating Republicans next year on defeating primary challengers instead.

I wish I could find that news item that showed taxpayer money being used to fund GOP campaigns. I’ll look for it, but in the meanwhile I love hearing the rampant speculation of Republicans as to why the Democrats are showing less approval for Congress.

Creative math, sure, but the libs love that stuff, so why not use it?

Nothing to gloat over, but what the GOP needs to do is start campaigning now and get the young faces out there on an aggressive platform of growth and strong national defense to contrast themselves against the weak, feckless tax-and-spend left.

I agree. NH voters drummed Jeanne Shaheen out of office for suggesting an income tax. People are far more conservitive up here than my co-worker thinks. I agree with you that the real NH will wake up sooner rather than later.

What really gets me is Mass transplants who come up here because they’re sick of Mass politics, but then vote exactly the same way. I know off topic…

Whatever it is, though, it’s bugging the left, not the right

I wonder how much of that’s for Claire McCaskill. Man, has she been a pleasantly moderate surprise.

The right is pissed off because we have liberals in government that have an open border, universal health care, and weak foreign policies. Democrats are for spending our money in earmarks and social programs, and are anti-iraq.

Conservative values work in this world.

Strong military
Strong foreign policy
Anti Abortion
Capitalism/Open Markets
Fair trading
Anti-illegal immigration
Eliminate entitlements

Perhaps the real answer is to get Congress out of this country before April of next year.

I see polls like the last one AP quotes, and the question to me is what’s the depth of the opinion. A lot of people could be saying, “Yeah, I guess April is a good month to pull people out,” but it’s not like the average American has a set date in his or her head based on hard data.

Exactly. I’m sure the poll did not offer the response… “It depends on the circumstances.” And you can bet that response would have received the biggest number if it would have been offered. Polls are biased, they usually mean nothing.
