Kind of dumb, kind of awesome, although not as awesome as this.
It’s the shot from “2001″ that Kubrick forgot to do.

The awsome power of mother nature. Framed and hanging on the living room wall is my satellite image of Hurricane Hugo coming ashore in 89.
Yeah! There’s a preview button! Bonus awsome.

I got to see this “live” sitting @ my work desk on Saturday. It’s freekin’ amazing I can do that! And to hear the Astronauts comments when they saw it was just way cool. I would have loved to have seen it thru their helmet cams.
Jeez, and I remember watching the grainy black and white video from the “old” days and it just blows my mind that now I could watch 2 guys working in space and see what they see.
I what to go!!!!!!!

A plot of the projected path of Hurricane Dean.
Better start screaming.

Congressman Clyburn was heard to say,
“If these hurricanes keep missing the U.S., it’s going to be bad for democrats.”

I live in Oklahoma City, and I’ve lived in Oklahoma for 49 years. On Sunday morning, I saw the eye [it was supposed to be the "remnant"] of tropical storm Erin circulating, counter-clockwise, around Okarche – just NW of Oklahoma City. I have never seen anything like this in Oklahoma – ever. Now, here’s the rub – less than 24 hours prior to the torrential rains and flooding in our area – our weather hacks were calling for 1″ to 1 1/2″ of rain. This, despite the knowledge that the “remnants” of Erin were headed our way. Instead, Oklahoma City got anywhere from 5+” to 10+” of rain. And the flooding in Kingfisher gave evidence to the area-wide torrential rain.
Concerning “global warming,” I’ll trust a climatologist the day after I can trust a weather hack in Oklahoma. And that ain’t gonna be happenin’ anytime, soon.

Images of hurricanes are beautiful. The best I ever saw were of Hurricane Andrew in 1992:

Anyone fascinated by these storms (as I am) should visit the Hurricane Hunters Assn. site.

Thanks.
I’ve been thinking something along those lines since this hurricane was first named. :-D

So, my question is this: Should Dean hit New Orleans, who are the Democrats going to blame? Will Bush be responsible for this only if it hits?
What of Karl Rovem will they now say he’s operating Bush’s black-hating weather machine full time?
Does anyone know?
BKennedy on August 20, 2007 at 5:19 PM
I was hesitant to click the link.
AP just can’t be trusted.
I thought for sure he would have a picture of a different big windbag.
RO came to mind.

These stories always make me angry. We seem to be losing to people that can’t master making roads.
