Audio alert: Ingraham vs. Geraldo on immigration; Update: Audio added; Update: Study concludes that conservative talk radio sunk the shamnesty bill

Can’t. Wait. Will Michelle’s name come up? Probably. Will Geraldo sob uncontrollably at the plight of Elvira Arellano? Possibly. Will Laura goof on him mercilessly for his idiotic “immigrationism” defense? All we can do is hope, my friends. I’ve been waiting for this for a long time. Anything less than a full nuclear exchange will be disappointing.

We’ll have the audio afterwards. Laura’s producer told us yesterday that it was set for 10:30 but a reader who sounds like he’s listening to the show this morning e-mailed a few minutes ago to say it’s 11:30. If you want to listen live, tune in at both times to be safe. WYSL in Rochester broadcasts her show over the web; consider this an open thread for the program.

Update: The reader e-mails again to say he had it wrong. Sounds like it is indeed 10:30.

Update: I’ll have an embedded clip in a bit, but in the meantime here’s the mp3. The bad news: He didn’t give her one straight answer. The good news: She played the “immigrationism” clip!

Update: Here’s the embedded audio. And here’s the perfect news complement.

I think his mustache is an anchor baby.

congsan on August 20, 2007 at 10:01 AM

I think he has three illegal families living under that mustache.

moonsbreath on August 20, 2007 at 10:04 AM

It takes a special kind if idgit to go up against Laura or Michelle .They have facts and precedent, the GR tool only has bluster and ,well, pretty much nothing after that.
Mincemeat he will be.

bbz123 on August 20, 2007 at 10:09 AM

I think he craves and enjoys this attention and I hate to give him any. Fox hired him because he’s an attention-hound and inflames viewers. They could have accomplished the same thing with topless anchors but aren’t allowed.

JiangxiDad on August 20, 2007 at 10:11 AM

It is painfully obvious that Whore-aldo does not cherish America like he should. I am not questioning his patriotism, I am stating categorically that he has none for the U.S. If he has allegiance to a country it is not this one!

What a Wonderful Monday morning treat.

Will Geraldo be on remote live from Tijuana?

JammieWearingFool on August 20, 2007 at 10:16 AM

If he has allegiance to a country it is not this one!

His allegiance is not to any one country but to all latinos. His dream is to turn America into a hispanic majority so he can become the brown version of Al Sharpton.

Paul the American on August 20, 2007 at 10:16 AM

Maybe Geraldo has read something that has educated him over the weekend and he’s ready to take her on? Naaaah. More likely, the only preparation he engages in is waxing his moustache so that the tears flow smoothly.

TheSitRep on August 20, 2007 at 10:12 AM

The wonders of “multi-culturalism.” Geraldo chooses “Hispanic” over “American.” He’s not alone. It’s what he was taught to do, and where he found a home.

In the West, we’re no longer united by nationality or strong religious beliefs. That vacuum gets exploited by just about anybody, from Johnny Cochran to the Ayatollah Khomeini.

JiangxiDad on August 20, 2007 at 10:22 AM

MM’s remarks are inflammatory, Whore-aldo?

Puhleaze.

Taped clip. Geraldo is late according to Laura.

Nineball on August 20, 2007 at 10:38 AM

He’s already full of it. I’ve been complaining about illegal aliens for over 20 years. Even in my most liberal post student days, I say it as a huge problem.

Blake on August 20, 2007 at 10:40 AM

It’s getting good now… He says that he doesn’t want to fight w/ Laura. :-)

Nineball on August 20, 2007 at 10:42 AM

Geraldo wants us to cool our jets and doesn’t like Laura’s tone.

Valiant on August 20, 2007 at 10:42 AM

Illegal aliens commit crimes at a rate lower than the population

/Geraldo

Well, clearly they have a great deal of respect for law.

When it suits them.

trubble on August 20, 2007 at 10:44 AM

Oh, he’s lying about the statistics. Once upon a time, illegal aliens did commit less crime and paid bills in cash, etc., because they were worried about getting deported. But, that was 25 years ago! They don’t worry about it anymore. It has changed.

Lose argument; start crying.

Blake on August 20, 2007 at 10:45 AM

LOL… He says “Laura, why are you insulting me?”

Nineball on August 20, 2007 at 10:45 AM

Which, by the way, she isn’t. She is merely making a point, and he can’t refute her point…

Nineball on August 20, 2007 at 10:45 AM

Geraldo, do you want a crying towel? You’re a big boy.

ROTFL

Valiant on August 20, 2007 at 10:46 AM

Gerry: Why are you attacking me?

Watch this video: Anti-Immigration Homeless Advocate Attacked While Denouncing Violence Against African-Americans

Partial transcript:

ed Hayes joins us now.

Ted, I’ve known you a long time. We haven’t always agreed. But I want to bring specifically into this you’re against illegal immigration and you’ve taken a stand. Somebody just attacked you for your views.

TED HAYES, IMMIGRATION OPPONENT: Actually, yes sir. Actually, the guy just spit in my face. That’s the first time something like that really ever happened.

ANNITY: Is that on tape?

HAYES: No. We did not get a chance to catch that. But we were having a news conference out in front of the L.A. Symphony, Choose Black America, which is the organization that I chair.

We were having a news conference about the murders in Newark, New Jersey, and the failure of the elected officials to obey their oath of office to protect us and that we’re having the same kinds of problems here in Los Angeles.

And we’re calling on Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and particularly L.A. City Council Bernard Parks to help us dispel this rumor so that we can end the violence, but they refuse to do so.

HANNITY: Let’s go to the heart of the message that you’re bringing here. And that is that illegal immigrants are damaging the country and specifically attacking African-Americans. Do you see this as a growing phenomenon and danger?

HAYES: Yes, sir. It’s getting out of hand, and it’s getting to the point where they’re callous about doing it, to the point where they don’t mind threatening us. They threatened my life, you know, and said, “We’re going to cut your throat.” And so forth and so on.

HANNITY: Yes.

HAYES: They don’t care. And that’s a lie, Sean, in America. That because the black leadership, Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, these folks are telling them that their illegal immigration movement is an extension of the civil rights movement. There is no comparison between the two whatsoever.

HANNITY: I agree

Go watch it. You won’t be disappointed…

People here know what it’s like to be a party of one- a real minority in a F***in sea of LIBS. Whorealdo as you call him took the easy way out. It was hard to be just Gerry, without a posse. What I heard:
Q. “What do you mean by ‘immigrationism’?”
A. “Why are you attacking me, you mean, rightwing nut? I invented ms-13 coverage! I went to Iraq, for heaven’s sake!”
followed by a very interesting story about a guy who came to this country with a deer on his shoulder. Or something like that.

redzap on August 20, 2007 at 11:23 AM

I wonder what would happen if an interviewer actually told geraldo( small first letter intentional) to shut up and answer the damn question or say to him, you’re a stinking liar and then prove why he is the same. I mean, isn’t that how the left handles interviews with conservatives? Except, of course, that liberals wouldn’t support their statements with facts like we would.

MNDavenotPC on August 20, 2007 at 11:24 AM

Geraldo refuses to acknowledge that these types of crimes are 100% preventable if we did not allow illegals into our country.
Why he, and many like him, refuse to acknowledge this and continue to debate our legal system set up for American citizens or, our culture, their living conditions, how hard they work, etc. escapes me.
If his kid were made to kneel and shot in the brains I think he would feel differently. It is too bad he isn’t able to transfer his empathy to American citizens in general. I think it takes a higher level of reasoning…

oldernslower on August 20, 2007 at 12:21 PM

The reason Geraldo Rivera will not answer the questions is painfully obvious, the facts dispute all of his racist accusation sound bytes. He thinks he can get away with the one liners;”hard working people” and “they just want to feed their families” myths. The one about lower crime rates in NYC because it is a sanctuary city is the biggest whopper of them all. It is just plain false.

Geraldo is a reconquista and a Hispanic racist. His ethnocentrism blinds him to the crimes that are being committed by Illegal Alien Criminals that should not be here in the first place. He believes that the United States stole Texas and the other southwest states from Mexico. He supports MALDEF and La Raza which are both racist groups just like the KKK.

What is sad, is that FoxNews allows him to make false racist accusations without backing it up with any facts.

Except for Michelle, FoxNews has been a big supporter of open borders and globalism just like the WSJ. Just listen to Fred Barnes or Mort Kondracke some time on Brit Hume or the Beltway Boys.

They refuse to list Tom Tancredo or Duncan Hunter in their polling lineups even though both of them have polled better than John McCain.

Sean Hannity who was once a big supporter of deportation has been drinking the GWB Kool-Aid and supports his Guest worker plan instead of prosecuting the 20-40 million illegals already here.

I have yet to see one segment on his program covering Illegal Immigration unless it is to invoke sympathy for the criminals that are violating our laws.

ScottyDog on August 20, 2007 at 12:21 PM

So when they leave their family in Mexico to come here, that is NOT breaking up families but, when we send them home to Mexico where their families live…THAT’S BREAKING UP FAMILIES!

As I posted under gerry’s other thread…
Perspective…

Rivera was born in New York City, New York to Cruz Rivera (later “Allen Cruz Rivera”), a Puerto Rican, and Lillian Friedman Rivera, a Jewish American.[1] He grew up in Brooklyn and West Babylon, New York.
So, he’s “Juan Epstein, a Puerto Rican-Jew?? And just as goofy?

So, he’s not fully spanish, Was Born here in America, and has American parents. (P.R. is still a commonwealth of the USA) I knwo some other immigrants who legally came here and became naturalized citizens. Knowing “where they came from,” they’re slot almost 50-50 on illegal immigration. Geraldo has never been an immigrant, nor had immigrant parents.

What is his “connection” and where does his outrage come from?

If you read his Wikipedia page I’m CONVINCED that Fox should not only distance themseves from him, but no longer employ him as a reporter.

Mazztek on August 20, 2007 at 1:12 PM

This guy is a jerk.

Geraldo whine: “Why are you insulting me?”

“America is a sanctuary city.” – Geraldo

Unfortunately, he’s correct. The recent “crackdown” will only last as long as it takes the media to convince people how “unjust” it is. And it’s a waste of time anyway – if Chertoff/Bush were serious, they’d build the 700+ miles of wall that was authorized way back when, fully fund (and stop prosecuting) the border patrol, and focus on employers of illegals, not “show” arrests like Arellano.

Keith_Z on August 20, 2007 at 1:29 PM

Cobb County, GA which recently has been getting tough on the illegals recently took a step back because of the federal judges ruling in the Hazelton, PA case. All it takes is one judge to tie up local communities and prevent them from pursuing the illegals with or without federal support.
The recent retreat in Cobb County was a proposed ordance to restrict the picking up of day laborers but somebody played the race card and invoked Hazelton so the county commission tabled the proposed law for the time being.

Actually according to the government hispanics are overwhelmingly the most law abiding group in the US among males

http://www.ojp.usdoj.gov/bjs/crimoff.htm

Prevalence of imprisonment in the United States

As of December 31, 2001, there were an estimated 5.6 million adults who had ever served time in State or Federal prison, including 4.3 million former prisoners and 1.3 million adults in prison.

Nearly a third of former prisoners were still under correctional supervision, including 731,000 on parole, 437,000 on probation, and 166,000 in local jails.

In 2001, an estimated 2.7% of adults in the U.S. had served time in prison, up from 1.8% in 1991 and 1.3% in 1974.

The prevalence of imprisonment in 2001 was higher for
– black males (16.6%) and Hispanic males (7.7%) than for white males (2.6%) (White males corrected for hispanic demographics such as income and education – 11.1%)
