In Waltham, MA the judges just dismiss the crim-aliens who are brought before them for driving without a license because there are too many of them and they clog up the judicial system.

The police no longer cite or arrest them because they understand that their efforts are a waste, and it also takes 2-4 man-hours to process each one and then appear before a judge who dismisses it while glaring impatiently at the offending officer.

Pavlovian surrender.

Collier County, Florida can’t afford illegals anymore. It costs the county taxpayers $9 million/yr just to jail them!

I don’t believe a word of this crap. These butt-heads know that the cops are not going to do a thing to them. Hell, the DPS here in Texas told them the other day that they will no longer be checking or asking about immigration status. And the relase went out in SPANISH no less.

I have to agree here.

This is a perfect example of media bias. I actually pitched a story that would have investigated how illegals aliens live their lives – register a car, buy a home, rent movies, pay taxes, etc. My preliminary research suggested a broad range of document fraud, but also commercial, municipal and federal complicity. The story was approved but never got out of the background reporting stage.

But if I tried to present a day in the life of a legal citizen suffering the effects of illegal immigration, I could just hear the refrain, “So what? Where’s the news?”

A simple technique used by editors and journalists alike is to ask “So what?” Hard news stories that don’t answer this question are often no more than advocacy, advirtisements or profiles…not news.

Side Rant:
Whenever an anti-illegal perspective is introduced, you can be sure that the main subjects of the article will either have teeth missing or some other tip off that we should take them less seriously. (Like the ranchers on the border who must carry firearms on their own property because of drug and human smugglers. They wear cowboy hats and carry guns, so they’re easy to marginalize.)

When I heard something like this years ago, I had trouble really believing it. I was new to the area, and I was very unfamiliar with this very subject.

Recently I had a Mexican friend trying very hard to convince me that USA stole lands from his country. He told me, “American Southwest is not really American, but Mexican.” He then told me, “I can show you textbooks in my country that prove this!!”

Thanks for the info. When I had my own garage, we would often buy cars from various impound auctions. More than once, I outbid someone who was there bidding on their own car. Usually they were driving to and from work with a suspended license. But one guy told me in tears about how he was actually driving to the DMV, with a suspended license to pay his fines. Needless to say I heard a lot of sob stories.

I agree that the cops discretion will often determine how things play out. And I also agree that some tow yards will charge a few hundred bucks for your initial fees. But outside of the cost of hooking up your car for the initial tow, and higher rates on weekends, the rates are regulated by the state. Even though $750 is not that much to retrieve a car, many people can’t come up with that let alone $1500 for the 30 day hold.

Doesn’t matter who’s right or wrong here, because this whole situation just pisses me off. Driving is a privilege that should be prosecuted criminally for those who have broken into our country.

If you caught with an unlicensed firearm or conceal a weapon illegally you are going to jail, if not prison. And that applies to citizens whom are covered by our oft-ignored second amendment.

Would any of us dare to drive illegally in some other country? HELL NO, because we know that as an American we would get reamed for doing so.

How about reporting the fact that it NEVER happens, even when the motherf**kers are repeated criminals!!! No, pull the hearstrings over some guy who is scared on his way to work, of an imaginary boogie man.
