Morons strip, freeze to make some sort of point about global warming

Good stuff. Exactly the type of smart, serious, thoughtful image makeover they need to cross the partisan divide and win over skeptics. Newt himself couldn’t have done it any better.
Reminds me of an album cover, albeit one I can’t quite place. Something prog-rock, maybe? It’s “Houses of the Holy”-ish but that’s not the one I’m thinking of. I think.

For some reason I keep seeing that Coca-Cola commerical in my head…”I’d like to buy the world a coke, and…something something…harmony”.
This is the same stupid stuff PETA does (probably the same folks)…stripping nude to protest fur.

Are they trying to make the point that global warming causes hippies to not bathe and do stupid crap?
Ah. Point well made.

Great, leave all those shadowed footprints and body grease on the glacier surface to enhance the heat absorption and accelerate the melting.

One is a tragedy; 1000 is a statistic, or however it goes. That picture doesn’t evoke sympathy for human beings; it just suggests a lot of animals out sunning themselves.

Eh, Allahpundit, shouldn’t Global Warming be capitalized? As in Catholic, Buddhism, or Muslim.
Or did you intend to insult the followers of the Great Algore everywhere?
TunaTalon on August 18, 2007 at 4:37 PM
Tunick’s last(?) mass nude shoot was in Mexico City (Subjects were doing the jobs that no good Catholic “peasant” Mexican would do.)
One has to have a bit of grudging admiration for how this two-bit pervert (peeping tom) has conned so many other perverts (exhibitionists) into helping him line his pockets.
baldilocks on August 18, 2007 at 4:38 PM
Oooh…so edgy. They’ll have something to congratulate themselves on years from now. They made a difference.
I couldn’t imagine a more stark contrast between these immature narcissists and our troops, who are self-sacrificing adults who have taken on real responsibilities in a climate that is currently 115 degrees farenheit.
These people disgust me.

They shouldn’t lie there next to the glacier too long or they’ll run the risk of developing polaroids.

Real hippies would be having sex out there.
Losers.
Dork B. on August 18, 2007 at 4:48 PM
Don’t ever mention Newt in a post about nudity. Not for any reason.
JackStraw on August 18, 2007 at 4:49 PM
Now I live near Buffalo and I know a thing or two about naked snow angels. You’re supposed to do a shot, then run outside and make the angel, then return to the bar for another shot. It looks like they all just passed out. Pansies.
trubble on August 18, 2007 at 4:52 PM
Allah,
This picture doesn’t remind me of an album cover, but it does remind me of pictures of the Holocaust. As do the artiste’s other photos, particularly this one and this one.
Maybe that was his point: The coming Apocalypse of Global Warming is like the Holocaust!
Buy Danish on August 18, 2007 at 4:54 PM
I guess this is what they mean by “naked science”.
Why is it the eco-nuts (no pun intended) always get naked to prove some point…a la the anti-fur peeps. But then, if they were to get arrested, would there be a need to ask “You have ID on you?”
JetBoy on August 18, 2007 at 4:55 PM
You have to enlarge the picture a bit to see it, but the guy with his head up off the ground right behind the nekked she-hippie in the bottom right corner looks just like Rob “Meathead” Reiner from the All In the Family days.
RW_theoriginal on August 18, 2007 at 4:55 PM
Spencer Tunick must have used Cristo the artist for inspiration. Cristo is the guy who wrapped two or three islands in the Florida Keys in pink material. Well I think this cals for some musical accompaniment. This goes out to Al Gore.
sonnyspats1 on August 18, 2007 at 4:58 PM
One of several good zingers! This one, however, caused me to envision Peter Gabriel and the other “Elders” out there in the buff. Arrgghh!
forest on August 18, 2007 at 5:01 PM
I’d say the album would be “Wish You Were Here,” as that is pretty much about someone going crazy.
Or, perhaps the soundtrack to “Better off Dead?” Madness’ “One Step Beyond?” Gretchen Wilson “All Jacked Up?”
As long as they aren’t listening to Clarence Carter :)
William Teach on August 18, 2007 at 5:05 PM
Once Clarence Carter has been cited there not much left to be said.

At least they didn’t make us look. Oh. well. I guess getting naked for your cause might grab a few headlines (and jokes at your expense). Nothing like freezing your buns off to show that Global Warming is just a snow job.

the homeless. But word got out from the homeless because
they had to round them up.And that’s because they complained.

And just how long did they lay there? 5 minutes? Just long enough to snap the publicity photos? Then throw the parkas back on and take the next carbon-guzzling flight back to the nearest Starbucks.
I’m not impressed. Google “40 Martyrs Of Sebaste” (or “Sebasteia”). When the hippies can last 3 days then I’ll be impressed.

Global warming…confusing the minds.
They would make a good argument for that statement.
Here is a poster who has not spent any time in Berkely or Santa Cruz.
right2bright on August 18, 2007 at 7:24 PM
This is so funny.
I will never understand why people get up in arms when a glacier melts. That is what they do, they MELT—at least when they are not advancing to middle Europe or middle America crushing everything in their paths!!
ICE MELTS SO RELAX!!! IT’S OK!!
Ohh no!! The glacier is melting, it must be man-made global warming!!! Err, maybe not people…maybe it’s because the glaciers have been melting ever since the Ice Age was over, derr duhh!
Do these people panic when the ice in their drinks starts to melt? Do they fret about their carbon footprint then? Good Lord Almighty! Do they die of fright every Spring??? Inquiring minds want to know.

WARNING! MORE NUDIST PROTESTERS IN THE LINK BELOW (and nothing you want to see – although you really have to see it.)
After a quick glance at the picture, I can see that scrotum man wasn’t there.
The guy should really try to be at every nude protest. The group pictures could be gathered into a book where you have to find him in every picture.

Wonder who pays their way for times like this, while normal people are working, holding down normal jobs.
Not just morons, but also self-absorbed slugs.
petefrt on August 18, 2007 at 9:34 PM
It does not look like a glacier to me. It looks like a gigantic inflatable mattress with all kinds of nude babes on it. What’s with leftist causes and nudity? More to the point, why is nudity associated with global warming?
At times like this, I realize just how stupid a huge portion of the civilized world is. These idiots are actually laying nude on the snow to protest something that doesn’t even exist outside the political bent of their minds and only because they consumed the propaganda they were provided.
I look at that and I see the premise of a Michael Crichton horror movie.
jihadwatcher on August 18, 2007 at 9:34 PM
Vaguely Pink Floyd-ish. Also looks a little like a group of seals sunning themselves, in an unpleasant sort of way.

jihadwatcher on August 18, 2007 at 10:31 PM
jihadwatcher,
That’s it! And coincidentally Crichton really knows his Global Warming stuff too.
Maybe he could write a new novel combining elements of “Coma” and “State of Fear”. The book cover is already designed for him.

Some snarky conservative should grill whoever did this about the carbon footprint of organizing and pulling off this event. Imagine all the gas used to drive people to the site (if it’s not CGI) and back again. Shameless I say.
