Video: Nagin’s Chocolate Reign hits a snag

posted at 11:10 am on August 17, 2007 by Bryan

The caption on YouTube says it all:

Remember when Dem. New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin said New Orleans should be a Chocolate City? Apparently New Orleans Parish prosecutor Eddie Jordan feels the same way. Today his case failed on appeal as the civil rights violation verdict stands. Jordan fired 53 of 77 employees. Of the fired, 42 were white, 1 was Hispanic. They were all replaced by blacks.

Nagin’s New Orleans: bus-ted once again.

Racism – I know it when I see it – where ever I see it.

jake-the-goose on August 17, 2007 at 11:15 AM

Wait…they were black! That’s not racist, that’s progressive!

Hard to express what I feel for this chump without using offensive language, but I hope he one day runs afoul of the people whose rights he demolished. Funny but I can easily explain how Nagin violated people’s second, fourth, and fourteenth rights, yet I still can’t get a single moonbat to explain what civil rights of theirs Bush “shredded”.

JetBoy on August 17, 2007 at 11:18 AM

Remember how Nagin tried to backpedal outta that one?:

“Uh, what I meant was MILK chocolate! Yeah that’s it, you mix the milk and … and the chocolate and um, you get uh … *milk* chocolate … that, that’s what I meant.”

Studder much?

Living here in Houston, we hear all of the complaining from ACORN, black community “leaders”, refugees from N.O. – it never stops.

I still tell people that Katrina is the only storm in history to hit one city. And thanks to America’s lamestream media, one race of people.

We’ll never go to N.O.

Yep……last trip, instead of the usual thru NO side trip it was on to Mobile. Great place Mobile. Like SF, NO is on my ‘not-to-do’ list.

Limerick on August 17, 2007 at 11:36 AM

I decided that I’m never going to visit NO after they RE-elected that racist Nagin. They’ll never get a penny from me as a tourist. Eddie Jordan is merely a reflection of his boss, Ray(cist) Nagin.

Mojave Mark on August 17, 2007 at 11:39 AM

Hey, if you want to be a racist, that is your prerogative. If you are Chinese and want to have and all Chinese staff in your restaurant, or if you have a Jewish deli and want it to be staffed with all Jewish folk, it is your right. Those are private businesses and the freakin’ government has no and I mean absolutely NO! business telling you whom to hire.

But when we are talking about government hiring, it should be absolutely blind to race, creed, religion, sex*or sexual orientation* ( *except in the military).
Potential government employees should be subjected to testing and may the better person win the job. No quotas and No exceptions.

There should never be a place on a government form for race, for that is racism in it’s purest form!!!!!

TheSitRep on August 17, 2007 at 11:39 AM

I’m sorry but Dr. Martin Luther King Jr never envisioned a country where any one race, black, white, hispanic, or asian would proclaim to be better than any other group. We have progressed so far from the civil rights marches of the 1960’s and yet some people want to take this country back to a place where someone else is segregated and discriminated against.

It makes me sad too that more people don’t stand up and say we are losing and even damaging the dream Dr. King had for this great country.

How declared bigot Nagin was not booted out of the arena permanently for his racist “chocolate city” insult shows that he knows to whom he panders.

Bitter chocolate is his brand.

With lots of nuts.

We were in Dallas when Katrina hit, and watched the outpour in millions $$ to make the evacuees welcome and comfortable. Some I talked to were young people right out of school. They were taken to Dallas and surrounding areas, and many of their parents ended up in Houston. One of the big rumors was that Nagin’s wife/children were evacuated before it made landfall. I know they were there and he eventually went back to NO, but was never able to substantiate if he got his family out but left thousands trapped in a football stadium?

Is that still open? coulda sworn it closed down. Or was that Newark, or Camden, or Philadelphia, Oakland, New Haven, Cleveland,Baltimore, St.Louis, New Orleans….

JiangxiDad on August 17, 2007 at 12:03 PM

New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin has sought to clarify comments he made on Martin Luther King Day to the effect that New Orleans should be a “chocolate” city.

He said he had not meant that it should be an all-black metropolis, asking: “How do you make chocolate?

“You take dark chocolate, you mix it with white milk, and it becomes a delicious drink. That is the chocolate I am talking about,” he told CNN.

Moral of the story…….when you take vanilla out of the chocolate, you pay!

New Orleans tourism is finally up, with airlines/hotels offering great weekend deals. Those I’ve talked to that have gone have all said every hotel and most restaurants had added security. nola.com had a recent article done by Tulane Univ. that destroyed any wish I had to go.

The song here remains the same, too. Leave people in poverty:cash cow, money is tossed at you to “help” the unfortunate. This works in the “Palestinian” refugee camps which made Arafat rich,African countries held by “warlords” or N.O. kept in victimhood by the Democratic Party of Louisiana.
I tell you what, if the people of N.O. want to see Prosperity visit them, toss out the Dems and let conservative Republicans show them how to run a city. New Orleans has so many valuable assets that, if they weren’t being eaten up by the corruption of the Democrats, could have made N.O. a shining example of Success, not Excess, for decades.

You’ve touched on another important issue: when you give money and food out for free, it only ends up in the hands of the armed thugs. The people that need it still starve. The solution: stop giving it out. Then the thugs starve as well and don’t fight one another, they just suffer. If the ‘Palestinians’ weren’t so well fed, they’d have a lot less energy to harass the Jews.

PRCalDude on August 17, 2007 at 2:23 PM

Thanks, everyone, for the kind comments on my hometown. I do hope you come for a visit.

As an aside, the corruption here plays out like a greek tradgedy, especially since it is going to cost my beloved city so much in the long run. I can assure you I did not vote for Nagin. Perhaps I’ll get cast off this site for this next comment, but for what it’s worth, the black folk, politicians and citizens, have destroyed this city. Yes, the crime here has climbed, but it is blacks on blacks every single time. Although I’m no fan of Nagin, ultimately it was not his fault for what happened here to many people. If they had gotten off their lazy a$$es and gotten out of the city, then they wouldn’t be in the situation they are now or dead. It’s disheartening to see the ignorance that is displayed here by many of them. And then when you look at the public school system and the Orleans parish school board then you can sort of understand. By the way, google Oliver Thomas. He was the great black hope for the city after Katrina. He was very well liked by many people here, white and black alike. A much beloved councilman who was just indicted last week in a federal probe for demanding illegal payments from City Hall vendor. Good grief!

*sigh* I can’t blame the rest of you for your sentiments. Just remember, there are many good people who still live here and call this place home.

P.S. Sorry Houston! After you were so welcoming and good to us, we dumped much of our “trash” your way. Tragic, indeed.

4. Identity Politics
5. Encouraged Incompetenace

Total aid to NO is over 2 BILLION dollars so far, and the local gov’t. has YET to sort out the problems of getting INDIVIDUAL permits for leveling the detroyed homes on private property. (iow, they’re still not finished with initial clean up!)

Ray Niggin, the same guy who couldn’t figure out how to mobilize a fleet of schoolbuses, has similarly FAILED to figure out how to use FREE housing (300 million dollars in brand new trailers) because of local restrictions on trailer use. Some of the ungrateful “chocolate” residents have even tried to sue the state and trailer manufacturers because the trailer’s “new smell” made them sick.

I’ll tell you what makes me sick….that this bunch of party monkeys got ONE DIME from US taxpayers.

And yes, I’ve made a similar “mental note”. :^)

Gov. Perry of Texas just issued the warning for the Houston area residents to begin filling their autos with fuel, just in case Dean decides to make an ugly appearance with the need to evacuate. Mayor Nagin, counting…1…2…3..? Not a bookie in Vegas would cover the bet Nagin’ll hold off then expect FEMA to come roaring in to save his bacon again.

Nolamom67 – there has been talk that with the influx of liberals after Katrina and Rita it will change the face of voting in Texas forever. Many professionals decided to stay in both Houston and Dallas so I think it’ll equal out. We saw a number of suicides in the Dallas area several months after the relocations. Sad. It seemed it took that long for many to come to grips that their lives were changed forever. Y’all hunker down and be safe. We’ll just pray that Dean breaks down to a T.S..

I push the Word like weight, cuttin demons like cake.
From steak to steak, my dogs hungry for a plate.
Im gonna feed a millions thugs with a loaf of bread and my faith.
Say the LORD is great, dont play no games stay in line.
You goning to get your time to shine lil daddy, respect my mind.
You rappin that death, like I ain’t never been through crime.
Beefing in New Orleans I had to isolate my momma.
Praise the Lord I made it out that ninth ward.
My homies in graveyards, down town they press pause.
Times was hard, we stand in line for the dead.
Like killas become famous in hoods from busting heads.
Live by, Die by thats the code of a souljah.
Either you rollin with Jahovah Or get your head burnt off your shoulder.
In that wild Magnolia, Satan is playing for keeps.
Every week a dead body rapped up in bloody sheets.
I done been through the fire and the bottom of the sea.
Leading souljahs to Christ and tossing the empire see.
You better pay attention, these words be real comin out my mouth.
Heaven be up North, and hell be down south.
What you talkin about, that place be hotter then a stove.
Worst then old parents, prision on top in the droves.
Life with out parole, that revalation unfolds.
Wody they really got a place, grab the toe of your soul
Like whoa.

Whites didn’t distribute the IQ scores. God did. He gave more to certain people and less to others. Now everybody can grow up.

Until the 2010 census is complete, NO will not change much. Once the fallout from the loss of a couple of congressional reps sinks in some honest discussions of what to do will occur. It makes a great campaign sound bite and is convenient for the Dems in 08. Everyone should realize that Joe and Jane taxpayer aren’t going to pony up a half trillion to restore it to pre-Katrina state.

Good that the civil rights suit went the way it did.

Nagin is not a good communicator for sure. He cannot seek re-election as there is a limit of two terms. What the rest of the country did not realize is that he was re-elected due so many conservatives would not vote for Mitch Landrieu. Mitch is Mary’s (Dem Sen. LA) and Moon Landrieu’s son. You must remember that Moon was a cabinet member under Jimmy the Peanut Farmer. That family had a firm hand in controlling elections in New Orleans pre-Nagin. Katrina destroyed the Landrieu political machine. I am very surprised that one of the Landrieus or Morials has not been indicted yet. You must understand that the “poor” refugees will have to learn a new way to the polls since they got free rides, $20 (check), and a free meal to go vote along with the list of who to vote for for many years in that city.

Nagin did clean up some of the corruption during his first term as mayor, including one of his relatives.

Nagin was hung out to dry by Blank Zero (Blanco) the governor because he supported her opponent Jindal a conservative Republican) in the last governor’s race. And this was not the first time due she would not support early evacuation pre-Ivan or pre-Katrina, which he needed inorder to declare one.

Jim Bernzzani, FBI Special Agent in Charge New Orleans said the following on the local airwaves TWICE, “I am no stranger to corruption. I’m from Boston. We elected a mayor from prison there. In Boston machine politics they take some cream off of the top. In New Orleans, they take the cream, the milk, hijack the bottle and go looking for the cow.”

Katrina only exposed how bad things have gotten in New Orleans since Landrieu originally got into power. Should New Orleans become more conservative, the Democrat Party will lose its laboratory of how to screw up a society and will have to move this to some other place. 30 plus years ago New Orleans was one of the prime centers of commerce in the U.S. and the world. It was the largest city south of the Mason/Dixon Line. It was ruined by “The Great Society”

BTW had to go down to City Hall twice this week to get property re-valuation changed. The assessor had just changed it to double market value. Oh, the assessor, is Democrat, and the lines were long with since by state law can only be disputed during 15 day period. So the second time I went was at 5:15AM to get there early enough to see assessor that day. Office opened at 9:00

At 8 a.m. EDT, Dean was centered about 615 miles east-southeast of Kingston, Jamaica, and about 260 miles south of San Juan, Puerto Rico. It was moving west at 17 mph. A tropical storm was issued for Cuba.

Although forecasters said it was too early to tell whether the storm would eventually strike the U.S. coast somewhere, state officials were preparing for the worst.

Gov. Rick Perry declared the storm an “imminent threat” and initiated full-scale preparations. Fuel trucks were dispatched to coastal communities, storm-response task forces were put on alert and supply trucks and other resources were pre-positioned along evacuation routes.

“It’s so far out, but it’s not too early to start preparing,” said Perry spokeswoman Katherine Cesinger. “We have more notice than with Erin. We’re glad for that especially since (Dean) is projected to bring some strength.”

Harris County Judge Ed Emmett, the executive of the county that includes Houston, called Erin’s rain and flooding “a wet run” for the impending Dean.

Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco declared a state of emergency Friday and requested a federal declaration that would allow federal resources to flow to the state should Dean strike any part of the Louisiana coast.……………………………………….Here is a classic text book example of the comparison between Republican governance and Democrat dependency. This is playing out in living color as a testimony of a peoples ability to deal with reality. I hope to God neither State takes a hit from Dean.

There was a time when blacks couldn’t walk down the streets at night without risking a beating or death.
Now whites can’t walk down the street at night without risking a beating or death.

There was a time when blacks couldn’t backtalk whites in public without serious reprussions.
Now whites can’t backtalk blacks without fear of beatings or lawsuits.

There was a time when blacks couldn’t look whites in the eyes without being harrased.
Now whites can’t look blacks in the eyes without hearing “What choo lookin at bitch!”

There was a time when blacks couldn’t eat at restaurants without being treated unfairly.
Now whites have problems getting any kind of decent service at any fast food restaurant.

There was a time when blacks had to watch what they said in the presence of whites
Now whites must watch what they say in the presence of blacks as not to say certain words that may offend blacks which could result in unemployment/lawsuits.

There was a time when blacks couldn’t get jobs that were reserved strictly for whites and their friends
Now try and get a government job or a promotion at any major corporation if you’re white and see how difficult it is.

There was a time when all positions of authority ( chief of police, mayor, supervisor at work, etc.) in any major city were white.
Now almost all are held by blacks.

There was a time when you’would watch T.V. and whites were always good, the boss, caring, and in control and the blacks were bad, stealing, hurting people, etc.
Now watch T.V. and it the exact opposite. Whites are bad and greedy while blacks are in charge and morally grounded while the white characters are the bad guys.

There was a time when a black suspect of a crime was identified as black on news and radio broadcasts when reporting on the crime.
Now you only hear that the suspect was 6 feet tall and wearing a green shirt with a beard and shaved head and one club foot with a severe limp and a pair of black nike baskeball shoes, brown eyes, brown hair, one eye missing, etc but never a mention of the race of the suspect….DUH!

There was a time when whites could say anything they wanted in public or at work it was called an opinion.
Now whites can’t say a few certain words or have the wrong opinion or you will be fired from your job and lose your retirement and possibly be sued and lose your life savings all the while hearing your black co-workers slapping each other on the back yelling “What’s up my Ni@#$%! in the hallways of your building etc. and boom boxes blaring black hip-hop music in the parking lots at work screaming the N word at ear breaking decibels with lyrics desribing killing police and raping white bitches.

There was a time when all races had a certain level of common sense.
Now ignorance and hypocricy rule the day.

Racism in America it was a terrible thing then and it’s even more terrible now.

There was a time when blacks couldn’t walk down the streets at night without risking a beating or death.
Now whites can’t walk down the street at night without risking a beating or death.

Bad neighborhoods and common sense are the same now as then. Blacks still have a much better chance of going into a predominantly white neighborhood and being stopped by police for no reason at all.

There was a time when blacks couldn’t backtalk whites in public without serious reprussions.
Now whites can’t backtalk blacks without fear of beatings or lawsuits.

If a person can’t speak articulately without “back talking” they don’t have a whole lot of smarts anyway. Cite your statistics about the lawsuits, I don’t believe it is an epidemic as you imply.

There was a time when blacks couldn’t look whites in the eyes without being harrased.
Now whites can’t look blacks in the eyes without hearing “What choo lookin at bitch!”

(Again cite some facts, not rhetoric)

There was a time when blacks couldn’t eat at restaurants without being treated unfairly.
Now whites have problems getting any kind of decent service at any fast food restaurant.

The truth was that blacks weren’t allowed in the restaurants in the first place. The lousy service we run into is just a reflection of the bad manners society and parents allow. Race rarely is the reason.

There was a time when blacks had to watch what they said in the presence of whites
Now whites must watch what they say in the presence of blacks as not to say certain words that may offend blacks which could result in unemployment/lawsuits.

Ah yes the good ol days when death and beatings were administered with the approval of the local authorities. And you cry because you get slapped around if you are ignorant enough to use an offensive slur. Cite your statistics about lawsuits.

There was a time when blacks couldn’t get jobs that were reserved strictly for whites and their friends
Now try and get a government job or a promotion at any major corporation if you’re white and see how difficult it is.

Empty bitter rhetoric. Back it up with facts

There was a time when all positions of authority ( chief of police, mayor, supervisor at work, etc.) in any major city were white.
Now almost all are held by blacks.

Duh! Most major metro areas have a significantly large number of blacks out of the total population. What is wrong with electing representation from within their community?)

Don’t watch television. See that is easy.

Statistics and proof??

There was a time when whites could say anything they wanted in public or at work it was called an opinion.
Now whites can’t say a few certain words or have the wrong opinion or you will be fired from your job and lose your retirement and possibly be sued and lose your life savings all the while hearing your black co-workers slapping each other on the back yelling “What’s up my Ni@#$%! in the hallways of your building etc. and boom boxes blaring black hip-hop music in the parking lots at work screaming the N word at ear breaking decibels with lyrics desribing killing police and raping white bitches.

Wrong opinion at work. Hmm thought we were supposed to work, not preach or politicize. Dumb on your part if you don’t see the difference. As for the music, how about the “adorable” Aryan twins who sing some heart-warming songs about the evil blacks – aren’t you going to mention them?

There was a time when all races had a certain level of common sense.
Now ignorance and hypocricy rule the day.

Spellcheck helps avoid that appearance you know

Racism in America it was a terrible thing then and it’s even more terrible now.

What’s terrible is that half truths and outright fibs are used to perpetuate an idea that somehow whites are being held down in ways that blacks used to be (and arguably still are). Your type of rant is what you find in literature of hate groups who want to recruit more haters to their twisted cause. Completely void of statistics and proof, it is nothing more than innuendo and anger used to justify one’s hatred of another race.
