That is stupider than me after a case of New Glarus Stout. However, a true historian may well perceive it as related to the crusades. I am not a true historian, but I have read related historical data that would imply that the Crusades were more of a defense against Islamic domination in the time frame it happened, than an actual assault on it. The rest of the whole interview is all BDS. Nothing more, nothing less.

I’d like a time machine, so I could go back in time, stand next to someone like Matthews, wait ’til he says something like the remark about the crusades being about spreading freedom, then smack him really hard across the face, just to get his undivided attention, then ask him if he has the slightest clue as to what he’s talking about. Such a time machine could be useful for lots of leftist tools flapping their lips about subjects which they know nothing about.

More limited than dumb. The limited vision of someone who cannot conceive that some men believe in God as more than a good idea, and cannot comprehend that a religion is more than a political choice. When he speaks of religion driving Bush, Matthews is in above his head.

Politics drive the political man. But it is not religion that drives the believer, it is belief in God. Secularists have religion too but they do not expect a God to call them to judgement one day for eating out of styrofoam cups instead of renewables.

Where Bush really is on this I cannot guess; his behaviour on letting the illegals take America shows a disdain for the citizens and the law, not very Evangelical at all but right in line with the secular religionists, and the aging denominations that have decided to swap a virgin birth for a man who judges no one, and Biblical miracles for metaphors

Matthews certainly has a strange understanding of the Crusades. The Crusades are a medieval reaction kicking back at the group that took over the Holy Land and tried to take all of Europe too. The Crusaders and most of the West knew that the islamic armies had a goal of world conquest. Catapults, crossbows and boiling oil were the way of life for both sides then. Given (A) the intentions of the Mohammedans, and (B) the medieval problem solving tools we get (c) Crusades. Makes for great movies too.

Matthews acts like ‘religion’ is a bad third party in a two party system. His distaste for Zionism shows. He seems to have no equal distaste for the unnamed equivalent of the jihadi who do not seek the just land mass around Jerusalem, but the entire world.

Evangelism he cannot compute at all. You can see almost see the brain fissures forming any time he goes near that nasty subject

Wow! This is a real scandal! An American President’s decisions might actually be influenced by their Christian faith! In fact,, their whole world view could actually be affected by the Bible and Jesus Christ! If it wasn’t on the news and if I hadn’t seen it for myself,, I just never would’ve believed it!
