Video: Republican tells La Raza, “It is important that we emphasize the Spanish language”

It’s Lincoln Diaz-Balart addressing La Raza’s annual conference last month. Skip ahead to 5:00. I mentioned it at the time but it’s always worth flagging panders to the NCLR. You never know when they might prove useful later.
Meanwhile, Kaus is back on the immigration beat and speculating that Bush’s new border crackdown is actually a nefarious plot to prove how cruel and intolerable crackdowns are, thereby increasing support for open borders. The large flaw in that theory: It presumes Bush and Chertoff are competent enough to manage iron-fist border enforcement in the first place. Are they? Nope.

Legal Hispanics – Yes
Spanish Language – No
I had to suffer Walmart yesterday, and they have all their new signs in both languages. Meanwhile, a woman is telling me something in Spanish as she tries to force her cart by me.
The Third World remake of the USA. Walmart and Spanish.

Do you remember in Alien Resurrection how the andriod (Winona Ryder) said all of the andriods burned their modems? I feel the same way about speaking Spanish here in America. My wife, who is from Mexico, doesn’t like that I feel this way, but I’m an AMERICAN, born and bred here.
I’ve never heard of a candidate pushing Chinese, Vietnamese, or the other countless languages spoken in this country. I’ve known Mexicans who’ve come to the States for vacation who get offended if someone speaks to them in Spanish? Why? Because they feel it’s not appropriate to speak another language in this great nation.
Enough with the pandering. Enough with the “comprehensive” garbage. Enough with politicians who are looking out for people for people who aren’t even citizens.
Enough!

Why are Hispanics so xenophobic?
Typically, one of the first accusations made by Hispanic rights advocates is that Americans are xenophobic.
Obviously a nationwide reaction strong enough to stop a stubborn Congress cold doesn’t speak to fear among the citizenry much. Outrage or righteous indignation maybe, fear? No.
Rights groups have tried to make assimilation into a dirty word and we have lobbying and massive amounts of video to prove of how much Hispanics feel threatened by any effort to encourage the least bit of adjusting to life here. Our national anthem was morphed into a stylized Spanish version, talk about being afraid of anything new.
When in Rome do as the Romans do and when in the USA do as we do, only sensible really since we are the greatest Nation in history and who in their right mind would want to change that?
So what’s to be afraid of anyway? Our American culture? Traditions? Opportunities? Freedoms? How much does it really take to fit in?
Some desire maybe?
For two hundred and thirty one years, virtually every nationality has accepted the USA as a wonderful opportunity to join us and succeed; Modern day Hispanics can also, no differently than all the rest. Bring your love and pride for the US with you, it’s a requirement.
Come on, don’t be so…xenophobic.

Brush up on your Spanish, boys & girls. Be ready for the one line at banks & DMVs that says ‘This Line – English Only.’ Also, get ready for higher property & sales taxes to pay for the education & medical for the ‘undocumented Americans’, as goof ball Reid calls them. By next generation our wonderful, beautiful nation will be just another third world country under sharia law run by mexicans. Look at Mexico is like, that’s what’s ahead for the U.S. We’ll have our ‘representative’ government to thank for the transformation.

La Raza doesn’t represent all or most Hispanics any more than any gathering of moonbats represents all Americans.
I’m not sure this was such a bad thing to say. He wasn’t–at least here–calling for goverment workers to be required to speak Spanish or anything. Personally, I wish my family had spoken a little Spanish to me instead of acting like typical immigrants and only speaking English.
It could be interpreted in different ways. The fact that he was cozying up to La Raza doesn’t sit well with me, though.
MamaAJ on August 14, 2007 at 11:17 AM
I’m fairly convinced they are on this enforcement kick to show how awful it is on the poor illegals. They don’t want to truly be effective just get the media running stories on the new hardships that illegals face.

Rep. Lincoln Diaz-Balart has just been entered into the Guiness Book of World Records as the world’s worst idiot.
My story posted here earlier:
In talking to one of my customers (husband and wife)awhile ago who are legal immigrants from Mexico, I commented on their fluent English.
They then proceeded to inform me that the best education in Mexico is received from private schools where everything is taught in English from kindergarten up.
They continued with (with teary eyes) in describing how proud they were of there son who had received a full college scholarship from the U.S.A. because of his musical skills and top-of-his class merits.
However they still hated Bush….wait,.. wait just a effing minute.. I thought Bush was the Mexicans friend!!!!
So therefore ladies and gentlemen, I am entering the hypocritical (La Rasa type Hispanics) into the Guiness Book of World Records for the worst Hypocrites.
Again, reflecting on my encounter I cannot think of any hypocrisy worse than this bovine scatology that La Rasa peddles.
On a similiar vein…
I would love to see a story on how the Hurricane Katrina victims are now doing the jobs that Hispanics
wouldn’tcouldn’t do because they don’t speak sufficient English.I’ve seen this first hand since when FIMA stopped crediting their dedit cards about a year ago.

The U.S. Border Patrol’s web site reminds us:
“The function of the United States Border Patrol has been an essential element of our country’s security since before our Constitution was even written. On July 4th, 1776 our Founding Fathers declared our country independent from England. It is this act that we celebrate on July 4th of every year. The twentyseventh reason for our separation from England — as listed in our Declaration of Independence — is the King’s refusal to provide the people of America with a secure border.”

I’m not sure if it’s the bigotry of the National Council of the Racists that bugs me more or the complete lack of knowledge of Economics of our officials who pander to them.
A massive increase of low/unskilled puts tremendous downward pressure on the wages of the lower class. Those wages stagnate and the demand for big government social programs goes way up.

“the best education in Mexico is received from private schools where everything is taught in English from kindergarten up”.
Mcguyver on August 14, 2007 at 12:04 PM
Fair enough, but it would have been different had he emphasized learning English while retaining your Spanish.
The way he says it makes it sound more like the Spanish is more important than the English when living in American, and I believe that is completely messed up. Though as long as we keep from saying English is our official language it only makes sense that other languages can be emphasized over English.
Esthier on August 14, 2007 at 12:08 PM
I don’t think it matters what we want anymore. English is probably on its way out in the U.S., unless we partition the country into English and Spanish speakers (which also looks likely).

I dunno. The Mexican government is great at keeping their population in ignorance of their history, except for one fact: the American southwest used to be a part of Mexico. The real question is, will they just take that or the entire country? Whites are already a minority in 1 in 10 major cities in the U.S. I think your father was right.

My sister-in-law in CA never taught her children to speak Spanish. She is so terribly proud to be American. Her heritage is Apache and Spaniard – from Spain. She cannot communicate with most of the Mexicans she comes in contact with as few of them know any Indian dialects of the United States much less Apache, and even less know Castilian Spanish.
IMHO, La Raza is a racist organization. If the Mexicans were smart they would shun it just like others shun the KKK. I fear what lies ahead for this great country and wish we could prosecute those that have turned it into a ghetto from coast to coast. Liberals banty around the term “quagmire” when speaking of Iraq or Afghanistan, yet I see the situation here is the same. Law enforcement officers are targets, gun battles in our cities nightly, diseases that has been unknown for decades, schools with metal detectors, no-go zones in areas that were formally old but safe neightborhoods, rampant drug use, out of contol welfare….that cheap head of lettuce isn’t so cheap is it?

So what of my ‘Eurasian-American’ lobby idea? It’s time has come, hasn’t it? I mean, with my rose colored glasses I imagine an America where all ethnicities blend together and eventually become a race themselves. But only whites and some Asians buy into this idea. And lobbyists are the only thing politicians respond to. I mean, if the National Council of La Raza had veto power on the latest shamnesty bill, shouldn’t people of European and East Asian descent who pay most of the bills have a say also?
I’ve often wondered, “What could possibly be going through our politicians’ heads allowing all these criminals in?” Then it occurred to me, they want the criminal element in here. It keeps the population fractured, terrified and dependent on the government, at least until it collapses. A century ago, even 50 years ago, the population might have risen up and dispensed with these gangsters in short order. But nowadays, we’re simply told that nothing can be done about it and to live with it. This country can’t solve a simple problem like policing its own borders – the country that invented modern aviation, nuclear weapons, space flight, the ICBM, the transistor, the integrated circuit? Seems hard to believe. If money were the only issue motivating this, then why didn’t the business lobby spend half as much time trying to get corporate taxes reduced or worker’s comp reformed? No. I think control is the underlying motive here.
PRCalDude on August 14, 2007 at 5:40 PM
Bobnormal – You are absolutely right. The language differences amongst illegals is getting worse as well. If one could quit crying long enough to think about it, it’d be funny. The burden on our schools, teachers, medical facilities, courts, and state and county offices is horrendous. They keep hiring spanish language speakers only to find they need another dialect or another 3rd world obscure language employee daily. Where does it end?
24K lady on August 14, 2007 at 5:46 PM
Maybe they’ll hire native Nuahtl speakers next.

Mexico functions at about the level of Jim Crow America. There is rampant racism and the classism is even more despicable. If you have never visited the interior or ventured beyond Tijuana, you would likely not believe the squalor and poverty that pervades much of this resource-rich nation.
Socially, there is still an unwritten caste system, with indigenous tribes at the bottom, just above Mexicans of African descent.
We are importing a group of people who are largely uneducated and have proved very unwilling to assimilate. Despite the propaganda put forth by illegal immigrant activists, many children of illegal aliens do not learn English. Many immigrant communities are downright hostile to the concept of assimilation.
We are reaching a critical mass of people who don’t care about this country and in many cases, wish us harm.
Believe this. You have not even begun to feel the impact of Latino gangs. We all hear about Mara Salvatrucha. But that is just one small group in a rising tide of violent, anti-American degenerates.
One day, I was walking to my car after visiting a friend in a not-so-safe area in LA. An MS gangster walks out onto his balcony, holding 9mm Glock. I notice him pointing his pistol at me just as I look up. He seems surprised to see me look at him…not scared, just caught off gaurd. So he swings wildly and points the gun at a US Marshall who is standing outside of his marked car. This kid actually looks at me, laughs then fires at the marshall, then runs back into his own apt unit…literally laughing.
I left my name with the marshall, after coming out from behind my car. And I was out of there. My friend told me that the entire block is run by MS. And he has not seen a cop on his street since moving in. Keep in mind this is near a major university in Southern California.
Furthermore, many young Muslims from the Middle East are adopting a hip-hop and/or typically latino fashion sense. It might seem unimportant. But these subtle details will make a big difference when we are trying to identify the enemies within.
Perhaps I have a bone to pick. But as much as I genuinely enjoy the beautiful aspects of Mexican culture, I think we need to close the spigot until we regain some sense of sovereignty.
I do not recommend panic. Rather I urge pragmatic preparation for the worst.
Rant out.

Herikutsu on August 14, 2007 at 11:31 PM
It’s all because Bush never had a son.
He therefore doesn’t care about the country’s future.
Being thus detached from the meaning of his catastrophic failure to defend the integrity of the nation’s borders, because he has no intimate personal stake in it.
The girls can marry nice Australian guys and get the hell out before the chaotic demographic collapse which he and his cadre of indifferent elitists have brought upon us.
Barney (”the son I never had“) will be long gone by then.
(And I’m only half joking. Maybe 25%.)

It is obvious that we can easily control our borders. Sadly we have delegated the right to control our borders to people who have no intention of doing so. It is painfully obvious.
What are their motives? Many motives are served by the same act of keeping the borders open, keeping the illegal flood going, making sure we fracture our uniform ‘American’ identity, making sure Western culture is removed as the base culture of this land. I say ‘this land’ because the primary motive is to redefine ‘this nation’ as merely a geographical land mass, a set of latitudes and longitudes in relation to the unified world of commerce. To remove the identity of this land, we must erase the national identity and replace it with: nothing.
The Mexican replacement motif is simple a dilution of the obnoxious free will gun toting God serving eagle loving flag waving border patrolling hillbillies once called ‘Americans’ who still believe they own this nation.
Nationalists, now called derisively ‘nativist’ Americans are getting in the way of the program. That is why three leaders got together and without a treaty, made arrangements to meld Canada, America, and Mexico called the SPP. Businessmen and globalists applaud, the Senate sighs in relief at having passed the buck, but the ‘nativists’ scream.
Like gnats, the nativists interfere and must be diluted, their voices drowned out by mariachis, their dollar power drained by worker replacement, and outsourcing, their traditions diminished by the globalist drumbeat of the MSM, the teaching cadres, and various decadent subgroups longing to spread their wings free of the Western value systems.
So many groups tangling with the same troublemaker. Makes me think of Hitler’s ‘final solution’. Hitler traced almost every problem to the Jews. The final solution: eliminate Jews. Pure genius. The allies in today’s global conquest army have found the source of all their problems – the hillbilly nativist gnats called patriots. The solution: destroy, disable, or dilute these gnats

I have absolutely no problem with those who have roots in different nationalities passing down their heritage INCLUDING language. HOWEVER, as long as assimilation in OUR NATIONAL CULTURE occurs.
I can very well assure you that in the formerly French speaking part of Louisiana (in the South Central part of the state which does not include New Orleans) there are no greater patriots throughout our great land with numerous centers of patriotism of THE AMERICAN WAY, than those who are only one or two generations removed from French being the spoken language BUT NEVER THE LEGAL LANGUAGE in any way shape or form, since becoming part of the U.S.
The funny thing about the formerly French speaking part of Louisiana is that it was overwelmingly populated by German immigrants who learned French because it was the legal and spoken language when they arrived in the former French Colony in the 1700’s.
