Video: Peaceniks strike blow for freedom by toppling papier mache puppet
posted at 3:15 pm on August 14, 2007 by Allahpundit
Standard practice with effigies is to burn them, of course, but if they went that route they would have lost the equivalence they’re shooting for by symbolically tearing down a statue.
On the scale of anti-war protest sophistication, this one pegged somewhere around Country-Joe-and-the-Fish level:
The crowd gathered at 1 p.m. at the feet of a giant statue of Cheney holding a fishing rod in one hand and a spurting oil derrick in the other with a black hole where a heart should have been…
Dick Barker sang about the first name for the conflict in Iraq, which the government changed, he said.
“Operation Iraqi Liberation,” Barker sang. “Tell me, what does that spell?”
“O-I-L,” the crowd responded
There’s supposed to be a little Bush puppet with devil horns somewhere in there but darned if I can’t find him.

Operation Iraqi Freedom, dudes. You may as well have called it Operation Inbred Llama…
That would’ve spelled “oil” too, y’know.
John from OPFOR on August 14, 2007 at 3:20 PM
Ooh!!! Clever!!! I wish I was as creative as Liberals!!! I mean… they never show Cheney with a black heart (or no heart) spewing oil!! How can I get to be as clever as Liberals?!?!?!

At least the left has figured out the impeaching Bush wasn’t going to work out as well as they originally thought. They probably realized something was wrong with their plan when a bunch of people on the right said, “Impeachment? Go for it guys!”
Drew on August 14, 2007 at 3:25 PM
When will we get to see the NVA flags flying, again? Or, maybe, some Hammers and Sickles? If Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, Castro or Chavez were waging this war, these misfits would have no problem with it – none at all.
OhEssYouCowboys on August 14, 2007 at 3:27 PM
Don’t these people have jobs or are these the clowns that Hillary wants us to bail out because they’re going to lose their hovels?
Catie96706 on August 14, 2007 at 3:28 PM
These guys need lessons from San Franciscans on how to throw a proper protest rally. Amateurs.
pilamaye on August 14, 2007 at 3:28 PM
The left already plans to hunt down Bush people after they leave office. If the Rove comments are any indication the left will still have its witch hunt
William Amos on August 14, 2007 at 3:28 PM
NVA flags? Dude, this ain’t the sixties/seventies! The protestors today have been wearing keffiyah for years.

Anyone else notice the 6 or 7 year old boy joining in the fun at the end… an indicator of the mentality of the rest of the bunch, and necessary to bulk up the crowd, no?
By the way, why don’t the families of these people ever tell them how pathetic they look in the dark green commie-ish garb. You know, the solid dark green jacket/shirt, usually with some super cook patches, and the matching hat, that make them so edgy and informed, especially when combined with a scruffy beard and some thick black framed glasses, again showing just how intelligent they are. Ugh, I just look around crowds like this, and I’m like “how do they not wake up and think ‘I am such a loser. I go around acting like I’m some sort of outcast and independent thinker, but I’m clearly copying the millions of other douches who came before me and dressed and acted the exact same way. I’m a clone.’”
How do they not realize this? I’m really stunned by this fact, and annoyed at how these people look.
RightWinged on August 14, 2007 at 3:36 PM
Oh and did you hear that total tool bag near our cameraman go chuckle loudly “oh yeahahaa!” as the noose went around Cheney’s neck. Could he have sounded like any more of a loser? I’m sorry, but these people have to be the most annoying on the planet.
RightWinged on August 14, 2007 at 3:38 PM

400lb Gorilla on August 14, 2007 at 3:58 PM
I would wager 80% odds that the reason they didn’t burn the effigy is because the elected officials felt uncomfortable with that.
Tying a noose around it’s neck and tearing the head off? Not so much.
Nuance.

I just want to know why gas is still upwards of $2.79 if “All the US is doing is waging wars for oil!” Riddle me that, smarmy-pants!

They didn’t have any problem with it during the Vietnam War, I’ve seen it myself. These people are traitors to America and I’d love nothing more than to see them deported to the dictatorship of thier choice.

Meanwhile – from a cave in the Waziristan region – the following sounds are heard:
SMACK!
OOOOOOH!
WHY? WHY? WHY?
….as Ayman Al Zawahiri slaps his forehead in exasperation and dismay – and then loudly moans about the quality, sanity and general lameness of his fifth column .
Still – compliant Americans are hard to find and Al Qaeda will just have to make do with these cretins.

There was a peace symbol on that statue base. Beards, chanting, hand lettered signs; I think I’m having a flashback. Wow man the colors…. Anybody have a Snickers.

All that’s missing in this clip is Nahool throwing rocks.
I think the kid that ran up and grabbed the decapitated head at the end thought it was a pinata. Sorry kid, no candy today. You’ll have to wait until the La Raza protest next week.

Prior to CLinton being elected, I thought, no one would willingly vote for someone like this, who openly expressed hatred for the military, engaged in anti-war activities, etc.
Not only dod we elect this clown, we turned around and re-elected him. I realize this was mainly due to his lapdog in the media, and the gullibility of so many people. If we’re not careful, the same thing could happen again, only this time the stakes are higher.

The Communists know how to destroy America – by taking over our education system, by eliminating the parents from all education concerns – in effect, by educating the children to hate America and to hold her in contempt. The takeover of our education system was no mistake – it was a calculated move.
Destroy the family. Destroy the education system. Re-educate the children – and you will destroy America. That is their goal, and they are winning.

Don’t forget control of the media. The commie-libs own most of the media, and were it not for Fox and the internet we would all be woefully ignorant of what’s really going on.

Some of Dick Cheney’s neighbors???? did you get a look at these chuckle heads? Don’t look like Wyoming folk to me.

And Ms. Nipsy’s kindergarten class project was summarily destroyed by the Smellytown hippie crowd.

#1 – Do they actually know what is involved in impeachment proceedings?? I doubt it…
#2 –
Don’t you know? Cheney and Co. control the oil. Thats why oil prices are so high! He and his buds are controlling the flow…/sarc
#3 – Check this out. This is their vision of democracy. Believe me, these hooligans believe the same thing. If you follow the link at the bottom it brings you to the actual minutes of the meeting.
lsutiger on August 14, 2007 at 7:32 PM
Oh jeez, we just left there a week ago. My parents have a house that’s a block away from the Cheney’s house. In fact, last summer, the Secret Service saved my mom’s elderly dog who had wandered off during the night.
We go up there twice a year to vacation, and I’ve never seen a protest before, except for the group of six hippies holding up signs last week on the town square.
Too bad the hippies and ultra-rich Manhattanites and Los Angelenites are taking over there. My sister said she saw some eastern idiot make fun of the attire of two cowboys walking down the street. He said to them sarcastically, “Hey, is the rodeo in town?”, apparently not realizing that he was, in fact, standing in a Wyoming ranching town.
This is also the home of that NY socialite twit who got that Taliban PR guy a gig at Yale.
Anyway, I’ll remember the names of the businesses and individuals mentioned in that article.
juliesa on August 14, 2007 at 8:37 PM
Now I’ve watched the video, and the caption claiming it’s in front of Cheney’s house is a lie. This video was taken somewhere on the highway between Cheney’s subdivision and the ski resort up the road.
In any case, it looks as if they weren’t even able to round up even a small fraction of the hippies that live in that town for this event.

Kent Spence is the personal injury attorney son of Gerry Spence, that lawyer who used to go on all the talk shows wearing a fringed buckskin jacket. He sued my dad’s company for something that was completely his client’s fault. My dad’s company won the suit, but it was expensive and messy because the company refused to settle on such asinine claims.
Alexandra Fuller wrote a very interesting book a few years ago, of which I’ve read excerpts. Too bad that alleged adults like this would associate themselves with such a juvenile and violent display.
juliesa on August 14, 2007 at 9:09 PM
Why don’t we see more illegal immigrants protesting on videos? The small groups of hippies and code pinkers are really boring.
nottakingsides on August 14, 2007 at 10:09 PM
Exactly right.
Read the communist manifesto. It reads like a bullet point presentation for the far leftist controlled democratic party. Seriously.

Doh! Wrong thread.
Apologies.
techno_barbarian on August 15, 2007 at 12:07 AM
Does the term LOSERS mean anything to anyone? BTW, techno_barbarian, I haven’t read the CM, but I have read the Humanist Manifesto, I-III, and you’re right, it’s frightening. Really. Makes the Birchers seem not so nuts.
bikermailman on August 15, 2007 at 12:35 AM
Losers.
And now on August 25, a group of these peace morons is going to march on Walker Point in Kennebunkport demanding an end to the war. The President will not even be there, but these a-holes are going to tie up traffic and badger W’s elderly parents… nice! Gee… I hope my accelerator doesn’t get “jammed” that day.

I feel cheated. I was expecting to see a video of Tiananmen Square. Where is the Statue of Liberty?
Who is Big Head and why do the students fear Big Head?
Now I believe what they say about the feminizing effect of too much soy.
If they wanted a more effective protest they should have built a paper mache SUV. The SUV could drive wildy into Big Head decapitating him. The driver could dress as a foreign engineeering student posing as a suicide bomber thus signifying solidarity with the oppressed welfare recipients in Palestine and illegal aliens of all third rate nations longing to be fed free
