NYC madrassa ex-principal on her “resignation”: Islamophobia!

But of course. What makes this especially stupid, aside from the fact that it comes in the context of the City trying to fund an Arabic-themed school, is that she actually admitted last week that it was wrong to have defended the “Intifada NYC” t-shirts:
In a statement late yesterday afternoon, Ms. Almontaser backed away from her comments, reported by the New York Post, saying she regretted suggesting the T-shirt slogan was appropriate. “By minimizing the word’s historical associations I implied that I condone violence and threats of violence,” she said. “That view is anathema to me and the very opposite of my life’s work.”
That sort of thing won’t help her much within “the community,” though, not to mention with any possible discrimination suits going forward (can you sue for wrongful termination if you resigned?) so now she’s singing a new tune:
“Unfortunately, a small group of highly misguided individuals has launched a relentless attack on me because of my religion,” Almontaser wrote to Schools Chancellor Joel Klein last Friday. “They have used my religion as the pretext to undermine the Academy and have taken my words out of context to distort my record and portray me as something that I am not.”
The punchline? Go see who her replacement is. I’m picturing Fran Drescher in the lead role when, not if, this gets made into a classroom comedy.
Thanks to JWF for staying all over this.

Thanks for the links, AP.
Don’t forget to take their pol, folks.
I know they’ll appreciate the feedback.

pol = poll.
JammieWearingFool on August 14, 2007 at 11:09 AM
I’m sure she really meant to have the shirts say:
Infante Isa (Baby Jesus) NYC.
Yes, that’s the ticket!
When does the race card come out of the Islamophboia deck?
profitsbeard on August 14, 2007 at 11:10 AM
Right. The city that’s pouring tax dollars into a madrassa school is “Islamaphobic” because it fired the principle who admitted her wrongdoing in defending the shirts. Makes sense!
amerpundit on August 14, 2007 at 11:11 AM
Yawn… What’s new? Oh yeah, you oppose an intifada or the Pali side in the Jihad against the Joooooooos – you then qualify as an Islamophobe.
That principal is guilty of Kafirophobia. Which qualifies as a phobia better than Islamophobia.

Oh I smell law suit and big settlement! Stay tuned!

I cant wait to hear Michelle accuse Ibriham Hooper of being Kafirophobia…
doriangrey on August 14, 2007 at 11:23 AM
When their backs are against the wall, they always play the race or religion card.
Yeah, I guess we can’t question your judgement, or the fact that you had no curriculum, or that you held back any information regarding your credentials as a school administrator.
Hey, don’t question her, she has a “religion” card.
right2bright on August 14, 2007 at 11:26 AM
All together now:
“Ibriham Hooper is Kafurophobic”
..wow…that has nice ring to it….
Can we say that again?

So is she saying that t-shirts encouraging a violent uprising in NYC are encouraged by her religion? Who’da thunk it?
coyoterex on August 14, 2007 at 11:42 AM
You know, after years of counseling and quiet self-reflection*, I’d thought I’d finally conquered my Islamophobia.
But then some idiot started selling “Intifada NYC” T-shirts.

Looks like we have a new jihadi politician in Georgia (no, I’m not talking about Cynthia McKinney).
Mayor Jack Ellis (now Hakim Mansour Ellis since converting to Islam in Feb 07) sent Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez a declaration of solidarity.

Islam is a culture that references religion to excuse its barbarism.
Long before 9/11, Muslims have hidden their activities within this country. In a country that professes religious openness, Islam is under self imposed lock down, and only sticks out its head to whine, spout racism or excuse itself from Islamic terror.
Islam can only truly exist in fascist countries run by deranged male chimps wrapped in sheets and spending their time being paranoid about menstruating women and the seventy-four rules of urination (jiggle it three times and have your hand cut off). Outside of that, these are outposts simply hiding behind brainwashed women and waiting for local Jihad.

When John who served in Vietnam Kerry returned, it was difficult to identify that creature as genus Rattus.
Now, the Scott Beauchumps, Jesse Jacksons, Flying Imams and Jack Ellis’ of the world are immediately identifiable. That’s what I call progress. I guess you could call me an optimistic progressive.

Have they ever been on same show as guests? That would be interesting fireworks, I’m sure.

“They have used my religion as the pretext…blah blah…and have taken my words out of context…blah blah.”
Blah blah blah…next time I get a ticket I’m gonna use that.

I mean next time “They”give me a speeding ticket out of context…

The big head-scratcher for me is that tax dollars are going to fund an islamic school. where is the outrage from the taxpayers in Brooklyn?????? And WHY hasn’t the ACLU filed a lawsuit claiming separation of church and state??????? Isn’t this one of the reasons liberals don’t like vouchers? Because they can go towards parochial or private schools??? Can someone say “double standard?”

Nailed that one right on the head there, infidel.

Personally, I don’t suffer from a “fear of Islam.” That’s what “Islamophobia” means, after all. I’m not afraid of Islam. Not at all. I don’t care which god a heathen worships (and I use the word heathen in it’s “classical,” Old English, meaning). As long as their worship does not interfere with either my life or my own beliefs.
However, I really despise those who murder innocents because they think their holy book approves. The Jihadists, in other words.

I can answer that for u easy, having lived in NYC most of my life, including in Bklyn.
There are some Americans by birth living here, but even they’re part of some more or less permanently aggrieved minority group. Nope, the land of Bloomberg, Clinton, Schumer, the UN, the NY Times, lib Media, Sharpton, et al more resembles the General Assembly, not America. Even the America that lives on only in our imaginations is unknown here.
Taxes? It’s how the residents pay their bills. Islamic schools? Why the hell not? We have a big old cultural void to fill.
Here’s a big secret about NY. Without continous immigration from abroad, no one would be living here anymore. The native pop. gave up on the place a long time ago.
The taxpayers. Now that’s funny.
JiangxiDad on August 14, 2007 at 1:49 PM
George, I think islamophobia would mean the “irrational” fear of Islam. I would be willing to argue that anybody who has a fear of some Islamic wackjob setting off a nuke in a major US city, has a fear, but it is not irrational.

They are touting this school as a school for arabic speaking children, not muslim or any other religion. So the ACLU (wants to) believes that and is standing on the sidelines.
However, as stated, the curiculum was never known. What “books were being used were never discussed.
These may be some:
“Making a bomb from mommy’s pantry” was probably one science book.
Abstinence for this world only” was their sex education book
For the young children a “Where’s Waldo” type book called Where’s the Jew” or for history “Where’s Israel”
Social studies would be “Trading wives” a guide to women as chattel.
Unbelievable.
