Video: Hillary’s first ad
posted at 1:35 pm on August 13, 2007 by Allahpundit
In eight words: George Bush is bad, she won’t be bad.
No “Sopranos” parody here — it’s set to run in Iowa so she’s playing it very straight. Mildly surprising that she’s out of the box with an attack on Bush instead of the standard bio fare (contrast Obama’s first Iowa ad) but I guess even Iowans know who Hillary Clinton is at this point.
I must say, I found the crowd reaction shot of Kos and KP holding hands and nodding affecting.

The way she holds that microphone at the end…

Something about that first shot of her, walking the field with the farmer says “I’ll even walk through a field with a farmer to get elected.” I simply cannot believe I am the only one who finds her to be a genuine turn-off.
I’m starting to think that Hillary really is our best shot at tipping Congressional seating back in the Republican’s favor . . .
The Therapist on August 13, 2007 at 1:45 PM
True everyone who’s been paying attention will recognize the ad as a pile of BS. But everyhone who’s been paying attention has already made up their mind about Hillary.
All of her new voters will come from the XX% who really haven’t cared about politics.
TunaTalon on August 13, 2007 at 1:46 PM
I WANT to be invisible to my government!
WTH!
Dang socialists…
dc84123 on August 13, 2007 at 1:49 PM
I agree with Kos’s assessement of Hillary.
“Senator Clinton shows no proclivity for real leadership as a lawmaker. Afraid to offend, she has limited her policy proposals to minor, symbolic issues. She doesn’t have a single memorable policy or legislative accomplishment to her name. Meanwhile, she remains behind the curve or downright incoherent on pressing issues such as the war in Iraq. The last thing we need is yet another Democrat afraid to stand on principle. Her advisers have stripped what personality she has, hiding it from the public. What remains is a heartless, passionless machine.”

The way it went slo-mo there at the end mirrored the way my breakfast backed up slo-mo into my mouth.

Jesus – what a dud.
Too bad she’s NOT invisible.
Too bad that grating voice is not muted.
OBX Pete on August 13, 2007 at 1:57 PM
Given the choice, I’d rather be invisible to the government. If I’m visible to it, it’s taking my money or accusing me of speeding or something like that. If I’m invisible to it, it’s leaving me alone.

This reminded me of a commercial that Gore made in a Caterpillar plant here. Every person was screened about their voting preference and if you had ever voted GOP then you could not be present. Those who seemed the most adoring had prime seating in some of the clips. Just politics I guess.

You guys beat me to it. Wait a second. Aren’t the lefties the ones always hollering about surveillance and “eavesdropping on American citizens”?

Regardless of political persuasion, money trumps everything.Unless you can force the trump card early and clean up at the end.

Just a word to the wise! Under HillaryCare you’ll have to be invisible if you want on of these! In fact, you’ll be required to go into hiding!!!!

Hillary’s campaign slogan:
“You’re someone I can tax. You’re not invisible to me”
Kowboy on August 13, 2007 at 2:13 PM
That’s not catchy.
It’ll be: We’re going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good.
lorien1973 on August 13, 2007 at 2:20 PM
So the Senator is soft on stealth technology?
I could not help but notice that with the exception of the one kid reading in the poorly lit classroom, persons of color were invisible to Clinton’s video editors.

If Hill The Shill thinks something like this is going to get people stampeding to the polls come Election Day to toss their vote her way, she is in serious need of a reality check.
pilamaye on August 13, 2007 at 2:26 PM
What a horrible voice she has. I really hope I don’t have to listen to that for 8 yrs.
Zetterson on August 13, 2007 at 2:28 PM
But you don’t stay with the theme. What about:
“I know what’s best for you. You’re not invisible to me.”?

Spirit of 1776 on August 13, 2007 at 2:33 PM
Newsflash to Hillary: George Bush is not running for president again. You don’t have to campaign against him.
aero on August 13, 2007 at 2:34 PM
What? Being invisible would be, like, so, OMG, cool!!!
Do invisible citizens not have to pay taxes and still profit from all that America has to offer–with no cost to themselves?
Oh wait, I just described “undocumented Americans”.
I guess Big Mother Hillary wants to install Telescreens in every home, on every street, at your workplace, in the parks, along the roads…ya know…so she can be sure to see and hear you. Then you won’t be invisible and she can “dialogue” with you. Winston!! Bend over and touch your toes, stop slacking!!
Ahh, we love you Big Mother. We Loooooooove you!!

In Hill The Shill’s case, to paraphrase Martha Stewart: Invisibility. It’s a good thing.

I bet that farmer has one helluva harvest this year!
Dork B. on August 13, 2007 at 2:43 PM
The longer they run against Bush and not -for- something the better. It will only help in the general election. Imagine hillary saying “the past 8 years” in a debate; then the republican saying “the past 8 years aren’t running, i am” or something like that. it’s a great line. sound bite material.
lorien1973 on August 13, 2007 at 2:53 PM
Every democrat is going to run against George Bush because it’s easy, and he’s well defined.
Fortunately, George isn’t running, so the repubs can ignore the attacks aimed at him.
So when is someone going to point out that Hillary is calling for the biggest increase in government since the failed HillaryCare program?
Canadian Imperialist Running Dog on August 13, 2007 at 2:55 PM
Yes Dork, but with all that BS contamination, will it be fit for human consumption?
TunaTalon on August 13, 2007 at 2:57 PM
I too would like to be invisable.
The value of not being seen.
And the opposite end of the coin.

It is absolutely unbelievable to me that this woman is the current front runner for POTUS. What a sad testament to the American electorate. Next cycle, it will probably be Al Sharpton or Rosie O. What the hell are our fellow citizens eating or drinking to make them so foolish? Is it the transformation of our population from mostly ambitious western European achievers to a tossed salad of bewildered unassimilated natives from the third world backlands of the earth? Or, is it the growing population segments of American citizenry that have grown up with the victim/welfare mentality where they have been encouraged not to use their heads?
I can’t believe it is the enlightenment of an educated society reaching intellectual fruition. That would be incredibly unbelievable.
I guss the problem is me because I just don’t get it.
saiga on August 13, 2007 at 3:01 PM
Hillary Clinton doesn’t have to spend a penny to win the Primary. These adds are being run as tests. They need to find out whether broadcasting her face and voice RAISES or LOWERS her numbers.
My guess is that after the real campaign begins, the only place you’ll see and hear Hillary Clinton is on Republican attack adds – assuming we nominate somebody willing to play that “dirty.”
logis on August 13, 2007 at 3:07 PM
Heh. I guess she just lost the illegal immigrant vote.
It never ceases to amaze me how gullible some folks are. They just don’t understand that once the “taking for the common good” begins, even the poor are not immune.
BacaDog on August 13, 2007 at 3:21 PM
I’m going to contribute to Hillary’s campaign big time. Not because I want the woman elected but because there is real value in keeping her ads on the air. Saturation of the airwaves now will get the electorate asking if they really want four years of listening to the screeching pig-in-a-pantsuit spout her smug arrogance and utter ignorance of international affairs and national security.

Was she speaking in a phoney Cornish accent, squire?
andycanuck on August 13, 2007 at 3:29 PM
What a horrible choice to use her stump-speech yell as the voice-over for the hearts and violins farm walk. She was supposedly going to show a softer side, but she can’t stop the high-volume bluster. Reminds me of other orators who couldn’t speak quietl…[Godwin's Law comment yank]

I minute I heard her voice, I asked myself “Do I still have my wallet?”
Captain America on August 13, 2007 at 3:47 PM
Invisibility, what a joke, just another unveiling of her communist self…oh, you’re poor? Sorry, but that is Bush’s fault. Elect me and I will be your Robin Hood, steal from the rich to give to the poor…of course you won’t be getting a dime of my own money, or even from the truly rich, I’ll just bring the middle class down to poverty level also by raising taxes…how is it that she is a serious candidate?
Trtle2001 on August 13, 2007 at 3:50 PM
Because a serious percentage of the Dems are serious about moving to some serious socialism.

Again, she is running against Bush.
She makes reference to people being “invisible to this president”
He’s not running, you dumb nutbag!!!!!!!!!!!

Farmers like Hillary, all women like Hillary (expect the kooks her husband molested), Christians like Hillary (She’s a Methodist and Bill is a Southern Baptist) and even aborted babies forgive Hillary. She’s just too darn lovable.
Even the gullible nitwits in New York that elected her again and believed she wasn’t running for President love Hillary.
Huh???????

May be corny but they succeeded in softening her up a bit. Pretty scary, if you ask me. Her Hollywood friends will have angel’s wings on her by next summer, and way too many gullible folks will buy it…

She has to run against Bush to try and keep people from paying any attention to her far left, MARXIST, leanings.
0 + 0 = ZERO. That’s what she is – a total zero!!
OBX Pete on August 13, 2007 at 5:41 PM
Hey, if you like a candidate who grows up in north suburban Chicago an alleged Cubs fan but then says she’s a Yankees fan to win votes in New York, Hillary Clinton is the candidate for you!
I wonder how often Bill has shoved her under the covers and farted in her face.

She’s been listening to Bill for strategy: Focus your campaign on the one person you know you can beat.
If they’re not going to have that chick in the red shorts run in and throw a hammer at the screen, then what’s the use, huh?
Lone Star on August 13, 2007 at 10:03 PM
Uhgg… Oh yes, Hillary-Care will have all the efficiency of the post office and all the compassion of the IRS, your health will be maintained as well as America’s bridges… and don’t worry, if things go badly, there is always the Terri Schiavo treatment.
