The obligatory “Guardian rat wishes death for Iraqi interpreters” post
posted at 3:05 pm on August 10, 2007 by Allahpundit
What can you say? So cartoonish was Charles’s blockquote that I read through the post at the Guardian site just to make sure he had it right.
The money quote is the one about who the “true heroes” are but the important part is the last sentence. Once you accept that this is “George Bush’s war,” as even Hillary “Hawk” Clinton does, then you’ve got a free line of moral credit for every atrocity that may occur from here on out. 500,000 dead from ethnic cleansing post-withdrawal? Charge that to George Bush’s account and redeem the points you earn for Senate seats. In fact, if you regard Iraq, as the left does, as a paradigm Teachable Moment about intervention and warmongering and American hubris, then the more dead there are, the more teachable the moment becomes and the better off we are in the long run. That’s precisely where the turd who wrote the Guardian piece ends up, albeit via the circuitous route of condemning Iraqis who’ve assisted coalition troops in assisting the democratically elected Iraqi government as traitors to the mindless cause of “resistance.”
Go read Totten’s interview with an Iraqi interpreter if you missed it earlier this week. “The militias will hunt down and kill me and my family. I will beat them to it by killing myself.”

Whatever they need to tell themselves to make it easier to sleep at night.
I don’t think that there is much coming from the left that surprises me any more.

That is sick.
It also completely overlooks the fact that the majority of the “insurgents” are actually foreign fighters from Saudi Arabia, Iran & Syria that are crossing the border to start trouble.
Instead, it uses the Michael Moore paint-by-numbers kit to color the foreign jihadis as local Iraqi freedom fighters. But, to add some irony to the picture, he claims that the interpreters that are serving their democratically elected government as interpreters for the US/British troops are actually the bad guys.
This guy’s hoping for a high body count and he doesn’t feel the least bit bad about it.
sick sick sick

The guardian… Almost everytime I risk clicking on someone’s link to their site, I come away feeling…slimed.

Be sure to read the comment in the actual post…

Not a surprise given that Seamus Milne has helped to turn the Guardian which was just an annoying leftist paper into a platform where he and others regularly praise the “resistance” and give voice to every Islamist they can find as balance in their minds.
Neil Clark has a rep if you do a run down of his articles of being an anti-western type no matter the subject.
Ripclawe on August 10, 2007 at 3:24 PM
What a chickenhawk.
Mr. Clark supports the insurgents yet he is unwilling to detonate himself or leave his comfortable life to fight alongside them.
Mike Honcho on August 10, 2007 at 3:26 PM
It is obligatory, the guy is a sick bastard. I wonder if we’ll see anyone stupid enough in the US to latch on to this.
Bad Candy on August 10, 2007 at 3:26 PM
Liberal Brits are actually more nauseating than Americans. This moron would have been writing about how brilliant Chamberlain is dealing with Hitler seventy years ago. This is part of the Queen’s royal intelligentsia brigade willing to turn all Iraqi’ that supported UK troops over to his Islamic allies. That will show them!!! It also sends a signal back in swinging England that if you support the Brits against homeland terrorists, large brained, Liberal pond scum like himself will sell you out.
Hening on August 10, 2007 at 3:28 PM
What I found mildly encouraging was the vast majority of reader’s comments slamming this sad man…including a significant number of Brits identifying themselves as anti-war/libs.
PatrickS on August 10, 2007 at 3:29 PM
They’ve had more practice. Give the US Left time. They’ll catch up.

I wonder do people like Neil Clark even think about what they
are saying before they write? He’s basically saying: We don’t want to start wars because people die but it’s ok if people who didn’t support my position on the war die.
terryannonline on August 10, 2007 at 3:34 PM
CNN has an interpreter’s story as well.

We should thank Neil Clark for dropping the liberal mask and revealing so completely that the Left are allies of Evil.
What clever distortions he uses. He cunningly distorts the fact that the Baathist insurgents, a small minority of the population, who would kill Iraq translators to the false proposition that they represent the majority of the Iraqi population. That is like saying the Mafia speaks for the citizens of Sicily. And of course, the Left has used this tactic in Vietnam, where they said the Viet Cong were the voice of the people, leaving out the part where the Viet Cong were assassinating villagers to terrorize them into submission.
Lefties like Neil Clark want to take Iraq back to tyranny and plunge Iraq back into a living hell.

Wow. About anything I could think to say to this might (rightfully) get me banned.
Never a good idea to match hate with hate.

The most disgusting thing I’ve ever read.

Mr. Clark seems to be in dire need of a rabid badger suppository.
Kowboy on August 10, 2007 at 4:45 PM
Nothing.
In fact, I’m starting to wonder if we shouldn’t all just stop talking, and instead – just make sure that the general public knows what the Left is saying.
Their own words and actions condemn them a thousand times more than anything we could say or do.
About the only thing worth saying at times like this – and this stuff seems to be coming from the Left with increasing frequency lately – is simply this: we will remember.
What they did and said during this time will be remembered.
It’s funny that somebody else already mentioned Chamberlain, because he proves the point. By his own actions, he became a single-word symbol for unthinking, knee-jerk pacifism that led to unimaginable suffering.
He’s short-hand for why we loathe the left much of the time.
And when I read stuff like this, my first thought is always: is this the next Chamberlain? Will *this* be the guy that becomes a single-word nounified object of ridicule to future generations?
Chamberlain can rest easy, because I’m pretty sure we’ll stop using his name in the near future – because somebody better will come along. Or is already here.
For that matter, I suspect our generation will stop using Hitler so much, too … because we’ll be dealing with our own version. With nuclear weapons. Too bad “Imadinnerjacket” is so much harder to spell than Hitler. Maybe future bloggers won’t deal with Godwin’s Law, since “Imadoggonenutjob” is just too hard to type.
Maybe at the very bottom of it all, the difference between liberals and conservatives is that conservatives respect history and try not to repeat its mistakes – and liberals don’t even know the history.
Sure. Until tomorrow.

The comments on that thread are priceless.
I love how you can actually almost hear the British accent even in the comments.
We should get some of that around here – class the joint up a bit. Those cucumber sandwiches sound good, too.
Professor Blather on August 10, 2007 at 4:59 PM
From Clark himself responding in the comments:
There you have. The truth of liberalism. Out there for everyone to see.
Professor Blather on August 10, 2007 at 5:54 PM
OK, I believe in free speech and all… but that doesn’t excuse the Guardian for publishing such vile self-hatred. The guy came out in full support of the terrorist enemy and against the soldiers and Iraqis trying to bring peace to the country.
It’s unfortunate that tar and feathering has gone out of style. At some point ordinary people are going to have to start standing against this garbage if their societies are to be saved.
Hollowpoint on August 10, 2007 at 6:06 PM
Not surprising, seeing as that scumbags great “hero” is Slobodan Milosevic. Neil Clark is a totalitarian worshiping useful idiot, pure and simple.
madne0 on August 10, 2007 at 6:07 PM
You see, read or hear something just about every day that stuns you. Well I can only speak for me. I think it can’t get any lower. I say it all the time.
Surprise. Then I see it all over again

Gah. At least it’s there; something else added to his internet portfolio, that will follow him around wherever he appears.

That of course is exactly what’s happening in Britain, but the quislings are the government and leftists such as this writer and the rest of the Guardian. The quislings are letting the invaders in, subsidizing them, handing them political power, and persecuting anyone who complains. The difference of course is that the invaders are poor and non-Western, so, without usually admitting that that is the reason, the quislings like this writer insist that it does not therefore count as invasion and conquest but is actually a deserved and beneficial medicine that Britain needs for being so rich and powerful and white.

Kowboy-
“Rabid“?
That was unnecessary.
A healthy badger is far more industrious.
(Neil Clark looks like a man who has tipped his nozzle over too many lagers and limes. And likely thinks Lenin was a peachy progressive instead of a red-spattered psychopath.)
