Video: The motion picture event of the decade

Uwe Boll would be the natural choice to direct but the trailer’s far too compelling to have his fingerprints on it. I held it together for about a minute, until “Find a 1 on a corner? IT’S A MINE.” And that was it for me.

Stolen shamelessly from Ace, about whose list of “guy movies chicks will watch” I’ll say only this: any woman who can’t appreciate “Evil Dead II” isn’t worth dating.

Blowback

“What happens then?”

“Nothing, you just suck!”

That hurt, dude. I’m not disputing it, but damn, that hurt.

I’m going to be so bold to say this is going to do for Minesweeper what Top Gun did for the Navy.

TheEJS on August 9, 2007 at 3:45 PM

or at least what Iron Eagles did for the AF.

That’s just because he’s never found a woman who appreciates it.

we love our AP, tbh he is the reason i read this blog, often hilarious, always insightful, unfortunatley iphonless, but he still perseveres.

I’ll say only this: any woman who can’t appreciate “Evil Dead II” isn’t worth dating.

From High Fidelity (2000):

Rob: Just come on. What would it mean to you, that sentence: “I haven’t seen Evil Dead II yet” ?

Barry: Well, to me it would mean that you’re a liar. You’ve seen it twice. Once with Laura — oops — and once with me and Dick remember? We had that conversation about that guy making Beretta shotgun ammo off-screen in the 14th century.

Rob: Right. But let’s just say that I hadn’t seen it. And I said, “I haven’t seen Evil Dead II yet.” What would you think?

Barry: I’d think that you’re a cinematic idiot and I’d feel sorry for you.

Rob: All right. But from that one sentence, would you think that I was going to see it?

Minesweeper sounds better than several movies in the theaters right now.

To clearify: I’m talking about the mash up possibilities. :P

High Desert Wanderer on August 9, 2007 at 4:09 PM

Minesweeper would certainly beat out Gigli, Hoot, An Inconvenient Truth, Bratz, and many other crapflics. Seriously, Minesweeper has the potential for Comedy Gold. I expecially liked the “it’s never the first one! *BOOM*”

Kini on August 9, 2007 at 4:18 PM

They still have the Vents. They’re just disguised so you’ll read all the posts.

Kini on August 9, 2007 at 4:20 PM

The trailer was funny, but sad thing is someone would make a real movie out of it.

The funny thing is, a lot of those movies on Ace’s list are ones I would drag my husband to see. One of my favorite all-time movies is “Army of Darkness”, I’ve seen “Evil Dead II” on my own time, and I hate chick flicks with a passion.

ScoopPC11 on August 9, 2007 at 4:22 PM

I kind of liked this one from the same source, although the language is extremely bad: Where the F*** is Carmen Sandiego?

“Do it, Rockapella!”

The odd thing is that Solitaire could probably be turned into a legitimate indie movie. “She was the queen of his heart”, “Damn you, you’re a joker”, that kind of thing. It would be a quirky load of dung like Garden State.

Yeah and not having health insurance is supposed to be motivation to better yourself too.

It’s supposed to be a free country so pursue happiness and if she says no there’s lots of other pursuits out there.

Better special effects than the game. Is there a new version I can download :-)

Ordinary1 on August 9, 2007 at 6:37 PM

I love it! I wonder if you could actually make a decent movie out of this concept?

I guess me and the Big Al will never date.

This is a spoof of the movie ” The Guardian ” with Kevin Costner about a Coast Guard training facility
