I’ve always wondered what it must have been like to watch the Beatles live on Sullivan.

And now, my friends, I know.

Excellent job! I can’t see the strings!

ej_pez on August 9, 2007 at 1:55 PM

I knew as soon as I saw it posted by Allah, it would be Adam Bahner yet again.

firepilot on August 9, 2007 at 1:56 PM

Oh man. The best part about that was the people looking all uncomfortable in the audience. Like no one knew quite how to react.

I should have known he was a grad student…

nailinmyeye on August 9, 2007 at 2:01 PM

“This is CNN” – lol

wordwarp on August 9, 2007 at 2:03 PM

I miss the Rosie and Brokeback posts. sigh!

Kini on August 9, 2007 at 2:06 PM

If this is the kind of uh, talent, that YouTube is fostering, we’re doomed. It sounds like something Japanese robots could’ve written better.

And I can’t believe Hot Air’s first Jimmy Kimmel post isn’t this:

Priorities, Allah, priorities…

Halley on August 9, 2007 at 2:10 PM

Curse you, Allah!

I’ll admit, I miss The View/Rosie posts. OK, I said it! You happy now Allah?

Bad Candy on August 9, 2007 at 2:10 PM

Um, I watched The Beatles live on Sullivan, and, well, OK, Allah, yeah, it’s just like it, only missing the screaming girls.

O-Dub on August 9, 2007 at 2:12 PM

Argh, if this is what August is going to be like, I’m just going come back in September:)

Spirit of 1776 on August 9, 2007 at 2:13 PM

So that’s who bumped Matt Damon?

frankj on August 9, 2007 at 2:15 PM

I’ve always wondered what it must have been like to watch the Beatles live on Sullivan.

He’s married, girls.

I saw all the Ed Sullivan appearances live on tv in early 1964. My older sister, though, saw the Beatles play live twice when they toured through Detroit in 1964 and 1966. Her friend’s dad was the promoter and they had great tickets down in front. She says that you couldn’t hear a note or a word due to all the girls screaming. I remember my father being upset because one of the shows was an matinée afternoon show on the eve of Yom Kippur and my sister got home just before the holiday started.

rokemronnie on August 9, 2007 at 2:20 PM

Huh! What the hell was that? I kept waiting for the bridge to come in, and it never did. I actually liked it until it just didn’t change.

And Allah, I do remember watching the Beatles live on Ed Sullivan and I’m sorry, you will have to keep wondering what it was like.

Masscon on August 9, 2007 at 2:20 PM

Where’s the F*CKING GONG!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!

thareb on August 9, 2007 at 2:21 PM

bridgetown on August 9, 2007 at 2:29 PM

the lady’s expression at about 2:27 (counting down) is priceless. She’s like: WTF is this?

lorien1973 on August 9, 2007 at 2:31 PM

Um, is it just me, or does he look like he could belong in the Jackson family….

heatherrc77 on August 9, 2007 at 2:32 PM

We’ve had like 5 versions of chocolate rain this week; and no humping robot. Dammit. I want my money back :(

lorien1973 on August 9, 2007 at 2:32 PM

Gotta say…he’s more famous than I’ll ever be, so I can’t rag on the Taymeister too much. Always wanted to hear him do the “this is CNN” bit!

If it weren’t for YouTube…

JetBoy on August 9, 2007 at 2:33 PM

And I’m supposed to be impressed? can you say Canned? prerecorded on his Yamadog synth?
I’m a musician so I have ABSOLUTE MORAL AUTHORITY on this subject(LOL)
Bob

Bobnormal on August 9, 2007 at 2:37 PM

So that’s Chocolate Rain? Makes me miss Prince and Purple Rain.

Bigfoot on August 9, 2007 at 2:38 PM

I missed the song title but after about the 30th repeat, I was pretty sure I knew it.

AtomicAmish on August 9, 2007 at 2:47 PM

Um, is it just me, or does he look like he could belong in the Jackson family…

lol, especially with the glasses

Spirit of 1776 on August 9, 2007 at 2:48 PM

At least the kid gets it for the most part. William Hung 2.0

- The Cat

I also loved the fact that the only ones in the audience that dug the lyrics were white. Well from what I could see.

MirCat on August 9, 2007 at 3:18 PM

arrgh .. Damnnn you AP .. Damnnn youuuu
Now I have that stupid “dododidododododo chocolate rain…” going ’round and ’round in my head …

-FatOldGuy

Fogpig on August 9, 2007 at 3:28 PM

Matt Damon! got bumped for the Choclate Rain Guy. lmao!

srhoades on August 9, 2007 at 3:30 PM

OK, folks.
how can I get the keyboard riff in the beginning as a ringtone?

-Fat Old Guy

Fogpig on August 9, 2007 at 3:39 PM

Sounds like he swallowed a tire iron.

sbf.

subbottomfeeder on August 9, 2007 at 3:41 PM

The guy really would be well-served to forget about singing and focus on going the Don LaFontaine commerical voice route. If you can get it going, that’s a pretty sweet gig.

BTW, the “Matt Damon got bumped” thing is a gag Kimmel does pretty much every night.

Blacklake on August 9, 2007 at 3:44 PM

He’s raw, but he has a nice natural bass singing voice. Take away his keyboard and give him some voice lessons.

packsoldier on August 9, 2007 at 4:03 PM

Strangely original….

George on August 9, 2007 at 4:18 PM

Forget the frog voiced freak, was that Catherine Bell? Still smokin’ hot.

mesablue on August 9, 2007 at 4:34 PM

Devo with a sore throat.

fogw on August 9, 2007 at 4:44 PM

He seems like a nice kid. More power to him.

robblefarian on August 9, 2007 at 4:45 PM

He has an awesome voice and it’s a catchy song… just really, really repetitive. I might shoot myself the next time I hear it.

emmaline1138 on August 9, 2007 at 4:53 PM

I hope this guy gets a recording contract out of this and makes a crapload of money.

Dork B. on August 9, 2007 at 4:58 PM

I JUST got “Chocolate Rain” out of my head.

THANK YOU ALLA!!!!

damn it . . .

Troy Rasmussen on August 9, 2007 at 5:50 PM

That was just…frightening.

CyberCipher on August 9, 2007 at 5:51 PM

best post ever.

John from OPFOR on August 9, 2007 at 6:06 PM

Ate a bad burrito….chocolate rain

Locrian on August 9, 2007 at 7:00 PM

Thanks AP. I went from having “Sonic, America’s Driiiivee-Innnnn” stuck in my head from the Onion thread to having this insanity stuck in my head. AHHHH!

hollygolightly on August 9, 2007 at 8:45 PM

Why couldn’t you have posted the Catharine Bell clip instead of this tool?

PBoilermaker on August 9, 2007 at 9:53 PM

Deja Views, man…

Where’s the F*CKING GONG!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!

thareb on August 9, 2007 at 2:21 PM

That was my first thought (but cleaner)

I JUST got “Chocolate Rain” out of my head. THANK YOU ALLA!!!! damn it . . .

Troy Rasmussen on August 9, 2007 at 5:50 PM

That was my second thought…

was that Catherine Bell? Still smokin’ hot.

mesablue on August 9, 2007 at 4:34 PM

That was my third thought…

If there’s any therapy that can help exorcise the Chocolate Rain demon from one’s inner ear, it would be creative visualization. (There were plenty that could have been linked here, but I’m *ahem* at work right now, y’see.)

Seriously – why bother setting this Tonday Zonday character down at a keyboard when all he’d really have to do is push one button on it and the mind-numbing track would play itself. (Have they tried this at Gitmo yet?)
