Video: Channel 4 (UK) interviews Al Qaeda

From the network that brought you the Bush assassination snuff-udrama, the war crimes trial of Tony Blair, the Islamic “alternative Christmas message,” the anti-war agitprop film “The Mark of Cain” depicting British troops abusing Iraqi prisoners, and of course the highly nuanced interview stylings of Palestinian shill Jon Snow comes the latest episode of “Dispatches” and a fresh look at British Muslims. The blogging day doesn’t afford me a half hour to watch, but in fairness, the first of the five parts you’ll find below looked reasonably well balanced and interesting. Let me know in the comments how the rest is; the last clip appears to cut off before the show ends but I didn’t upload it so there’s nothing I can do about it.

The bit that’s getting attention comes about five minutes into the second clip when they interview “Abu Mohammed,” a jihadist with links to Al Qaeda who’s gained such a reputation among British intel that they kicked him out of the country. It’s absurd that they’re taking heat for this given the extent to which Islamic radicals already appear in the western media, both here and (especially) in Britain, where would-be Pope-killer Anjem Choudary is a perennial press favorite. But it’s good, I guess, to remind them occasionally that this sort of thing is frowned upon lest the coziness get even cozier.

The punchline? The one bit of stellar anti-jihadist programming Channel 4’s responsible for — the “Undercover Mosque” episode that went viral in January — is now being challenged by British police with claims that the producers ripped incendiary quotes out of context to make the speakers look more radical than they were. I invite you to watch the clips and imagine what could have been omitted, short of disclaimers that “I disagree with everything that just came out of my mouth,” to materially affect the broader context.

Also, as a counterpoint to what follows, watch Sky’s two-minute segment on jihadist turned reformer Hanif Qadir, who’s apparently steered quite a few would-be mujahids away from temptation since returning himself from Afghanistan. He can’t get funding from the British government now, for whatever reason. And naturally there are a few people in his Muslim neighborhood who aren’t big fans.

I watched this yesterday via CJ, and I gotta say this bodes extremely ill for Britain. The discussion of the “covenant” between citizen and state was, in my opinion, the most illuminating portion of this film and well worth the time.

Wow. No interest on this site at all in this subject anymore, huh? I’d better make with a moronic Fred post, stat.

Or you could just give people time to watch all of it. Or do you expect us to speak before we know what’s going on? Sometimes you act like an ex-wife.

AP, Too much information on a well beaten horse. The number of video links is intimidating. And I actually have lots of time.

Huh? Nah Allah, I think people are distracted by the Beauchamp story.

Wait, the producers are facing police questioning for quoting these numbskulls? Man, Britain better turn things around real soon. Du Toit has a piece up on Brits bailing their homeland.

It’s time for another Fred-love post, so people can drool over him.

Regarding the video: It’s an Islamic Extremism apologist film, from an Islamic extremism network. I love how the reporter gives the benefit-of-the-doubt to the people who walk into a market, and blow themselves and innocent people up.

i think most people saw it yesterday AP. LGF had it and others. I think a lot of people have already seen it and talked it out.

The big things I took away was an increased appreciation of the Ummah and a reaffirmation that Europe has an enormous problem on their hands.

Dude, I’m watching it!

Regarding the Western journalist-chick who converted to Islam (clip 1): I’m wondering how long she thinks she can have it both ways; that is, convert to Islam and yet conduct her speeches like a Western woman. Are these Muslim men really cool with her “preaching” to them what Islam means? They may be, but I suspect this wouldn’t go over so well overseas.

(P.S. I do give Channel 4 credit for running The Great Global Warming Swindle.)

It was a good show which I watched yesterday at LGF. Among other items, they discuss attempts by the UK to redefine Islam and, not surprisingly, Muslims aren’t to keen about allowing the kuffar to alter their religion. Good luck with that, UK.

I got a kick out of the guy early in the first video that draws a bell curve and then designates portions representing Islamists who are either already a threat or could be within about a week. At the end of his presentation he says, “what we need to do is…” and moves the line of the bell curve out to the left, so that the population of Muslims no longer populates the extremists categories. Well, hey, it looks good on paper!

She’s a useful idiot. Simple as that, she’ll be used as long as she’s useful, then be discarded.

Ummah, Jerry Ummah

It’s kind of ridiculous to peg Channel 4 or Dispatches as somehow pro-Terrorist when it was this very network and show that brought us the undercover reporting from inside Green Lane Mosque, and helped to show people the truth behind Islam.

MadisonConservative on August 8, 2007 at 2:29 PM

Ummah… Oprah.. Oprah … Ummah.

matd on August 8, 2007 at 2:37 PM

In a strict theological sense, Ummah is comparable in definition as the Christian concept of the Body or Church of Christ. The expression of this concept though is where the difference is. One statement made concerning how people catch the cancer;

By not knowing the difference between their emotions and their reason.

That sounds kinda familiar.
