Why does every loud political gay person have to be, pardon the pun, straight out of a stereotype?

We ain’t all flaming queens who vote on only one issue…and I for one am sick of the vocal minority of gays who make the vast majority of us look silly…

I’m sure it’s true that you aren’t all like that; clearly people aren’t cookie cutter no matter their similar interests.

However, something’s bothered me. The first gay person I ever met, aside from girls in high school who wanted to be edgy by having a girlfriend, was nothing like the stereotypes. I would never have guessed in a million years that he was gay.

At the store, he acted very much like a straight man, but away from the store, he’d talk and in every way act the stereotype of a gay person. Why? Is it more attractive to gay men if a man speaks in a higher pitch? I thought being a gay man was all about liking men, but the stereotypical gay person doesn’t act like most men do at all.

I never understood why he would do that.

Also, an old roommate who studied speech pathology explained to me that men who talk that way often have to have surgery on their vocal cords, since they weren’t meant to be strained that way for so long.

I wish I still had a link to the article I read about 2 weeks ago. It had some great statistics on how Homosexual marriage declined very shortly after it was legalized in the few states that had it.
The basic gist of the article was that homosexuals really don’t want to get married, they just want to undermine the institution of marriage.

I really have no idea how the hell you get to that conclusion from that ‘evidence’. Could it be that those that wanted to get ‘married’ simply did so asap after the law was put into effect? Of course it went down shortly after it became law. Partners that wanted to make things ‘official’ wanted to jump at the chance as soon as they could.

As far as gays just wanting to ‘undermine’ marriage….you mean just out of spite or some kind of grudge? Seriously? Please tell me you aren’t that vapid.

Now don’t get me wrong, I have no problem with those that want to keep ‘unions’ to just straight people. In my view, it should continue to be up to each individual state. But hey, I’m just a traditionalist that actually believes in state’s rights and the intentions of the Constitution, so whatever. :-P

Same reason that there were black people in blackface back in the early part of the 20th century. It was apparently funny and unquestionably non-threatening.

I’ve met 1 fa-laming homosexual (to quote Homer) in my life, and that was during my second stint at university. I imagine it was an attempt to be an individual… Other than that, unless someone told me they were gay, I didn’t know.

And, if homosupport isn’t enough for you enlightened hipsters, Rudiani and Judiani can share wardrobe, which means WH savings and lower taxes for a middle-class already under fire.

Why even consider anyone else for the WH?

I totally agree with you, but I think the “acting” here was purposefully over the top to try and scare traditional GOP voters away from Rudy by being the in-your-face-we’re-here-we’re-queer personna so many expect from us gays.

I’ve never understood why democrats pander so hard to us gays anyway. It’s not like we’re a huge voting bloc anyways.

The line you quoted about no less than five domestic partners is a dead give away. They are playing on the “They wanna marry but can’t stay committed.”

In any event…I agree that it’s probably somewhere in between “serious” and “satire”…but my initial response that the vocal minority makes the rest of us look bad stands. There was a story recently about some San Diego (?) firefighters who, rightly, are suing for “harassment” over being forced to march in a Gay Pride parade…saying that when they previously had, they were constanly mocked with rude gestures, etc…

I hope people realize that is not who the vast majority of gays in this country are…sorry, just venting a little…
