William Amos on August 7, 2007 at 11:14 PM

Oh the horror. The horror of it all.

Kini on August 7, 2007 at 11:14 PM

That’s the problem, she is just a girl.

I thought the feminists banned that word “girl” years ago.

right2bright on August 7, 2007 at 11:15 PM

wow, just how much milage can Hillary get out of her fabricated “Right Wing Conspiracy machine” bs?
Almost every single conspiracy theorist I have ever seen or known is a liberal and most were socialist/communist.
She would rather fight fellow americans then jihadist. What a gal.

Wyrd on August 7, 2007 at 11:16 PM

… I’m your girl! (Giggles)

Sounds like Elizabeth Edwards’ comments on Hillary not being a woman have gotten to her, eh? She can call herself a “girl” all she wants, she’ll still never be as pretty as the Silkster.

RightWinged on August 7, 2007 at 11:20 PM

That smile at the end…those teeth…I will always think “constipated chipmunk” whenever she smiles.

Gonna sleep well tonight.

RushBaby on August 7, 2007 at 11:21 PM

This is a very fine line she is trying to walk. She has to appear tough, but yet retain her feminie side. Typical mistake of the lefty loons. Trying to fake your way to be something you are not. We all know what kind of female president we will vote for, and a shrill phony like Hillary ain’t it.

csdeven on August 7, 2007 at 11:22 PM

Umm, is it just me, or aren’t any of the YouTube vids loading on hotair just now?

Not that I really need to see Hillary again…blech…

JetBoy on August 7, 2007 at 11:24 PM

That giddy confidence and Cheshire cat grin will disappear the minute she has to answer hard questions and debate her Republican challenger face-to-face.

Then we’ll see the dear in the headlights.

ack…it’s a sevenload vid…just really slow to load…

it’s really time for beddy-bye….and think, it’s only more than another year of the campaign circus! Beer stocks are sure to go through the roof…

Some people will fall for anything. Right wing machine. Right wing conspiracy. Tomayto-Tomahto. Progressive-Liberal
Lets call the whole thing off

Yup. I haven’t seen THIS kind of gender ambiguity since SNL did the “Pat” skits. (If I remember correctly, it drove Christopher Walken to suicide. Hmmm. He does look like he’s been dead for some time now, doesn’t he?)

I’m glad that she finally identified herself as a “girl,” I guess.

You can’t help but laugh at Hillary and her Barbara Bush pearls when that was exactly the image she railed against back in the 90’s. Do i even need to mention that she did, in fact, end up “standing by her man”? Must be great to know that the media is on your side and you can contradict yourself time and time again knowing you’ll never be called on it.

Love her or hate her I’ll give her this. She is a quick learner and it is very obvious Bill is working hard with her. Take a step back and she seems almost … likeable.
There was an article at townhall or realclearpoltics that talked about her campaign team. Compared to the Bush campaigns of 2000 and 2004 for the discipline.

Discount her at your own risk!

Bradky on August 8, 2007 at 12:08 AM

The Democrats’ pool will put enough pressure on Hillary from the far left to make her mind manners. But she will maintain her pragmatic and centrist platform, while throwing bones to the Kos crowd.

She will be the superstar Democratic nominee.

From the ranks of the right will rise a man of immense mediocrity sent forth to make us look brittle and broken.

We will lose and the next 20 years of mounting liberalism will be our own damn fault.

So we may as well enjoy the mud slinging and ad hominems. In the end, that’s about all we’ll have left.

Oh yeah. Keithe Olbermann is a journalistic fraud.

Allahpundit on August 8, 2007 at 12:09 AM

Hillary is one terrible speaker. She is shaking her head almost the entire clip as she speaks. Gestures are stiff and unnatural. Bringing back the right-wing machine line is not a smart move. Using the word “girl” is simply pitiful.

Besides help with speaking she needs more fashion advice:

Get your hair done, girl. Look immaculate and well-groomed every time!

Get your nails done. They shouldn’t be garish, but they should look feminine.

Ditch those mannish suits. This is an especially awful color combination. Here is a close-up photo of Hillary. That black suit with narrow stripes drains her coloring, especially with that pale pink blouse. A gray feminine suit with a blouse that is a richer shade of pink would have worked better.

Please stop wearing jewelry that always matches your blouse. The jewelry just fades away. Contrast the jewelry with the top or jacket on which it lies or is pinned. Use it to pull the outfit together. Wear a brooch or a pin. Accessories really make you look finished.

You can dress as a lady and still be competent. I don’t think Hillary really believes that.

If she really wants people to know she’s a girl, perhaps Mrs. Clinton should wear skirts occasionally. I know lesbians who put on a dress more than she does. Hell, I live in Atlanta, most of the men in Midtown wear dresses more often than she does!

radjah shelduck on August 8, 2007 at 12:13 AM

Bradky on August 8, 2007 at 12:08 AM

Yeah, thanks for the heads up Bradky, but I think we’re okay… Her negatives (”would definitely not vote for her”) numbers are only lower than Newt’s, so she’s pretty much a sunken ship already as far as I’m concerned.

I can’t believe AP and The Race Card are ready to give in… if you truly believe that, why even blog anymore? If Hillary becomes POTUS, we’re completely screwed FOR A LONG TIME, if we ever recover… shouldn’t you be making plans to move to another country or living like it’s your last day, if you really believe she’s it?

Forget the “I’m your girl” bit… the real quote of the day should be the way she starts out: “I’m here because I think we need to change America.” That’s the problem with liberals — they want to change what America is to fit their world view rather than protect what it is and has been. They don’t see a nation governed for and by the people, but people living for and under the state!

Christoph, did you mean to say that Obama is stupid or that Rudy, Mitt or Fred are smart?

Entelechy on August 7, 2007 at 11:56 PM

I’m saying self-delusion is not a plan. Mitt as the next president? Get real.

Maybe one of the other two and it’s a long shot.

Hillary Clinton has a better than 90% chance of being the next Democratic Presidential nominee and, if she wins that, a 70% chance of being President.

And fortunately she seems to be able to learn and speak properly.

Christoph on August 8, 2007 at 1:23 AM

By the end of this election cycle the tedium will feel like ten tons of bricks on the shoulders of each and every American.

Which party has the most endurance?

Speakup on August 8, 2007 at 1:24 AM

She is frightening on many levels. However, IF the republicans regain Congress in 2010 (which I would think very likely if any of the current Dems are elected in ‘08 – especially Billary), I don’t think we will all have to buy ammo or move to another country. Plus, my dog can probably run for POTUS on the GOP ticket in 2010 and win handily against their record. We’ll have 4 years of Carteresque administration and then a Reaganesque landslide in 2012. Or is that overly optimistic?

deepdiver on August 8, 2007 at 1:25 AM

Hah! A united Democratic Party? They eat their own. They don’t have the moral standards to have that much integrity and discipline to remain united other than play acting, The American people will see right through that.

Egfrow on August 8, 2007 at 2:56 AM

That giddy confidence and Cheshire cat grin will disappear the minute she has to answer hard questions and debate her Republican challenger face-to-face.

Here’s the problem: when is she ever going to face a hard question? Who’s going to pose it to her? Certainly not anyone in the MSM. They will be her dutiful lapdogs, at least long enough to get her anointed.

She’s the nominee, and the only hope we have is that (1) the American public might ultimately balk at the prospect of four more years under someone named either Bush or Clinton; and (2) the Democrats are unable to successfully cheat should the actual vote tallies fall short.

With regard to (1), I’m afraid that it’s not going to work out that way, because too many people want to escape back into what they remember as they fantasy land that was the Clinton years, when surpluses fell from the skies and the interns were easy pickings. The impulse to bury their heads in the sand will be too strong for a lot of people, perhaps even a critical number of them.

As for (2), don’t kid yourself for a moment that they won’t try. All that hysteria from 2000 and 2004 about the Republicans stealing the election? It was all projection. They assumed we did because they would have (and, indeed, tried to themselves).

It’s going to be a terribly difficult uphill battle, and I’m not optimistic. So far none of the Republicans are resonating in any way that suggests a viable win. What, by the way, is Fred waiting for? It’s starting to get a little ridiculous.

My prediction: Hillary in a surprising landslide, for really stupid reasons. I then intend to spend the next four-eight years with my fingers crossed and my hand on my wallet.

The only consolation is that Hillary might not be as stupid as the other Democrats with regard to the war and the ongoing threat. She might have enough practical sense not to risk going full-blown Moonbat. It’s a long shot, but it might be our only hope.

I’m no happier writing this than you probably are reading it, either.

Sorry.

There is a cynical silver lining.

If the dems sweep ‘08, we’ll more than likely be finished as a nation in less than half that time.

At least we avoid the long term suffering.

BKennedy on August 8, 2007 at 5:09 AM

She wants to change America into an authoritarian socialist state. All those idiots who call George Bush a fascist don’t even know the meaning of the word and are members of a party Hitler and Mussolini would be right at home in.

peacenprosperity on August 8, 2007 at 6:42 AM

If you think Hillary can’t win in 2008, then you don’t understand what happened in 2006.

If the republicans don’t put up a strong candidate, then Hillary is it.

The news media has, for the last 60 years been so effective at smearing any republican with the sins of McCarthy, Nixon, and others, that any republican candidate will be perceived as a sour old pinch penny with an unsavory private life. Meanwhile, that same news media has been very effective at discounting the sins of their democrat pals, JFK, Teddy, Clinton, and others.

When you try to point this out to your democrat neighbors, they just can’t see it, because the left really does live in an alternate universe. The New Republic, Beauchamp story is a perfect example. The left believes what they believe because they have been programed to believe it, by the news media.

If the republican candidate can’t make the case for some sensible public policy, Hillary is in.

rockhauler on August 8, 2007 at 6:43 AM

I’ve not resigned myself to losing, and don’t really understand the pessimism (which will feed upon itself) given how utterly incompetent and wooden (in Mrs. Clinton’s case) the Dhimmicrats so obviously are. For all the mind-numbingly stupid liberals in the electorate there are also enough in the reasonable middle who will certainly balk at the prospect of sending back the Clintons, especially in wartime, and extra especially if we have the good sense to put someone like Giuliani up against her, who will joyously make confetti of her every disingenuous word.

On the contrary, folks – I’ve been feeling that 08 is ours to lose. This doom and gloom around here must come from too much MSM exposure…. ; )

You’re missing the point, I think. Hillary is relying on those people who want a united front against the Republicans. Republicans, in general, want Americans united against terrorists and rogue states. Democrats have a vastly different idea of who the enemy is.

JohnJ on August 8, 2007 at 9:08 AM

Kensington on August 8, 2007 at 3:20 AM

I have to agree with you on the remote possibility of Hillary getting any “hard questions”. It is unlikely since the MSM is an effective flank of her campaign team. Who knows, maybe Fox could slip in a tough one if the Dem candidate gathers the courage to face a moderator from that network.

But hope remains, because she will have to do battle with the Republican nominee eventually. If that nominee has a backbone and half an ounce of debating skills, he should have an opportunity to put Hillary’s feet to the fire, and expose her as a fraudulent wordsmith – in the mold of her tutor, Der Slickmiester.

If we had an honest, unbiasd media, she wouldn’t stand a chance of winning. If we suffer another attack here at home before the elections, she most likely will take a huge hit in the polls. It is for that reason I don’t expect any attacks before the next election. The jihad terrorists are pulling for their allies ….. the Dems.

desertdweller,
That line was not only rehearsed it was trimmed, tuned, and nuanced, and selected from alternates by an expensive team of consultants. It was delivered better than she could have six years ago. You think Bonds has a machine? Hillary is heading a well funded experienced political machine that won’t be stopped by denying its power in the election process.

Frequent comment
When will she get a hard question?

It doesn’t matter; she will always revert to canned speeches however irrelevant.

JohnJ,
You got it right. Hillary knows that the entire left side is united against President Bush. Her comment in the clip about changing was directed to that audience. As long as she says “change” all will agree with her. She is avoiding saying change to what, because that would lose votes.

Ah but don’t worry about her stated positions. She is just talking to get elected. Once POTUS she will act in her own best interest.

right2bright on August 7, 2007 at 11:15 PM

If that nominee has a backbone and half an ounce of debating skills, he should have an opportunity to put Hillary’s feet to the fire, and expose her as a fraudulent wordsmith – in the mold of her tutor, Der Slickmiester.

Yes, but remember what happened the last time a scenario like this played out: Hillary played the girl card, and the MSM circled the wagons around her whilst decrying her opponent as a bully.

Anyone comes close to drawing blood on Hillary, there’ll be round the clock coverage of this cad as a mysogynist bully and back to back, well-coordinated smear pieces designed to tell the public that Rudy/Mitt/Fred is afraid of a powerful woman. All the while, our next commander in chief will be acting like a demure bride in the 19th century.

And when the smears begin, the public will absorb it like a sponge because the GOP will be too frightened to fight back, like the total pussies they are.

I hate to say it, but the we really needed to come up with a woman candidate of our own who could deflect all the bs that will be soon be heading our way.

Is it too late to recruit Secretary Rice?

INC on August 8, 2007 at 12:27 PM

Kensington,

That campaign played out in NY. I do think things will be different in a general election.

I’ve seen several articles by Rasmussen on polling and one thing that has been said repeatedly is that Hillary’s numbers are stable and show little variation. Most people decided what they think of her years ago. She’s going to have to reach for the so-called independents to get up over 50%. Playing to the nutroots won’t help in a general election. All the R’s have to do is put together clips of Hill’s speeches to take her on.

INC on August 8, 2007 at 12:31 PM

Off topic, I know, but I just read an article in the NY Post
reporting that next Monday (and I’m not making this up!) Hillary will be in Vegas at the St. Rose Dominican Hospital where she will ‘do a stint’ as a shift nurse. OH LORD!!
Will the patients be allowed to make eye contact? Inquirung minds want to know. Just what sick people need – Hilary and her flunkies/minions/keepers roaming the corridors looking for a vote. So… all you posters from Vegas please stay healthy this weekend. Unless we find that she’s on bedpan duty at which case make sure to load up on the fiber!

Also doing their civic duty – BO is spending today with a healthcare working in California assisting with patient care and…. not to be outdone Ms. Edwards (not Elizabeth)
spent a day in a nursing home helping to care for the patients. (I assume trolling for clients is a more accurate description). Just when ya don’t think it can get any weirder!

Don’t tell the feminists that. They only time they think acting tough is feminine is if your’re “railing against the patriarchy” and in general emulating the absolute worst qualities men possess.

I like to sum up modern feminists this way: They have managed to emulate all the negative qualities of men while retaining none of the positive qualities of women.

The modern feminist is arrogant, pushy, unforgiving, cold, and emotionless (bar rage and anger, of course) while being fickle, snappy, cliquey, overly sensitive, and indignant.
