Hillary says that candidates shouldn’t engage in hypotheticals. What a dope. The whole campaign is hypotheticals. BTW, does that mean that Supreme Court nominees shouldn’t engage in hypotheticals also?

It makes me sad to say this, but the more of these debates I see, the more I realize that Hilliary! is the best of the worst. I love how she gets booed for effectivly saying how we should prevent al-qaeda (or however the hell you spell it) from taking over Pakistan. Those people in the crowd make me sick.

My favorite question in the debate was when a union worker who works for insulating buildings to make them energy efficient asked one of the candidates (Edwards, maybe?) that some of the corporations don’t want to make their buildings energy-efficient, and therefore don’t use his union’s services. So he wants to ask what he will do as President to help force companies to use energy-efficient insulation in their buildings. In other words, to force companies to hire him and his union to do work for them! If only I could force companies to use my services!!

so i did my drive-by observation and there’s nothing much to see around soldier feild, so i swung back around to that perpetual picket i mentioned earlier outside the congress hotel.

i spoke with an organizer named victorio who confirmed to me that not one of the candidates had joined their picket that day.

after that bizzarre and strident contest of picket envy, the candidates were each a no-show. one can possibly except edwards who showed up during ykos, but i think it’s most telling that MISTER LABOR, dennis kucinnich, isn’t nearly as authenticly committed to labor rights as his talk would suggest, while the one democratic who did make an appearance was the least authentic of the democratics, and did so as a photo-op last weekend for the benefit of the all-white, all-white-collar blogging community.

on another note, i was thinking further about the conspicuously missing illegal immigration question. the more i think about it, the more it seems likely that the question was scrubbed long prior to the event by the more radical labor factions like the seiu and “unite here”. i think these guys are creepier than obama or any of the candidates anyway.
