WaPo: Yearly Kos whiter than an NHL game at the North Pole during a snowstorm

Hard to improve upon Ace’s metaphor. No surprise here; the Billy Jeff/nutroots meet ‘n greet last year was a whites-only affair, too. But at least they try, unlike those nasty conservatives whose more diverse members end up being accused of turning tricks with ping-pong balls by the left’s edgiest outposts of edgy edginess.

Actually, they don’t even try. But Shillary seems to think they’re a reasonable proxy for liberals generally and I guess that’s enough for me.

A tribute, from Cracked magazine:

that he [Kos} served “during” the Gulf War… again, this is technically accurate, but leaves a completely different impression.

RightWinged on August 6, 2007 at 9:41 PM

Maybe he served drinks at a bar during the Gulf War.

MB4 on August 6, 2007 at 9:45 PM

As always, liberal hypocrisy is truly limitless. I think this situation deserves some YearlyKKKos photoshops. But look on the bright side–maybe this’ll help them get “Sheets” Byrd to come pander to them next year.

ReubenJCogburn on August 6, 2007 at 9:45 PM

Actually I seem to recall that Kos was stationed in Germany (considered dream duty by many) during the Gulf War.

MB4 on August 6, 2007 at 9:46 PM

Pot meet kettle.

Progressives, meet reality.

Thanks for the idea, fogw.

[CHEERS: WHISTLIN,G HOOPING AND A HOLLERING]

Welcome back Ya Blithering Metro Sexual!!

Apparently you are correct:

Given I don’t read blogs too much, but to expect there to be an overwhelming amount of minorities at a Chicago convention for bloggers is a bit insane.
Nonfactor on August 6, 2007 at 6:12 PM

We know that you don’t read them much.
Yeah…It’s that obvious… trust me.

Which is it, the above or this below:

I get a kick out of these posts, really.

Nonfactor on August 6, 2007 at 6:37 PM

Yeah… we do too. from your comments [rolling eyes].

but I do have a grasp on the world outside the internet.
Nonfactor on August 6, 2007 at 8:07 PM

Really? I thought you lived on these blogs
.

Oh.. on a side note.. how’s Keith Obermann doing?

Yeah.. yeah.. I know.. I know… only two worlds exist:

Yours and Keith Obermann’s.

Care to expound on your world?

I agree, however I can, on paper call myself a “Gulf War Vet” even though I do not deserve that title.

My first deployment to Saudi was in 1996 during Southern Watch.

Being part of Southern Watch qualifies me as being a “Gulf War Vet” (IMO I am a Gulf War Vet on paper only).

If Markos really thought he was a “Gulf War Vet” I would expect him/liberals to use it as his “moral authority card” and see it all over his bio.

F15Mech on August 6, 2007 at 10:52 PM

I think the term you are looking for is ‘Snow White’.

CrazyFool on August 6, 2007 at 11:05 PM

On KOS: He trained at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma…

I’m personally disgusted this troll ever visited my state, but even more disgusted that a former member of the armed forces would turn out to be such a lying POS.

Don’t be too upset.

I trained at Ft. Sill! That’s where I got MB4 (”The Hill”).

BTW, so did Tommy Franks.

Think how Tommy and I must feel.

MB4 on August 6, 2007 at 9:46 PM

He was, which is why it’s so objectionable that he tries to use the served “during” wording to give himself credibility.

F15Mech on August 6, 2007 at 10:52 PM

I suppose you could make that “Gulf War Vet on paper” case, but it’s still completely different than Kos, who it doesn’t sound like went anywhere near the region or the conflict, and the fact that he’s deliberately misleading people so that he can speak with authority as a Vet who’s fought in Iraq. That’s clearly what this is all about.

If Markos really thought he was a “Gulf War Vet” I would expect him/liberals to use it as his “moral authority card” and see it all over his bio.

Oh no, he knows he isn’t a “Gulf War Vet”, but he does try to use his service for “absolute moral authority”, but as has been documented he says he served “during” the Gulf War, to mislead people… because even though he was in Germany, he can’t be busted for lying because he was serving there “during” the war. It’s not a knock against him by any means that he wasn’t “in theater”, the point is that he likes to pretend he was without saying it. He knows if he were to hype it to much and add it to his bio, he’d be busted in a second… so he tricks journalists with the word “during”, and no one asks any questions and shazzam he’s painted a picture that he served in Iraq in the Gulf War, and gets to say “but I never said that!” if anyone challenges him.

So again, I think it’s 50/50 that he used his “during” phrase with WaPo, because he has a history of doing it. It’s not that serving in the capacity he did wasn’t honorable, it’s that he’s trying to mislead people to paint a picture of himself that isn’t accurate. But again, it’s WaPo’s duty to fact check, whether he lied to them/mislead them or not. (By the way, still no correction at WaPo)

Do you people ever think of stuff you DON’T eventually say? Or is that synapse broken?

Nonfactor, you certainly lived up to your name in this thread.

Allah smoked you like a joint.

moc23 on August 7, 2007 at 9:38 AM

nonfactor claiming he’s from LA is almost like Markos claiming to be a Gulf War Vet. Not exactly as bad, but almost, and here’s why. Many folks, when you say “Los Angeles”, have a certain impression in their mind of a certain place, universally based on TV or movie scenes. But while Compton and Inglewood and Boyle Heights DO exist, LA also includes Woodland Hills, Westlake Village, and Burbank, all of which are “slightly” less diverse than South Pasadena or East LA.

Anyway, on topic, he really doesn’t get it, does he? It isn’t what you “claim” to support that proves you care, it’s what really happens in life that SHOWS where your passions lie. The Kossacks are all words, empty words, and their yearly confab does nothing to indicate otherwise.

You’re so in touch with racial issues, AP!

Nonfactor on August 6, 2007 at 5:48 PM

What racial issues?

Connie on August 7, 2007 at 1:14 PM

Republicans will elect a black US President before Democrats will. And when they do, they will expect excellence and ideological parity.

The Race Card on August 6, 2007 at 8:09 PM

Is this kind of like how everyone here thought Michael Steele was going to win in a landslide?

Nonfactor on August 6, 2007 at 8:18 PM

Nonfactor, since you live in LA and few here live in MD it’s easy to be wrong about that one…MD doesn’t elect Pubs except RINOs. Only ‘locals’ would know the details.

But I see you attempted to quell every response to you. Can you not leave well enough alone? Do you have to have the last word? Are you in reality a ‘nonfactor’ & want to feel better about yourself? Huh? Huh? Huh?

Miss_Anthrope on August 7, 2007 at 2:08 PM

Waiting for your response…

Miss_Anthrope on August 7, 2007 at 2:09 PM

Didn’t DailyKos ban a Black guy after commenters called him a monkey on his diary? This guy I think

Rob Taylor on August 7, 2007 at 3:09 PM

If not in Chicago, then where?

Jaibones on August 6, 2007 at 8:20 PM

You guys are getting a little obtuse. Take a poll of the people in Chicago who knew about the YearlyKos. Then take a poll of the people who would want to pay to visit it. And then see how many of those people are minorities. The fact that you guys are expecting the crowd to be full of minorities contain even a handful of minorities is a bit surprising.

Nonfactor on August 6, 2007 at 8:24 PM

Really. Why surprising?

Are you saying minorities are not aware of the Kos empire, or are too cheap to spend money in pursuit of their fervent dreams?

More importantly, what is the correct way for us to savage you over this travesty of exclusiveness and shameless lack of diversity? Please, let us know what kind of savagery and demagoguery you’re expecting so we don’t throw you too far off-balance when we follow through.
