Putting Gore and various fey British pop stars out in front is like signing up Bush and Cheney to spearhead an African anti-poverty drive: the left may agree with the cause with they’ll be too busy dry heaving at the thought of making common cause with the Chimperor to donate. Prune away the loathsome Hollywood faddishness and unserious hippie subculture that too often surrounds the issue, be prepared to make a few hard concessions (the most critical of which Newt identifies here), and you’ll find plenty of righties willing to play ball.
