Nice subtitle on the main page…really nice.

…okay…am I missing something? Not sure what what…I mean…wow. Quite the non-sequitor.

Well….

Just think, AP.

Yeah, It’s like I would like to say I am speechless, but I can’t find the words.

TheSitRep on August 5, 2007 at 10:10 PM

Are we to think the dems going to Kos is any different than some Conservatives going to Bob Jones University?

She is dead on right. The majority of Dems will support whatever creature comes out of primaries. Those that don’t will not consider the Kos thing as a reason for their decision.

D-Kos is just barely above the DU as far as political influence is concerned.

Pilgrim on August 5, 2007 at 10:11 PM

Nice subtitle on the main page…really nice.

I’m filled with heart-ache!

Heh. I changed it to something slightly more mild.

Allahpundit on August 5, 2007 at 10:12 PM

Well as a consulation, you’re in with the in crowd so tag along with MM for her next speach and hit up some conservative college babe. But you’ll have to reveal yourself or . . . . Allah Kent, maybe?

MirCat on August 5, 2007 at 10:14 PM

Kirsten is right. What Democratic candidate does this hurt? Those who would vote the Democratic ticket would do so regardless. I’m unsurprised when my favorite Republican candidates pander to the religious right. I would likely vote for them anyway – despite their obvious pandering. I don’t see the difference.

Allahpundit on August 5, 2007 at 10:12 PM

She might have had her feelings hurt had she seen it phrased just so – though, even with the new caption she will know that the Big A has slipped through her fingers. She’s going to hurt.

nailinmyeye on August 5, 2007 at 10:19 PM

Agreed, I think she’s bang on. I mean, ok, technically speaking it’s wrong when BOTH sides court the extreme wings of their particular political spectrum. However, realistically, this has been going on for a long, LONG time, and isn’t likely to stop. So why pick on the Dems for courting KOS, and ignore the Republicans pandering to the ultra-religious right? That’s just plain hypocritical.

c6gunner on August 5, 2007 at 10:21 PM

Seriously, though — Hillary snubs the DLC to pander to the Kos cretins and this is the best Powers can come up with? If it’s so important to woo all wings of the party, where the hell was Hillary last week when the centrists were having their “national conversation” in DLC? And when exactly did “courting liberals” require a mandatory appearance at the nutroots jamboree? Didn’t Hillary do enough to court liberals at the Take Back America conference last month? Is she going to appear at every liberal event from now until next November?

I don’t know if this Powers shilling for Hillary or just holding her tongue for whatever reason, but it’s sad.

Allahpundit on August 5, 2007 at 10:21 PM

Well, here,s what i got after i dececphered what
she said. She said liberals three times and
right wingers three times,so i quess it,s a tie.

radjah shelduck on August 5, 2007 at 10:23 PM

but why let the left get away with pandering to their nuts when they went all out during the last election to attack the right ?

tit for tat isnt the best solution to most of lifes problems but it is something that the dems understand.

Just means allah is the puddy”tat” to Kirsten

William Amos on August 5, 2007 at 10:23 PM

Or I meant to say that allah is just “puddy” in her hands heh

William Amos on August 5, 2007 at 10:24 PM

c6gunner on August 5, 2007 at 10:21 PM

What is your definition of ultra-religious right?

And then what would be an example of such pandering?

Just wondering…

Kirsten is right. What Democratic candidate does this hurt?

Yes, she’s right that this won’t hurt them next year. But like Bill says, they’re pandering to their nuts and Powers is blessing it with her silence. I slapped Newt when he pandered egregiously to Falwell’s university. Not a peep from KP when Hillary parrots the feeble “right-wing noise machine” crap to the “screw them” crowd, though, huh?

Allahpundit on August 5, 2007 at 10:32 PM

I don’t know if this Powers shilling for Hillary or just holding her tongue for whatever reason, but it’s sad.

Allahpundit on August 5, 2007 at 10:21 PM

I think, either she thinks its a good idea for the candidates to go to Kos, or she is playing politics. Like you said, shilling for Hillary. If she is invested in a Hillary presidency, then she would need to downplay her involvement with Kos.

nailinmyeye on August 5, 2007 at 10:32 PM

The Far left is further from the middle than the Far Right. We should to highlight the kind of freaks that the Left panders to. We shouldn’t let them set the rules on this one – we need to fight if we are going to win in 08.

Dork B. on August 5, 2007 at 10:33 PM

Kirsten is wrong. It will come back the hurt whoever gets the Democrat nomination. They still might win the general election in spite of it, but pandering to the tin foil hat crowd is a bad move.

The people in the middle decide national elections and most of them don’t fit the Kos mold.

forest on August 5, 2007 at 10:34 PM

I’ll have to go find whatever it was I was reading this morning, but one article said that there was a total of 1,500 attendees at YearlyKos.

If there were 15,000 I might be a bit more worried.

There. Sorry for posting my rough draft.

Dork B. on August 5, 2007 at 10:34 PM

Well if you go to her Blog she’s not to far off from the KOS crowd. Notice the Cheney pic and its caption.

- The Cat

P.S. It was because she’s hot and that’s it. Face it Allah, you were thinking with the lil guy.

MirCat on August 5, 2007 at 10:36 PM

You know what the saddest part of this clip is? After insisting for so long that the nutroots are a fringe movement who don’t speak for the majority of Democrats, she’s reduced here to basically legitimizing them. When do we hear from Joe Lieberman about how sorry he is that he couldn’t attend?

Allahpundit on August 5, 2007 at 10:39 PM

MirCat on August 5, 2007 at 10:36 PM

After looking over her blog, which I haven’t visited for a while, it looks a little like her choice in guest/co-bloggers isn’t all that far removed from dKos. You’re right, the Cheney pic with caption is kind of out there – more like something I’d see on a tabloid site.

nailinmyeye on August 5, 2007 at 10:42 PM

Now you had to have known she didn’t believe that. It’s like an Imam saying that Jihadists are a fringe group . . that’s been waging war since ummm How long ago was Thomas Jefferson? And even before.

Allahpundit on August 5, 2007 at 10:32 PM

I’ll cede that point to you. She’s narrowing in on a single point to cherry-pick an argument she can win. Still, the principal behind this one argument is hard to argue with.

thedecider on August 5, 2007 at 10:43 PM

I’m confused; what was the subtitle before it was changed?

lorien1973 on August 5, 2007 at 10:44 PM

Heh. I changed it to something slightly more mild.

Dang I missed it! Anyone want to clue me in?

She’s probably right tho’ frankly. I’d like to think it would hurt them, but they are legitimize by the weight of all the Dem candidates going there first of all, and secondly the average non-blog reader doesn’t know Kos and what you don’t know isn’t going to affect your vote.

Spirit of 1776 on August 5, 2007 at 10:45 PM

I hereby formally rescind her “KP” appellation. Henceforth on HA she shall be known as “Shillary.”

Allahpundit on August 5, 2007 at 10:46 PM

she’s reduced here to basically legitimizing them. When do we hear from Joe Lieberman about how sorry he is that he couldn’t attend?

Allahpundit on August 5, 2007 at 10:39 PM

Someone needs to remind her that Joe Lieberman ran as an independent without appealing to the Ko’s.

Saying they don’t matter .. then switches tone saying well yeah they are democrats….

Just shows how difficult it is to be a liberal

However AP.. I do understand the attraction.

Life is tough.

Mcguyver on August 5, 2007 at 10:51 PM

Heh. Shillary. It really is over.

What does this mean about your previous prediction that at some point KP Shillary would come over to our side? Didn’t, at one point, you declare the conversion complete?

nailinmyeye on August 5, 2007 at 10:53 PM

What does this mean about your previous prediction that at some point KP Shillary would come over to our side?

Fair point. I admit defeat. After this, we don’t want or need her anyway.

lorien1973 on August 5, 2007 at 10:44 PM

This is what you missed in the title:

A I-can’t-believe-I-liked-you-that-way moment.

Mcguyver on August 5, 2007 at 10:54 PM

Memories of better days:

I’m going to go ahead and declare it. A little early, I know, and our side doesn’t have the best track record with this sort of thing, but I think her conversion is, for all intents and purposes, complete. And so I declare:

Ironically, note the photo under those words…I’m sorry man.

nailinmyeye on August 5, 2007 at 10:58 PM

I hereby formally rescind her “KP” appellation. Henceforth on HA she shall be known as “Shillary.”

Alas, I, alone, am left to speak up for Shillary. DON’T DISAPPOINT ME SHILL. It’s getting really lonely here in your corner. And kinda dark…and I’m cold.

thedecider on August 5, 2007 at 10:58 PM

I just want to understand some of you.

I think everyone knows I consider myself part of the “relgious right.” So am I the rightwing equivalent of the KosKids??? Am I as extreme and nutty on the right as they are on the left? Do I say hate filled things on a daily basis on line, but to the right????

Because that is what you are basically saying. And I reject it. Totally.

Rightwingsparkle on August 5, 2007 at 10:59 PM

So, Shillary has surrendered to the dark side of the Force. Too bad.

Yeah, I’m a little surprised no one’s taken issue with that. The guy who tipped me to this clip was most upset about that part of it.

In fairness to Shillary, I don’t think she’s equating the religious right with the Kossacks in moral terms but in terms of political power.

Allahpundit on August 5, 2007 at 11:01 PM

You know what the saddest part of this clip is?

For me it was the haughty laughing dismissal.

Melba Toast on August 5, 2007 at 11:05 PM

I do agree with RightWingSparkle. I was waiting for someone else to turn this religiously.

No, I don’t agree with the equivalence of Kos Kids with the religious right. And, I’m not so sure she’s talking in terms of political power. She is talking about distance from the center – basically saying, “hey, people campaign to the extremes on both sides.” The problem is that there is a difference, in my mind, between the sides.

nailinmyeye on August 5, 2007 at 11:06 PM

Allah,

The truth of the matter is there is no “right” equivalent to the KosKids. Look at their numbers. Look at their opinions! You can go to LGF and find some hateful comments, but there is simply no comparison to the filth and vile that is spewed on Kos every single day.

The “religious right” might have the same power on our side, but you cannot compare the actual people. Disagree with the religious right all you wish, but we are not hate filled little foul mouthed anti-Americans. I refuse the label “extremist.” Kindness is a non-partisan expression, is it not? Well, I see a lot of it on the religous right side, and not much on the Kos side.

Rightwingsparkle on August 5, 2007 at 11:07 PM

That’s certainly true of the people on the religious right that I know but you’re a little more confident than I am that it’s sweepingly true. Falwell and Robertson have had some mighty Kos-ian moments in their time.

Allahpundit on August 5, 2007 at 11:10 PM

It seems good for better candidates to try to persuade even stupid people to vote for them. It seems bad for bad candidates to try to persuade anyone to vote for them, but especially the stupid, whom they’re more likely to persuade.

It never ceases to amaze me that some people cannot only date but marry liberals. Me, I can’t even have them as close friends anymore.

Blake on August 5, 2007 at 11:11 PM

This is much ado about nothing, unless you think because she is on Fox, she is a Republican consultant. She reading the political tea leaves and answering the question straight. What more do you want? For her to interject some righteous indignation?

In primaries the Dems swing left, and usually the Reps swing right. In the general they come to the center.

Spirit of 1776 on August 5, 2007 at 11:13 PM

One more thing. How am I extreme? Is it extreme to work hard, marry, stay married, have children, raise them to be loving caring indiviuals, go to Church, and love my country? To care about the unborn? To care about national security? To care about govt. waste, and social security being there for future generations?

I’ve never been arrested, never done drugs, I always paid my taxes, done tons of charity work, given to charity my whole life. I vote every single time. I’m a kind loving friend, daughter, sister, and mother.

Someone tell me how the hell I am extreme?

Rightwingsparkle on August 5, 2007 at 11:14 PM

Falwell and Robertson have had some mighty Kos-ian moments in their time.

Allahpundit on August 5, 2007 at 11:10 PM

True. I think it is unfortunate that the caricature of the religious right is taken from the likes of Falwell, Robertson, and Dobson. A few guys stick their foots in their mouths more often than average people, on big things, and we get stuck with their image for a long time. Their own words, much publicized, end up overshadowing whatever good they have done.

I guess I just have to ask whether with dKos, is it a few muddying things for the many, or, is it paradigmatic of the group?

nailinmyeye on August 5, 2007 at 11:15 PM

After all that the Dems. have gotten away with over the last seven years with help from the msm, there really is nothing that surprises me. Durbin calls our our gitmo. guards nazis, Sandy Berger steals natl. arch. docs., Reid says we lost in Iraq, etc. Hillary could say she is a lesbian fascist who wants to dominate the world while riding a purple unicorn, and all the KPs in the press would say hillary is just trying to get her base.

Spirit of 1776 on August 5, 2007 at 11:39 PM

Spirit of 1776 on August 5, 2007 at 11:39 PM

oh no. I’m saying that the candidates visit to kos land will NOT change the script. The narrative has been written and KP is playing her part as they all do and will. Many times, when a big wig dem. said something, or the party as a whole voted one way, I have thought, “this should do it; this should sway it our way, and quickly.” But then every pundit plays the game, and in one news cycle it’s lost, except on talk radio and on the web. It really is amazing to watch

nailinmyeye on August 5, 2007 at 11:15 PM

I think that it is the few muddying the Democrats at large. Aside from the obvious ideological differences of the right I think that compared to the far right, the Dkos supporters are by and large much wealthier and influential in the media. The democratic candidates are almost compelled to give them lip service.
Just an opinion as to what the factors may be.

As for Allah’s dilemma I suppose he could consider a Carville-Matalin type arrangement… (just kidding)

Bradky on August 5, 2007 at 11:48 PM

The idea that one of the leading candidates would bow before a group whose leader, looking upon the images of his fellow countrymen hanged and burned, wrote “screw them”, is almost too much to take in. And yet in less than a month no one will remember this trip that the dems made to the swamp.

2) The DailyKOS is really the middle of the Democratic party right now.
bnelson44 on August 6, 2007 at 12:08 AM

I think that that is true, but man! does it not creep you out to type that? Really, with your observation there, plus all that has been said and done, I am still amazed that the dems. can pull over 46% of the country…it really, really is amazing.

All the bad ones are, man…all the bad ones are.

Someone tell me how the hell I am extreme?

Rightwingsparkle on August 5, 2007 at 11:14 PM

You’re extremely nice.

You’re extremely opposite from dKos.

We’re extremely happy for that RWS.

My liberal friends can’t help themselves. They come for more ‘punishment’, over and over. I love to lead them to defend the indefensible.

As Mr. Bush would say “KP, nice looking lady, was always misoverestimated”.

And yet in less than a month no one will remember this trip that the dems made to the swamp latrine.

AP or anyone else… Please help me out with something. Last year there was a young woman, I think her name was Bethany? Anyway, she did a couple of Vents for the Boss and then like history, she was gone. What happened to her, can’t find her sight, I think she shut it down.

My point is she was cute as a lamb, perhaps a little to religious for AP, but who knows, could happen??? I guess I am trying to play cupid tonight.

Falwell and Robertson have had some mighty Kos-ian moments in their time.

Allahpundit on August 5, 2007 at 11:10 PM

Just so, but the thing that many accidentally/on purpose forget about the Protestant Christianity which those two claim to believe in is that it’s very un-hierarchical and, therefore, the two only represent/represented a small portion of it.

You might say that Protestantism is the very model of diversity.

OT: Fox and Friends is only worth watching on Saturdays and Sundays; and the weekend version is only worth watching for two reasons: Greg Kelly and Kelly Wright.

She didn’t look a day over 18?

CharlestonCritic on August 6, 2007 at 12:56 AM

heartbreak for AP

whatever happened to the cutie who was doing a vid blog, and would sometimes appear on hotair?

jediwebdude on August 6, 2007 at 1:00 AM

Those who would vote the Democratic ticket would do so regardless.

thedecider on August 5, 2007 at 10:16 PM

Good point. Most of the people I know who vote Democrat don’t have a clue who/what Kos is. They just follow the lefty crowd, swallow the talking points propaganda and never bother to think for themselves.

infidel4life on August 6, 2007 at 1:18 AM

She’s right.

One difference between Republicans and Democrats is that the vast majority of Democrats cannot admit (often, even to themselves) what they really believe in, and are forced to use all kinds of obfuscating language just to appear somewhat sane and somewhat American. Kos isn’t really the fringe – Kos is what they really are.

It’s only the smokescreens of “social justice” “human rights” “peace” “equality” bla bla bla that keep the Democratic party viable. Kos is helping tear down those smokescreens by revealing the Marxist hatred of American freedom that is the true heart of the modern Democrat party. This is a good thing. The more Democrats feel comfortable revealing who they really are, the easier it will be to deal with them.
