Now that the surge is turning things around, the money that Jason Alexander sent to Frankin, will have to be used elsewhere.

I know.

Also pretty sad that supporting the troops could be seen by some as negative. I know this is repetitive, but just felt a need to say it.

I think you're on to something here. Anyone have the skinny on bats vs. loons as far as brains go? Aren't bats generally regarded as pretty smart, adaptable, physically capable creatures? I don't know about loons, but the name tells me they are regarded as dumb.

Moon Loons...hmmmm.

Coleman's a mixed bag. I sent him money to help get him elected back a few years ago even though I'm a thousand miles away from his district. I'm not sure if that was money wasted or money well sent.

Kind of like McCain, Coleman seems to be on the wrong side about half the time. When he is good, he is superb. When he is wrong, he is dismal.

As far as the commercial being used to attack Coleman? I'm like the caveman.... Uh, What? Any sensible to undecided person would see it as a positive... Only the Code Pinko types would see it as a negative, and they are already planning to vote for that moon-loon* Frankin.

*Bats have been disparaged enough with the term moonbats. I'm gonna start using moon-loon instead, for a while.

As a Minnesota Conservative who voted for Coleman, let me say that Coleman has done some good in his first term, and I will be voting for him again. He's gone a bit squirrelly on some votes, but he's still better than any Democrat or Franken who has gone completely insane. He's the Dems Ron Paul-not a chance in the world he could get elected, even in purple state Minnesota.
As for supporting the war on terror, in Iraq and elsewhere-I support all of our efforts to protect ourselves from terrorists, whether in Iraq, Iran,Detroit or New York City.
I feel that any Republican who breaks with the President over the War should be voted out in the next election.
Semper Paratus.

Hey! Maybe I am having some influence on some of the Republican candidates after all.

No, probably not, they are figuring it out for themselves.

"Four months ago, Giuliana delivered a vigorous defense of the commander-in-chief to a Texas audience that included the president's father. In April 21 remarks at Texas A&M University, in College Station, Giuliani predicted the younger Bush's approach would yield ``an overwhelming victory against terrorism.''

Today Giuliani, 63, says the administration's fixation on Iraq has been a distraction in the war against global jihadism. In a July 19 interview with USA Today, he said efforts to battle al-Qaeda and Taliban fighters in Pakistan and Afghanistan are suffering because ``America is too consumed by Iraq.''

Former Tennessee Senator Fred Thompson, who voted to give the president war authorization in October 2002 and has yet to formally announce his candidacy, has also changed his tone. ``I would do essentially what the president is doing,'' he told Fox News when asked in March what he would do in Iraq.

In a June 19 speech in London, Thompson, 64, hit a different chord. ``Political realism is back in the ascendancy since the difficulties in Iraq,'' he said. ``We [not to include Bush I would add] have learned that geography, history, and ethnicity are important factors to consider in making decisions regarding today's enemies.''

The exception among Republican presidential contenders is Arizona Senator John McCain, 70, who is as closely tied to the war as the president is; he continues to strongly support the president's policy."

Allah, I don't think this ad will turn Minnesota voters away from Norm Coleman. Only the fringe left would watch that ad and think Norm Coleman has to go, and we know their mind is already made up. For "normal" voters, a postive ad from a veterans group isn't going to hurt Coleman by association. A few negative TV spots might do the trick, though.

Yeah. In this case it's called Iran. November '08 is still a long way away.

This is Franken's answer to what? American heroes stating they are ok with being in that battlefield, willing to go the distance?

Ap - I understand your point in a way...but this can do nothing but help their effort. That is unless, of course, you are a lefty troll ( not you AP, the ppl who re receiving this message ).

The more that most Republicans are tied to Bush in general and the Iraq mess in particular the better it is for dems in 2008.

They should send a nice thank you card to VFF.

Great to know we're in a mess, not a war. Hope you get a nice thank you card from Abu Ayyub al-Masri one day.

Well, to voters it’s a bad thing. That’s why they’re highlighting it. They want Minnesota voters to associate Coleman with the war. This ad does a bang-up job of helping to do that.

Finally, a chance to use the team word!

"Nuance"

Talk about a weird way to get your message out: there's a series of sober, respectable American military veterans who served in Iraq, all praising Coleman for his position, and it's supposed to work against him, and the nutroots attack the ad and try to get it removed from YouTube.

If that isn't nuance by Marshall, I don't know what is.

In a SurveyUSA tracking poll 5 months ago, Coleman defeated Franken by 22 points. Today, also SurveyUSA, Coleman defeats Franken by 7.

Franken for GOD's sake!
