Awesome: British PM meets Scotland’s greatest hero

posted at 12:20 pm on August 3, 2007 by Allahpundit

He wanted to thank him personally for settin’ about ‘em. Money: “This is a very brave man and a very courageous man and I think the whole country owes John a debt of gratitude.”

Update: “When the law falls, we all fall.”

Blowback

“…I think the whole country owes John a debt of gratitude.”

And a pint or two.

What’s up with that! Take 2….

I think the whole country owes John a debt of gratitude.”

And a pint or two.

10 bucks says 85% or more of people who watched that video couldn’t understand a word of that wonderful Scottish brogue.

MadisonConservative on August 3, 2007 at 12:39 PM

That’s right, John, brilliant. While you’re at it, feel free to “put the boot in” the PM there.

Lazarus on August 3, 2007 at 12:39 PM

Jihad Gets A Beatin’ from Smeaton!

A yard of ale for John on me.

Freedom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

profitsbeard on August 3, 2007 at 12:42 PM

He is speaking Scottbonics.

Why is it that England’s new PM looks so much like Monty Python’s Terry Jones?

thejackal on August 3, 2007 at 12:43 PM

thejackal-

Why…?

They eat the same blood pudding.

profitsbeard on August 3, 2007 at 12:47 PM

1400 pints, let’s see, that is
116.66666666666666666666666666667
days worth of beer.

TheSitRep on August 3, 2007 at 12:47 PM

When I read the healine I thought we were talkin’ about William Wallace, Andrew DeMornay or Robert Bruce.

Oh, you meant Scotland’s greatest LIVING hero! Alright, carry on then. But don’t forget the Scots who ran a bayonet charge against Mookie’s militia in Iraq!

Free pints for all the above! ALBA GO BRAUGH!

It will take a Monty Python Alumni to get his ‘mind around’ the current state of affairs in the Empire.

sonnyspats1 on August 3, 2007 at 12:56 PM

Great Scot!

I think it’s because it is Terry Jones. One day soon I’m hoping they’ll admit to it just being a comedy skit and the real PM will step out of his closet.

Aylios on August 3, 2007 at 1:02 PM

I love that man! Men like him are the reason that I still have hope for the world.

Ellen on August 3, 2007 at 1:28 PM

Love this guy, love his accent. I just hope all this attention hasn’t been too much for the bloke

Keli on August 3, 2007 at 1:33 PM

Aha! I just noticed how Smeato is eyeing PM Brown’s hand as though it were a Hannibal Lecter delicacy.

Another conspiracy theory floated!

(I have way too much time on my hands.)

thejackal on August 3, 2007 at 1:44 PM

I miss Smeato’s handsome orange vest.

RushBaby on August 3, 2007 at 2:56 PM

Could those two people look any less pleased to be standing next to each other?

Apeking on August 3, 2007 at 3:01 PM

Fantastic accent. I haven’t had a glass of whisky in almost a week, but I bet I could understand more of what the guy was saying after a wee dram (or two).

In this video he appears to be handling the publicity much better. I like the part where he says he is getting his head around it.

Of course, in the photo with the PM he looks like he would rather be back in Glasglow tipping a pint.

Helloyawl on August 3, 2007 at 5:05 PM

‘I didn’t think about it,’ I just ran up and kicked him in the hoo-hahs. Heh…

TinMan13 on August 3, 2007 at 5:38 PM

Folks, I’m in love. :)
A Brave Scot man…the only thing missing for me is the kilt.

Good on ya, Smeato, Lad! If you’d like to come for a wee trep to the States, let me know.

Even Batman has to take the cape and cowl off sometimes…

Did anyone catch the name of his home town? He mentioned it in the middle of the interview during the whole pint tale, and I couldn’t understand it.
