Go figure, huh? Well, in fairness, they’ve been waiting for years for another big terror attack to blame on the Bushitler’s warmongering. This may be as close as they get. Here’s Rhodes, presumably sans gunshot effects, here’s Cafferty, and here’s audio from John Gibson’s radio show featuring dramatic readings of some of the nutroots’ greatest hits. The problem has existed for decades but Billy Jeff skates despite the fact that he had plenty of extra cash and nothing particularly pressing on his agenda for eight years that would have stopped him from tackling it. I guess that’s why we need Hillary now.
Exit question: Maybe when they say “blame Bush,” they mean the first Bush?
Update: Good news — 20 other major bridges are in even worse shape.

Bush Derangement Syndrome is spread by the electioneering.
I blame Algore.

Of course they try to make the logical leap that if the money wasn’t spent on the WOT, it would naturally been spent on infrastructure. As AP pointed out, not the case during BJ’s tenure.
I would bet Murtha’s pork projects alone could repair many, many, many bridges. If the infrastructure needs repair the money is there if they want to do the right thing an allocate it. First, Congress has to go on a muslim diet: pork free.

Boosh made it hot in Minnesota by not signing the Kyoto “treaty”!
How badly is Chertoff’s gut hurting these days?
SouthernGent on August 2, 2007 at 8:53 PM
I suppose we can blame Bush for unrequited love and male pattern baldness as well…
packsoldier on August 2, 2007 at 8:54 PM
I suppose blaming Bush is easier than asking about new/proposed stadiums for the Twins or Vikings.

I blame Global Warming. Levy said global warming is the new “Dog Ate my Homework” on Red Eye once right?
Therefore, I blame Global Warming and Bush. Since Bush controls the weather, right?
Who’s with me????

Let’s take “the devil made me do it” out of our vocabulary and replace it with “Dubya made me do it”. After all, deep down, don’t we realize everything is his fault?
thedecider on August 2, 2007 at 9:09 PM
I think I heard the bridge was 40 years old. That would put the building of it back in Carters Presidency. We need hearings.
JellyToast on August 2, 2007 at 9:12 PM
Huh? 2007 - 40 = 1967. And LBJ was still in office. You’re about ten years off…
eanax on August 2, 2007 at 9:20 PM
The collapse of the bridge can be traced to Kevin Bacon.
frankj on August 2, 2007 at 9:23 PM
Aren’t we spending only 4% of GDP on The War in Iraq?
However, I can blame Boooosh and Pawlenty for allowing all of those Illegal Aliens driving unecessarily over those bridges and putting unecessary stress on our whole infrastructure in general. Boooosh didn’t cause this bridge to collapse, IT’S A TRAGEDY! Stop bitching and help out!!!!
DfDeportation on August 2, 2007 at 9:29 PM
Maybe we can move that “bridge to nowhere” from Alaska a little south and east and take care of this.
P.S. I heard that Bush kidnapped the Lindbergh baby too!!!
Tennessee Dave on August 2, 2007 at 9:33 PM
Oh, do not confuse them with facts. It throws them off their game…
eanax on August 2, 2007 at 9:35 PM
Cafferty is a brain dead moron who could only exist on CNN. I hope nobody takes this fool seriously.
rplat on August 2, 2007 at 9:40 PM
Somebody please correct me if I am wrong, but isn’t threatening the President a criminal offense. And if so, why isn’t Ms. Rhodes in jail?
Claimsratt on August 2, 2007 at 9:45 PM
Last night, half kidding, I said to someone watch the lefties will try and blame this on Bush. Well, I said half kidding.
PowWow on August 2, 2007 at 9:56 PM
No Claimstratt you are not wrong. Ms. Rhodes should be arrested and charged with threatening the President of the United States and I just got off the phone with the Secret Service alerting them to this blog and to her big mouth. I truly hope they will do something about it and soon.
NEMETI IN SYRACUSE on August 2, 2007 at 9:58 PM
Maybe Ms. Rhodes will get Gephyrophobia which is: An abnormal and persistent fear of crossing bridges.
Tennessee Dave on August 2, 2007 at 10:01 PM
This is hilarious (or would be, if millions of idiots weren’t buying in to this BS)… usually when we beat them to it and all come out mocking them saying “blame Bush”, etc. they tone it down because they know they’ll look silly after we predicted their reactions… but it didn’t stop ‘em this time!
RightWinged on August 2, 2007 at 10:08 PM
If I thought like a nutroot I would be blogging. . .
Remember how Clinton used to always talk about the “bridge to the 21 century?” So now that it’s the 21st century, we don’t need that bridge anymore, do we? I wonder if. . . OMG. The WTC was set-up to just to create the truther movement, which was really a CIA plot to make us think that fire couldn’t melt metal. That would force to reason that if fire couldn’t melt metal, then surely metal couldn’t collapse in the heat of a normal summer day. OMG! It’s all so clear to me now!!

Sounds like Cafferty’s been hitting the firewater again. I’m so sick of this blithering idiot I could scream. Go run over someone with your car and drive off again, Jackie boy, and get the heck off my television screen.
jaleach on August 2, 2007 at 10:34 PM
That’s funny, I don’t care who ya are!!
Tennessee Dave on August 2, 2007 at 10:36 PM
Ah c’mon AP. Don’t you remember Bubba’s campaign against HW Bush? The libtards then were driving me nuts with their whining over how our infraaatsrcturrrrrre was deteriorating so badly, that we should just vote for Bubba to fix it.
Someone should ask his bimbo why that wasn’t done during their administration.
91Veteran on August 2, 2007 at 10:41 PM
We’re spending 4% on the entire military. I’d guess .7% on Iraq…
reaganaut on August 2, 2007 at 10:43 PM
Cafferty heard “bridge collapse” and thought it was “bit of schnapps.” You can imagine his disappointment.
Jim Treacher on August 2, 2007 at 10:46 PM
…because she’s a leftist nitwit, and leftist nitwits can say anything they want, possibly evening yelling “fire” in a theater (as long as it’s not some Michael Fatblob film), and thousands of other leftist nitwits will fall right in line in defending their right to say it…while Republicans go limp in the spine to do anything about it.
91Veteran on August 2, 2007 at 10:47 PM
Worse shape than totally collapsed? That IS unfortunate.
James on August 3, 2007 at 9:09 AM
One of Frankj’s commentators (blue jean preachin) wrote this:
I think I understand why the bridge fell down now….It’s all clear now. Halliburton!
So it really didn’t matter that the BOOOSH! administration told them the bridge was defective 2 years ago, and the state did nothing about it. I’m glad we cleared that up.
