Well, I guess we should just leave South Korea and let the north invade because it’s “really none of our business.”

boomer on August 2, 2007 at 11:42 PM

Um, okay. Should I apologize for being “arrogant” in going to the Middle East on a Holy Land Tour?

James 1:2-4
2 Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. 4 And let endurance have its perfect result, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

My personal favorite quote of the day:

“Let’s let them fight [each other] over there so we don’t have to fight them over here.” – Hugh Fitzgerald of JihadWatch

Please, Mr. Crocodile, don’t eat me… first!

And other ways to commit culturicide.

I thought anybody who could make horsehair into a hat was smarter than that.

Speaking out against Christianity, while equipped with a premise based on misconceptions of mission work and basic Christianity, is trendy here in the U.S. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised to see the same type of reaction in another country.

jediwebdude on August 3, 2007 at 12:54 AM

The United States has so far simply said it remains in contact with the South Korean and Afghan governments on the issue. As the hostage crisis drags on, South Koreans are increasingly questioning what they have received from the U.S. in exchange for sending soldiers to support the U.S.-led coalitions in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Ok I suggest RoK give us back 48,000 American dead, compensate the 100,000 WIA/MIA/PoW/, any US personnel injured or killed holding the peace, and the time every American has spent serving over there for the last 60 years, then they have the right to question us.

Seems like a fair trade.

“Yes, let’s pray for their safe return, only if to see them kneel down and apologize to the people for the Protestants’ arrogant and blatant behavior,” one person wrote on one Internet bulletin board

Ah that quote was nothing more than a comment on a bulletin board. It has no more relevance than this comment.

These people were courageous and wanted to demonstrate their faith in a very public manner. Kudos to the South Korean martyrs. (THEY ARE MARTYRS

Freedom and democracy at work.

These kids chose to go to an unsafe country, no one forced them. It was their decision and I’m sure they knew the dangers they could face.

Here’s hoping that very soon US Special Forces find them, safely remove them, then unleash the fury of a few Jack Bauer type GI’s, sending those Taliban to Allah and their 72 Rosie O’Dog virgins.

My prescription for such situations is harsh:

= Give the hostages up for dead.

= Kill the hostage takers.

= Make a disproportionate, excessive effort to frustrate the aims of the hostage takers.

Strategically, this will tend to dissuade future hostage takers, if they have any rational frame of reference, And if they don’t, how can negotiations with them be anything other than futile?

Parker on August 3, 2007 at 9:46 AM

They won’t be the last or only people who give their lives to promote a better life. That is the cost of holding a faith, and that is why so many in this country are afraid of confronting evil.
The MSM would not run the Danish cartoons, why? because the the fear for their lives overcame their beleive in freedom. The libs do not want us to win in the middle east, why? because their desire of protecting and defending freedom is swallowed up by the darkness and fear that they may personally have to pay a price for freedom.

And these poor souls chose a path, and apparently at least two sacrificed their beliefs for their lives. We should do everything possible to assist, but realize this is the path they took. And rather than denegrating them, should honor them…look around and see how many would rather be enslaved by tryanny than fight for freedom, and you will see that these brave young people have in them what we would like most of our leaders to have…and so many don’t.

Unfortunately, Parker has the right idea: the only one which will actually work.

It’s hard not to be stunned even by random comments posted on a bulletin board. I guess my skin just hasn’t gotten thick enough to not be surprised that someone who is sitting on his comfy couch at home in South Korea, safe and fed, is criticizing someone who would risk their life to offer humanitarian aid and hope.

Quite honestly, it can be just as dangerous living here as there, and if you’re a Christian there isn’t much worry because you know Whose hands you’re in and where you’ll be if the worst comes. “To live is Christ, to die is gain!”

So to those few South Koreans who posted those negative comments, I say bah-humbug! Grow some courage, stop blaming others for your decisions, and let those who aren’t afraid live their own lives.

Numenorean on August 3, 2007 at 11:07 AM

Those South Korean folks are heroes. They went into the heart of darkness to spread light.

We all know where their reward will be…

“Yes, let’s pray for their safe return, only if to see them kneel down and apologize to the people for the Protestants’ arrogant and blatant behavior.”

I think AP is bringing out the lack of solidarity and the moral turpitude (sp?) found in the South Korean people. We keep them safe, they protest against us and try to collude with the north. They turn against their own countrymen for rocking the boat. Let’s leave them to their own defense and devices.

Esthier on August 3, 2007 at 10:31 AM

Getting this crowd riled up is about as hard as finding porn on the internet.

The whole world should have gotten riled up at the Taliban when they blew up the giant Buddha in 2001. I will stay riled up as long as the Taliban are killing girls for going to school.
