Yep, I had a chuckle over that tidbit when he was first ID’d. He’s been on active duty more than two years and that’s all he’s gained? Someone with the brains to be a sideline writer should be able to solve the riddle of a military promotion system. That is, unless he’s been promoted several times already, just not all in the same direction.

Either way, just more evidence that Beauchamp is a knucklehead.

Was anyone else annoyed by the smug-ness of this remark. The way it reads it makes it sound like service men are just yuckin’ it up over there in Bagdad.

Who knows, maybe I’m just a little hypersensitive after that “Jose” posting earlier this morning, but they (TNR) sound like a bunch of snotty nose little weasels, IMHO.

Unlikely he’s under escort.

Nothing at this point suggests Beauchamp is violent or otherwise a danger to self or others. Accordingly, he’s probably just going around doing his job (whatever that might be).

Dean Barnett criticizes TNR for not “fact checking.”
Dean Barnett accuses TNR of “going dark” on unscheduled vacation, without fact checking his claim.
TNR’s vacation was actually scheduled ahead of time, and listed in their media kit.
Dean Barnett has to make update to his post correcting it.

Truely, a diabolical plot on TNR’s part to discredit Dean Barnett! First they try to smear our troops, and now, a right wing blogger! Who’s next?!

The nice thing (not for the investigated) is that a 15-6 investigation can go anywhere from “no action” to a hand-slap (General Officer Memorandum of Reprimand), to an Article 15… or be recommended to go Article 32 leading to a Court Martial.

I don’t care if the vacation was previously scheduled or not.

At my company, if something major comes up, vacations get rescheduled.

I think this story amounts to ‘something major’. If they were actually interested in getting to the truth (whether it vindicated them or showed that they needed much better fact checking) they would put off the vacation.

The fact that they are going to take the planned time off (even in the midst of a controversy) is just evidence that they don’t care about the truth, they just want the controversy to go away.

I doubt Mr. Beauchamp has seen any combat. If he had he would not have written such dishonorable lies about those with whom he fought. And yes, these are lies in my anything-but humble-opinion.

Good thing for him that if he does see some combat, the Marines in his unit would still risk their own to save his miserable life if it came down to it regardless of what he said.

That is the honor he does not understand and doubtful he ever will.

I can however, see a blanket party in Mr. Beauchamp’s future.

It’s actually an Army Regulation 15-6 investigation. Not “Article 15-6.”

Article 15 is nonjudicial punishment.

AR 15-6 is the procedure for informal investigations.
