German gov’t to dads: Don’t forget to rub your infant daughter’s privates; Update: Exaggerated?

posted at 12:25 pm on August 1, 2007 by Allahpundit

I’ve had no luck at Snopes and can find no debunkings on Google, but it can’t be true.

Booklets from a subsidiary of the German government’s Ministry for Family Affairs encourage parents to sexually massage their children as young as 1 to 3 years of age. Two 40-page booklets entitled “Love, Body and Playing Doctor” by the German Federal Health Education Center (Bundeszentrale für gesundheitliche Aufklärung – BZgA) are aimed at parents – the first addressing children from 1-3 and the other children from 4-6 years of age.

“Fathers do not devote enough attention to the clitoris and vagina of their daughters. Their caresses too seldom pertain to these regions, while this is the only way the girls can develop a sense of pride in their sex,” reads the booklet regarding 1-3 year olds. The authors rationalize, “The child touches all parts of their father’s body, sometimes arousing him. The father should do the same.”

The pamphlet advises parents to permit young children “unlimited masturbation” except where physical injury becomes apparent. It advises: “Children should learn that there is no such thing as shameful parts of the body. The body is a home, which you should be proud of.” For ages 4-6, the booklet recommends teaching children the movements of copulation.

Another product of the BZgA is a song book aimed at children of four and slightly older which includes several songs espousing masturbation. The song-book entitled “Nose, belly and bum” includes one song with the following lyrics: “When I touch my body, I discover what I have. I have a vagina, because I am a girl. Vagina is not only for peeing. When I touch it, I feel a pleasant tingle.”

Obligatory reading in nine different regions, according to a Polish newspaper. Until we have better proof, I’m calling shenanigans. Granted, one underestimates the German appetite for perversion at one’s peril, but even the land satirized in “Sprockets” wouldn’t stoop this low. Or would they?

In the meantime, I formally call upon Angela Merkel to renounce this treatise and let her nation’s children learn about the sex the healthy way — through text messages and web postings from Planned Parenthood about golden showers.

Update: Via one of our commenters, it looks like it’s real — and it’s already been pulled. Any German speakers out there want to do a proper translation of that article for us?

Update: Reader Niko K. e-mails:

I’m a native German. The quotes at lifesite.net seem exaggerated. The spiegel.de article’s most damning excerpts hint at parents encouraging their kids “to experiment” with their bodies, and the actual concerns were that pedophiles might misconstrue the booklets as justification for, well, being pedophiles that they are.

I can’t see it being true.

However, it would explain some things about some highly sexualized German women I have known…

I think this is actiually an extract from Mohammad’s advise to his Muslim brothers, from some Hadith, couched in between those where he gives them hints about how and where to fondle your child bride during menstruation.

What does Obama think?

Here’s the booklet – translated by google. Looks out of print. Can’t tell if it says that father’s should massage their daughters, though.

Should say – the description page translated by google – not the actual booklet.

Man this is some sick stuff. And WTF does this mean?:

The pamphlet advises parents to permit young children “unlimited masturbation” except where physical injury becomes apparent. It advises:

Well I guess they have to draw the line somewhere. Right?

…erm, there really are no words.

Germans. Go figure.

MadisonConservative on August 1, 2007 at 12:46 PM

I don’t see any reference to this on the official website of the German MFA website…it just sounds too ridiculous to be true, but then truth is stranger than fiction many times…

The pamplets definately exist, but are ‘not currently available’ from the BZgA. Hmm….

Undoubtedly because Jim Webb advocates this type of sick behavior in his novels…

You know, some items don’t necessarily need to be passed along. This information would definitely fall into that category.

However, it did yield this paragraph:

In the meantime, I formally call upon Angela Merkel to renounce this treatise and let her nation’s children learn about the sex the healthy way — through text messages and web postings from Planned Parenthood about golden showers.

… and that is good stuff.

For some reason the name Joycelyn Elders popped into my id.

Sad part of it – we are searching for a reason not to believe it is authentic. Face it, German justice went soft on a man for cannabalizing his boyfriend – because it was consentual If this booklet is real, this kicks the last leg out from under the werckage of German civilization.

Why can we get more escapees from sinking civilizations like EU to immigrate? That way we would be selecting persons who still possess consciences.

Christine on August 1, 2007 at 2:46 PM

Evil and sick.

If you have done any reading at all about child development (from people with brains and not with a leftist agenda) or if you were or know someone who was molested as a child, you will know sexual abuse is absolutely destructive to a child’s developing understanding and sense of self. Boundaries are broken down and trampled, and the pain of powerless and betrayal is immense.

Dr. Dan Allender in his excellent book, The Wounded Heart, describes the powerless leading to the path of “doubt, despair and deadness.” Dr. Allender is a Christian and he writes in the context of his faith. It is a compassionate and helpful book and I highly recommend it.

INC on August 1, 2007 at 3:01 PM

Niko K. is correct, at least as far as the Spiegel article goes. Granted, I haven’t read the booklets themselves, nor do I want to without barf bags ready, but the claims in the article you quote are a lot more extreme than what appears in the Spiegel article (and that’s bad enough as it is).

Also, in all fairness, it should be noted that the booklets were pulled immediately after a complaint was received and that the author could be facing charges for encouraging sexual abuse of children, so the powers that be are taking this quite seriously.

This is common practice for calming young children in Indonesia. I witnessed it being done in public, in the front row of a church (!). So I’m not as shocked as some, nor do i find it as hard to believe. Just as digusted as ever, though.

TexasDan on August 1, 2007 at 3:50 PM

I don’t understand how Niko thinks this is exaggerated. Catholic blogs have been discussing this for days. Gerald at The Cafeteria Is Closed, the most popular Catholic blog, knows German fluently and has translated it from the official government webpage. Here is his translation:

Once I’d finished lmao that was my first reaction as well. This was something criticised directly by Wafah Sultan on some arabic talk show. You can see the extract on the Stuck Mojo ‘Open Season’ CAIR remix (I’m still waiting on my copy that I ordered from Stuck Mojo if Richard Ward is reading this!). She gets pretty angry there about the Koran or the Hadith recommending that fathers take pleasure from their baby daughters thighs or something like that.

Sounds very much like the islamic influence to me. Then again following the ultra-macabre german doctor that did (quite popular) exhibits with (real) plastified corpses a few years ago, I do believe that they’d have come up with this even without help from Allah.

Remember, this is the same government that told women they have to accept jobs as prostitutes, and if they refuse their welfare is cut off.

TallDave on August 1, 2007 at 4:35 PM

I don’t know what to make of this, nor do I condone it, but here are a few more findings:

Fisch on August 1, 2007 at 12:48 PM

Fisch’ link describes an evaluation from 2001 of both brochures (one for the 0-3, and the other for the 4-6 yr. olds), and the findings, which (for unknown reason) were published in 2006 in Cologne by the BZgA. The initial intent of the brochures seems to have been a good one, in the absence of anything like this ever published before.
The emphasis is on education, child understanding, support, barrier-establishment, taboos, dos, don’ts.

The cons seem not to have been considered in enough depth. Both brochures were free and numerous copies were downloaded from the web. Complaint was filed now by a lady and brochures are no longer available. The time-span from 2001 to today is surprisingly long.

New edition will be released this fall by the BZgA, per last sentence in the Spiegel article.

For the 2001 evaluation 60 mothers and 30 fathers of children btw. 0-6 years were fielded. They read the brochures within around 5 days from assignment. On a scale from 1 to 7, the evaluations rated from 5.5 to 6.2, highest rated by those parents with higher education.

The best ratings were in the categories of knowing when, taking seriously and imposing barriers/taboos for children. The same for ratings on what hurts children and provocations.

The brochures not only were liked by evaluators but were deemed “applicable” and “helpful” as no other means were ever available. The evaluation stresses that young children don’t differentiate between emotion and sexuality and can easily be hurt or misguided by either.

On the web there are many forums which discussed the pros (education, source for parents, etc.) and cons (eager uncles wishing to help educate their nieces, for ex.) The brochures have been around for a long time and are now pulled due to a complaint from a lady.

Original 2001 press release for both booklets
Brochure description for years 1-3
Brochure description for years 4-6
Booklets no longer available
