British Airways solves problem for Qatari princesses who refused to sit next to strange men

posted at 8:23 pm on July 29, 2007 by Allahpundit

They had eight seats between them and they couldn’t rearrange themselves to isolate the three women?

Given the wealth of the party and the long delay on the runway, I’ll bet money was offered to the other passengers to get them to move. Verrrrry interesting that it was refused.

It’s ridiculous that it took BA three hours to boot them.

They were breathing infidel air. That has been known to corrupt Muslim women if they breath it too long

Pigskin seats.

Pork rinds instead of peanuts.

Free footballs handed to all customers.

A complimentary Koran in every chemical toilet.

Star of David design carpeting and only vodka, no water.

profitsbeard on July 29, 2007 at 8:31 PM

It was just another Muslim tantrum , doing everything they can to make the infidels bow to their every stupid whim and desire. There will come a tipping point, thye still don’t get it that we will not submit.

bbz123 on July 29, 2007 at 8:33 PM

Who the hell did they think they’d be sitting to when they booked their tickets? If it was that important, they should’ve thought about it ahead of time.

Good for BA. Should’ve opened the cabin door and kicked their ass out on the tarmac.

BacaDog on July 29, 2007 at 8:35 PM

Obviously not a majority Democrat passenger list. The Dems would have submitted. But alas… the Dems were all on their private charter Lear jets.

It’s great that people are tired of bowing to these backward, filthy-rich, low class baboons.

You can wrap them up in sheets, but you can’t sit next to ‘em.

The end of this story is yet to be heard……verrrry interesting and weird indeed.

Another suit in the works? It sounds like the things that have happened here. Are they all reading the same how-to books?

pugsly on July 29, 2007 at 8:43 PM

It could be tough. People can’t leave their kids sitting alone. And I’ve had several flights delayed because of exit row seat assignment mistakes. You have to be over fourteen and speak and understand English (in this case presumably English or Italian).

Tanya on July 29, 2007 at 8:48 PM

I am waiting for an airline to have the malkins to say we don;t want your business, go elsewhere if you want to fly commercial.

bbz123 on July 29, 2007 at 8:48 PM

It took them three hours to decide to eject them from the plane when they should have been booted immediately for the two men refusing to sit down in their seats when the jet already taxied out onto the runway.

Blake on July 29, 2007 at 8:49 PM

Its racial profiling to sit in a seat next to a muslim woman. Cair is upset that we silly westerners would dare to profile their women by sitting next to them when we should know better.

The bombers had been defiled by “smelling kafur” in the strip clubs.

I’ll be flying KuffAir the next time I travel.

forest on July 29, 2007 at 8:59 PM

From a couple of reports I’ve read, the passengers refused to trade seats because they were also travelling with someone or they just didn’t want to move.

Understandable either way. On most BA flights within Europe, there is a 3-2 seating arrangement. ie: XX XXX.

Personally, I always request the 2 side. LOTS more room, and there’d have to be a pretty compelling reason for me to trade.

Accomodating some pinhead because his women have been seated in the wrong place isn’t one of tnem.

BacaDog on July 29, 2007 at 9:00 PM

It’s very clear to me that one culture doesn’t understand the other. The question now is which culture is the one and which is the other?

Just kidd’n. If I were seated next to my wife of 40 years and some “Arab Princess” asked me to move, we would be the one culture and the Arabs would be the other.

Maybe not… I can’t imagine a pilot taking three hours to decide. Sounds like an upper management decision process to me. >

The emir of Qatar is one of the richest men on Earth. He and his Princesses can’t afford their own private jet? Oh, I know, they were just doing their part to keep their carbon footprint down. This stinks like the Flying Imams caper. I applaud the passengers who didn’t cowtow to the insidious last second demands of those barbarians.

It’s just sad that it took the British Airways Captain a full three hours on that hot runway to make a command decision. Of course, we also have to remember this is the same airlines that saw fit to demand that a Christian woman employee remove a small cross pendant on her lapel while on duty, and very nearly fired her for it were it not for the public outrage directed at the airlines that saved her job.

Montana on July 29, 2007 at 9:54 PM

I had a similiar experience when I passed through Dubai on one of my trips to Iraq. Some arab guy and his three wives came bustling, pushing and shoving their way through the security check line. They threw my luggage off the conveyor belt and put their luggage on in it’s place. I’ll admit I was shocked and unsure what to do. I didn’t say anything but I was so pissed. A few minutes later it happened again to a contractor behind me. Some arab guy shoved his luggage off and replaced it with his own. I started laughing when the contractor grabbed the arabs luggage and tossed it down the concourse. I said to the guy “what’s wrong with these people? Do they think their royalty or something?” He laughed and said they probably were but he didn’t give a damn. Made my day and taught me yet again to stand my ground.

I know, wishful thinking.

Yeah, this is definitely another flying imam thing. The paperwork for the law suit is probably already filled out.

This is just maddening to me. Kudos to the other passengers for giving them what New Yorkers might call the Bronx Cheer on their way out. Emir of Qatar…bite me you arrogant sack of pig crap. Why don’t you and your little piglet sows just head on back to your little oasis and leave the civilized world in peace. K?

pedestrian on July 29, 2007 at 10:44 PM

Sounds to me like the lazy Qataris couldn’t be bothered to book their seats in advance to suit their backward ways and simply expected the infidels to accommodate their culture. Evidently, a few train bombings makes the European’s willingness to accommodate the arrogant evaporate.

Think of what happenned on this single jet as a microcosm of what’s happenning in Europe. The Arab Muslims try to dominate the environment and succeed for a while. Their European neighbors consider different ways to appease them but nothing really works and the Arabs inflexibly insist on ruling the domain, and in the end they are expelled.

These oil sheiks have fleets of private aircraft, not only for reasons of comfort but for reasons of safety. Why were they flying commercial? A Qatari princess flying British Airways? Makes no sense. In fact, the only way it does make sense is to create another flying imams scandal.

Looks like the Italians submitted to sharia law, though.

jihadwatcher on July 30, 2007 at 12:17 AM

Why are these people flying commercial? Don’t they own private aircraft? They certainly can afford it, and it’s not like flight schools have been tunring away middle eastern students. There should be plenty of qualified pilots for them to hire.

Is it possible to express outrage over the arrogance and selfishness of these elitists without sounding like bigots?

A complimentary Koran in every chemical toilet.

Star of David design carpeting and only vodka, no water.

How outraged would you be at the suggestion that people step on images of the Crucifix and submerge the Bible in toilet water?

I don’t have anything in common with Fred Phelps or even a family of Menonites. What about those Christians who use the Bible to justify slavery or racism?

Despite our differences, I would be disgusted if people took to desecrating Christian symbols in protest of these extreme interpretations of Christianity.

It’s not OK when they do it to us. Disagree with dignity.

(And yes, I get that the Star of David carpeting was supposed to be used against the flying Arabs.)

The Race Card on July 30, 2007 at 12:51 AM

The Race Card. “Play it brother.” I’m not a christian at all and they all think I’m nuts. The arabs that is. When in their land I submit or die? Within our land they submit or get expelled, or not? Playing the “extreme right-wing christian” card is about as ridiculous as one can get. Or maybe just as naive as one can get. Or maybe just as uninformed as one can get. Maybe just as rascists as one can get. The only people I’ve ever heard or known to pull that card were as rascist as rascist could get.

Griz on July 30, 2007 at 1:08 AM

Just to correct a previous commenter… the article said they were flying British Airways business class, so the seating arrangements are 2 and 2 on the upper deck of a 747 and 2 4 2 elsewhere.

That said, if they have 8 seats, they might not have all been together and thus impossible to seperate the princesses from the riffraff common man.

Anyway, you guys have this all wrong. I would be all about sitting next to some Qatari princesses. Can we say “gravy train”?

e-pirate on July 30, 2007 at 1:22 AM

The Article was incorrect.

The Emir has his own fleet of planes and western military pilots at his 24/7 disposal, he also owns a complete 5 star airlines approaching the size of American Airlines.

The Bader klan are not direct relatives, Qatari yes, Emiri Diwan, no.

The daughters (princesses) of the Emir are accomplished and highly educated (Duke and Havard or Brown) international diplomats including UN Ambassadors who have spoken out against terrorism at the very risk of their own lives and have sponsored the Prime Minister of Israel and an Israeli Mission to their country much to the anger of their neighbors, they are a brave and resourceful people and our are biggest allies in the Middle East next to Israel.

Britain has had several of its corporations purchased recently by the Emir and this was just an insulting hit piece in retaliation.

This is not the first slanderous article by the Daily Mail they did one in its Arab Language Newspaper against the Emira and she was awarded millions of pounds which she turned around and donated I believe to British Charities

The Royal family of Qatar is a class act

EricPWJohnson on July 30, 2007 at 1:44 AM

The way I read this it was a set up. No problemo until the plane is taxiing, then it’s a get up and bully job. Designed, like the flying imams to prove a point and get their way. Guess it didn’t work out. When’s the lawsuit coming?

TinMan13 on July 30, 2007 at 3:04 AM

Why couldn’t this so-called “royal” family just charter/use a private jet? Because they’d rather demand we change our rules/customs to accommodate their ‘superior’ culture/religion.

Wouldn’t this have been all the more interesting if one of the pilots/co-pilots had been a woman?

doingwhatican on July 30, 2007 at 3:51 AM

e-pirate on July 30, 2007 at 1:22 AM

You’re correct if the flight is to a destination outside of the EU. Within the EU, (they were flying from Italy to London) the seating arrangement for business class would be 2-3. The 2-4-2 sleeper configuration is used only for long-haul flights.

I’ll never give up a coveted 2 side seat!

BacaDog on July 30, 2007 at 7:27 AM

They were not royalty, they were from a wealthy family true, but not a member of the ruling family

EricPWJohnson on July 30, 2007 at 7:30 AM

EricPWJohnson –

So you are saying nothing like this happened? That the Mail made this up out of whole cloth? Perhaps a slight misunderstanding between the passengers and the flight crew that the Mail has inflated somewhat?

I really want to play this kind of thing down the middle so set me straight here. We’re all a bit quick on the trigger when it comes to this kind of thing.

Pilgrim on July 30, 2007 at 7:39 AM

The Qatari’s are saying it indeed DID NOT HAPPEN and these newspapers have been sued in the past by the Royal Family and lost huge sums of money

look, I travel with them, all the time been doing it for years, they are the most western tolerant group out there as well as the UAE. They ride on school buses, sit in mixed school assemblys, play on soccer, vollyball teams have large international cultural events and are in a serious bid for the olympics

This was a hit piece because they just purchased the British equivalent of Kroger and the Brits are angry

EricPWJohnson on July 30, 2007 at 10:35 AM

Given the wealth of the party and the long delay on the runway, I’ll bet money was offered to the other passengers to get them to move. Verrrrry interesting that it was refused.

If they’re really that wealthy, which, traveling with such an entourage implies, why not buy out the first class seat, or, as others have suggested, fly their own plane?

Esthier on July 30, 2007 at 10:35 AM

I think (from my reading) that Eric is saying that the story’s claim:

The women, all relatives of the oil-rich emir of Qatar, Bader Bin Khalifa Al Thani,

was incorrect. Not that the event itself was misreported, simply the connection to the Emir wasn’t correct or justified.

The Bader klan are not direct relatives, Qatari yes, Emiri Diwan, no.

At least that was my reading of his comment. But I’ll admit that I don’t have the background to know all the players and names/titles that the comment uses.

BTW, does that mean it didn’t happen? Because no matter who the Arabs are, this is the part that makes the whole thing look like a Flying Imams-ish set-up:

After passengers had fastened their seat-belts and the plane had taxied on to the runway, two male passengers in the entourage got up to protest about where the women were sitting.

After
