Video: Fire in the Fox News newsroom!

posted at 8:28 am on July 27, 2007 by Allahpundit

Well, almost; it was on the same floor. From yesterday’s Studio B, a steely Shep turns to gallows humor as the flames close in. Some will survive, some won’t — and the cameras are there to capture it all.

No word on the cause but I think we can guess.

Will he do followups for the next month? Blame Bush?

Pam on July 27, 2007 at 8:33 AM

He really needs to lay off the Scotch before going on air.

Brat on July 27, 2007 at 8:51 AM

The news IS Shepard, and whatever he senses and processes.

Don Imus once commented that, “He needs to get over himself”.

He’s right.

Hening on July 27, 2007 at 8:57 AM

I know he can be irritating as heck, but I thought this was funny. He just kept going…diarrhea of the lips. And his guests took it all in stride.

(Fortunately, there was no fire!)

jatfla on July 27, 2007 at 8:59 AM

Couldn’t have been that close, his pancaked makeup would have been melting.

LtE126 on July 27, 2007 at 9:04 AM

Courage Shep, Courage.

HockeyTemper on July 27, 2007 at 9:10 AM

Where’s the cry for helicopters, Shep? We got babies in here! Baby animals, for Gods sake!

BacaDog on July 27, 2007 at 9:15 AM

He’s RoboShep.

harrison on July 27, 2007 at 9:16 AM

To use a word I picked up the other day from Allah – Shepard Smith is a “turd”.
It just gets a litle too much when he puts on one of his comedy acts. It must be a comedy act because I hear his audience (the little girl producers, directors and camera people) laughing out loud as if he was funny.
We need to get something going about replacing this ‘turd’ with Trace Gallagher, his fill-in man. He is so much better without all the crap!

OBX Pete on July 27, 2007 at 9:21 AM

Oh come on, Shep is cool. What, you’d rather have Olby on StudioB?

pilamaye on July 27, 2007 at 9:22 AM

OBX Pete on July 27, 2007 at 9:21 AM

You need to go see a doctor, you apparently are in need of a humor transplant.

doriangrey on July 27, 2007 at 9:28 AM

No, I would rather see Trace in his chair as stated above. Olby is a ‘turd’ also!

doriangrey on July 27, 2007 at 9:28 AM

I don’t need a transplant. I know what humor is and it ain’t Shepard Smith,

OBX Pete on July 27, 2007 at 9:30 AM

shep rox

trailortrash on July 27, 2007 at 9:34 AM

That was funny. I’d be runnin’. Sorry, but I like Shep.

mimi1220 on July 27, 2007 at 9:42 AM

Shep might have some ego problems, but he seems to get the job done most of the time. I kind of lost it with him when he was discussing a case where they were desecrating the American flag and he could not understand what the problem was because it was just a “piece of cloth.” I tend to switch to Glenn Beck when Shep comes on.

volsense on July 27, 2007 at 9:47 AM

I never watched him before, but I thought his reactions were a bit funny.
Course if I was the producer I would have to have a talk with him. That was fairly unprofessional of him.

Wyrd on July 27, 2007 at 10:01 AM

The “Oberman” of Fox News.

Mcguyver on July 27, 2007 at 10:28 AM

I thought that was hilarious.

madne0 on July 27, 2007 at 10:53 AM

Well, at least he had fun with it. Good on the spot humor, I’ll give him that much.

Yakko77 on July 27, 2007 at 11:06 AM

Gretchen is planning payback as we speak.

infidel4life on July 27, 2007 at 11:14 AM

I like Shep Smith. He always seems he’s just like you and me… if you and me had a god-like ego!

Ummm Hummmm….

doriangrey on July 27, 2007 at 12:42 PM

Isn’t this Hurricane Season? We need to send Shep away real soon!

kiakjones on July 27, 2007 at 12:46 PM

I was at one time a fan of Shep’s but I have gotten to the point where I tend to turn it as soon as he starts one of his rants.

d1carter on July 27, 2007 at 12:58 PM

That was hilarious. Shep is the man!! I enjoy watching when I can.

Okay, you like Shepard Smith and I don’t.

I’m not going to get in a pissin’ contest with you.

I’ll give you the last word.
I’ll give you the last word.

OBX Pete on July 27, 2007 at 1:41 PM

Shep should appear on Red Eye….

liquidflorian on July 27, 2007 at 2:37 PM

Don’t care for Shep any longer, ever since he came out of the left wing closet, but i admit that was some what funny. I don’t watch him anymore. Gibson’s show has turned into an early time tabloid like Greta, and BOR i filter for co-contributors (whorealdo). Gettin’t to be slim pickins at Fox anymore.

oldernslower on July 27, 2007 at 3:11 PM

Say what you want, but he’s still funnier than the half hour news hour.

Quit hatin’ on Shep! He’s better than regular people!

That sums it up for me.

He can be good… but sometimes he drives me nuts.

Kensington on July 27, 2007 at 6:15 PM

Good point ! ! After watching Americas Newsroom
with Bill Hemmer and Julie Bandera this morning.
I’ll take Shep ANYDAY.

Texyank on July 27, 2007 at 7:57 PM

I’ve only seen his show in clips like these. Good ad-libbing and thinking on your feet. That’s way better than someone who’d just do a deer in the headlights.

Check out the Holly Hunter “interview” for contrast.

TheSev on July 28, 2007 at 7:12 AM

Not Shepard Smith’s biggest fan, but I’ll take him over Bill Hemmer anyday.

Hemmer thinks he’s looking into a mirror rather than the camera.

doingwhatican on July 28, 2007 at 9:18 AM

I’m a fan of Shep’s. I saw this live and thought it was funny. I like how he brings us into what’s happening behind the scenes. Every news person will have their fans and critics. It’s a matter of taste on style and personality. As long as the ratings are good and the news gets covered, Shepard will be around for a long time!
