Wow, do the demos count that in 88 Bush got the young vote? I thought all they did was just veg all day. Well, some of them went out and voted back in 88.

Its nice to know that you don’t think a party needs the votes of 18-22 year olds. Go ahead, blow off the young vote, see how far it gets you. You heard it here first…18-22 year olds, your votes don’t matter.

Most 18 year olds do not know who the president is, much less the difference between a democrat and a Republican. How does something this completely ignorant make it to this site?

Bush Sr. lost because of Ross Perot. Plain and simple. Go back to watching MTV.

And I for one would be very concerned about a candidate who was too concerned with those who spend their lives watching MTV.

And once again, Clinton never got 50% of the vote. He won because of Perot. 18-22 year olds did not vote for Perot.

Kids that watch MTV don’t watch debates. Most of them don’t even know who the Vice-President is. Trust me. The YouTube debate audience, especially this far out in the election cycle, are a) YouTube junkies; b) political junkies; and c) captive audiences in thousands of hospitals, nursing homes and other institutions and businesses nationwide where the TV is permanently locked on CNN.

I agree, kids don’t watch debates, but 18+ in college do, and they also watch MTV. Clinton milked MTV for all he could, even Perot went on MTV if I remember correctly, but even republican strategists agreed that one of Bush’s mistakes was he did not take the young voter seriously and that is one thing among many that hurt him.

I was 22 when it was Bush, Perot and Clinton and that Rock The Vote crap was everywhere. Now, if the only person to address the young voters was Clinton, then in their minds Clinton was the only one who mattered. I mean after all, what would you think of a man running for president who didn’t think you were even worth addressing?

Again, every vote counts, even the young stupid 18 year olds who only watch MTV.

As for the debate, AP is right. The GOPers won’t get the same softballs the dems got. And so they’re damned if they do, and damned if they don’t.

All others have become a charade which isn’t even entertaining. Nothing useful comes out of them and the media get way more exposure than they deserve.

While the field is still coalescing and the first primary is still far away. Why not have fun with this? So many have pointed out the Dems fear of FOX, then why not have a goof the the CNN YouTube joke. All they have to do look presidential, put on yer best suit, comb yer hair, and shine yer shoes.

And they really don’t have to answer any questions, just pontificate.

They should still do it anyway because they can always side-step the ridiculousness of the question and answer with a substantive response.

George Bush Sr. blew off the MTV crowd in his run against Clinton and it cost him seriously. Yes, young people can be idiots, but if you treat them like they don’t exist, then in their minds you will not exist.
