Video: Kanye West turns white
posted at 11:05 pm on July 26, 2007 by Allahpundit
What choice did he have? He wanted George Bush to care about him.
A fine performance here from Zach Galifianakis, fresh off his turn on Sarah Silverman’s show as the deranged homeless guy driven mad by his mom’s, er, incontinence. One stray profanity means I must offer you this, your official content warning. Click the image to watch.

White redneck tractor rap…
Wrong on so many levels.
infidel4life on July 26, 2007 at 11:11 PM
I like this Kanye Video better.
Egfrow on July 26, 2007 at 11:13 PM
If KanYe West wants to do redneck, he needs to take lessons from Hayseed Dixie.
Mindcrime on July 26, 2007 at 11:15 PM
I wonder if Kayne West thinks being farmers means you’re something negative. I grew up in the biggest blueberry farming area in the country. We’ve hosted Ronald Reagan and other presidents. We’re at the center of what’s Conservative and Republican in New Jersey(which isn’t much left). We’re mostly Italian, we’re mostly farmers, and we’re also very successful at it.
Maybe Kayne is just being “creative” here, but to me it looks like he has the wrong idea of what a farmer is.
Vincenzo on July 26, 2007 at 11:19 PM
Bingo! and, Oh yeah,! George Bush hates black people and midgets!
Egfrow on July 26, 2007 at 11:28 PM
Galinfianakis is actually pretty funny. Too bad this appears to be a parody approved by Kayne.
Dirthead on July 26, 2007 at 11:32 PM
Thought I was watching Amish Paradise 2
PowWow on July 26, 2007 at 11:36 PM
who knew rupert from survivor could rap
CaptainObvious on July 26, 2007 at 11:39 PM
Hhmmm..
Earlier we had the first black President.
Now we have the first “white rapper”.
I’m get “rapidly” confused.
Mcguyver on July 26, 2007 at 11:54 PM
Humping a tractor is one thing but calling cows ho’s and the way he looked at them – yikes.
Must have something to do with West (as in coast).
Sorry to all of my west coast conservatives, you know who you are – all three of you.
On-my-soap-box on July 27, 2007 at 12:02 AM
Good one, Egfrow.
Here’s my favorite.
dm60462 on July 27, 2007 at 12:21 AM
I don’t get it…and I’m a redneck!
ritemama on July 27, 2007 at 12:27 AM
I watched part of it. Anyone have a link of it in English?
What’s a Kanye?
reaganaut on July 27, 2007 at 12:28 AM
Kabota makes awesome tractors, one of which has been in my family nearly as long as I am old.
I have no idea what the back-story is regarding this thread. Who in the H3LL is Kanye West? I haven’t listened to any rap since the early 90’s when it was still, uh, “fresh”, LOL.
FloatingRock on July 27, 2007 at 12:35 AM
Kanye West will return home to Chicago to perform at the House of Blues on August 24 as part of a benefit for his own Kanye West Foundation, a nonprofit that provides music production and creative arts education for students in underserved communities.
Most of the money raised from the Chicago show, the foundation’s first benefit concert, will go toward establishing the Loop Dreams Teacher Training Institute in Chicago next spring. The goal of the institute is to train Chicago Public Schools teachers in using hip-hop to liven their curricula and inspire students to stay in school.
Flippin great. The kids can go to Obama Camp in the summer, then Kayne’s curriculum in the fall.
dm60462 on July 27, 2007 at 12:47 AM
Galifianakis owns a farm in North Carolina. I’m assuming that’s where this was shot. He’s funny, and West or somebody in his camp must be fans. Not that West isn’t a silly goose, but I think that’s the extent of it.
Jim Treacher on July 27, 2007 at 12:49 AM
hillbillies won’t be able to use the word hoedown any more
jgapinoy on July 27, 2007 at 12:52 AM
Plus, the whole culture-clash thing is funny. I love the dancers.
Jim Treacher on July 27, 2007 at 12:55 AM
I have no idea, but I always laugh when I see otherwise normal looking people listening to rap music in their cars with the windows down and the volume cranked up, acting all ghetto and everything. What a joke. Do they realize how ridiculous they look? Obviously not or else their faces would be beat red with embarrassment.
FloatingRock on July 27, 2007 at 12:56 AM
I’m not a hillbilly, although I play one on HotAir, but I will still be using the word hoedown when referring to the Department of Homeland Security, which I call the Dingbat Hoedown Society. :)
FloatingRock on July 27, 2007 at 12:59 AM
I guess I’m showing my age, but I don’t get it.
paul006 on July 27, 2007 at 1:05 AM
That was hilarious I’m gonna go watch it again
libertytexan on July 27, 2007 at 1:37 AM
I may be missing something, but what’s wrong with that? Seems like a pretty good idea actually.
Funny video although the song is crap. Hey mama and Heard ‘em say are both much better from kanye.
crr6 on July 27, 2007 at 3:23 AM
I’ve shot and edited music videos. What happens most of the time when you have a critically acclaimed director who brings their vision of the song to the artist. Often the connections to the actual lyrics are obtuse, at best. A little artsy, a little edgy, a lot of booty and some “hood” shots. You have yourself a rap video.
I’m not sure who was on production here. But it’s not mocking country life. (Country living has become somewhat of a status symbol in the hip-hop world with the rise of Southern rap popularity.) It seems to be drawing parity between two sharply contrasting worlds.
The entire storyboard is probably an exact copy of your typical rap video. The scene setting/location is the only difference. (Did you catch the lowriding homage on the tractor?)
Funny stuff. I refuse to give up my sense of humor just because I’m conservative.

Egfrow on July 26, 2007 at 11:13 PM
That one’s good. You should google Aries Spears and Snoop Dogg, DMX and LL Cool J. He parodies all of them. He sounds more like snoop than snoop.
Pee your pants funny.
The Race Card on July 27, 2007 at 3:41 AM
With all preconceived notions shut off, liked it a lot.
baldilocks on July 27, 2007 at 4:14 AM
White people don’t care about Kanye West.
saint kansas on July 27, 2007 at 5:18 AM
Sadly, I can’t enjoy what is a relatively funny video because Kanye West is such a colossal douche. All I can think about is “why would West, a racist, use a white guy in his video?” Did he vet Galifianakis first, and make sure he’s got some white guilt or something? Funny as Galifianakis is, something just doesn’t fit, knowing Kanye’s issues.
As always, I have to point out that whites died at a disproportionately high rate, and blacks a disproportionately low rate in
Katrinalevees failing in weak category 1-2 hurricane conditions.RightWinged on July 27, 2007 at 5:18 AM
Lord Jesus, save me NOW! I think I might be a fan.
james hooker on July 27, 2007 at 6:43 AM
The video was great!
But man, I can’t wrap my head around rap music
More of a Moody Blues / Norman Brown type, myself.
TheSitRep on July 27, 2007 at 7:07 AM
Don’t worry, Pauli, there’s nothing to get. I loved the dancers.
Jaibones on July 27, 2007 at 7:55 AM
heh, Eminem meets Deliverence.
Alden Pyle on July 27, 2007 at 8:05 AM
I thought that was Vanilla Ice.
If I want hickhop, I’ll listen to Cowboy Troy.
Bigfoot on July 27, 2007 at 8:53 AM
I don’t think Kanye is racist. However I do think he has made some ignorant statements in the past.
There are worse people in the world than Kanye, and people have said/done far worse things than he. But I know how it is.
Not really a fan of his though, just like to keep my mind open.
flipflopper on July 27, 2007 at 9:33 AM
C’mon you guys this is a dis piece against people who use their life situation as an excuse to act out, use foul language and glorify (and lead) ‘gansta’ lifestyles.
Speakup on July 27, 2007 at 10:07 AM
Thanks both of you. Those were hilarious.
As for the first one, it was fine, but after Weird Al’s “Amish Paradise” the whole country folk rapping has lost its appeal to me.
Esthier on July 27, 2007 at 10:08 AM
Actually I’d pissed too if I couldn’t get my chainsaw to run any better than that.
Speakup on July 27, 2007 at 10:10 AM
Yeah, I think that’s the only joke at play here, not making fun of farmer but making fun of the idea of farmers listening to Kanya West.
Esthier on July 27, 2007 at 10:10 AM
Hmmm.
West is a pampered black kid demagoguing the ghetto mentality to stupid people of diverse races. How does an “open mind” help you embrace that?
Jaibones on July 27, 2007 at 10:37 AM
One time when I am not sorry I can’t get video at work. :)
Bob's Kid on July 27, 2007 at 10:40 AM
I’m I the only one who thinks that Hip Hop sucks so bad that I can’t even watch a joke video of it? Disco only took 3 years to die, why won’t this non-music crap die. As an educated musician I can not stand it in any form. It’s like having 3 year olds finger paint, and calling them artists. I would like to see ONE hip hop “Artist” ( Artist my ass! ) sing a simple C scale. Bet they couldn’t do it to save their life.
Masscon on July 27, 2007 at 10:43 AM
Sorry, but i’d only watch a Kanye West video if if it had Scarlett Johansson nude.
And even then i’d watch it with the sound off.
madne0 on July 27, 2007 at 11:00 AM
It really is quite pathetic. And would be laughable if the hip-hop culture wasn’t a cancer rotting our society from within.
infidel4life on July 27, 2007 at 11:26 AM
Zach G is the funniest comedian since the death of Mitch Hedberg.
mattshu on July 27, 2007 at 12:31 PM
Great, now I have to rethink my opinion of Hip-Hop and the overall creativity of that genre. That’s some crossover goodness right there.
Krydor on July 27, 2007 at 12:37 PM
I don’t get it. Kanye is so hit or miss. The song is ok, the video, eh.
His album comes out on Sept.11, the same day as 50 Cent’s, who was the only rapper to rebuff Kanye’s idiotic comments during Katrina. I hope 50 crushes him.
