Video: Hillary toady ingratiates himself with nutroots by defending dKos

posted at 9:40 am on July 25, 2007 by Allahpundit

The honor of Markos “Screw Them” Zuniga hath been besmirched so she sent her flunky, Howard Wolfson, to avenge him. It’s part of her bold new nutroots ass-kissing initiative, the centerpiece of which is attending Yearly Kos while skipping the annual DLC convention, which the AP confirms this morning she intends to do. Here’s the whole strategy in one line, which Wolfson somehow managed to croak out with a straight face:

“Unfortunately, with all due respect for you, the days where you can dictate where Senator Clinton and other Democrats go, who we talk to, are over.”

That’s straight out of Silky’s playbook. The cold front between Hillary and the nutroots has nothing to do with O’Reilly and everything to do with her own relative centrism and image as a consummate establishment politician. This is Wolfson’s hamhanded attempt, a la Silky and his Coulter fundraising ploys, to rally progressives to her side by leveraging their animosity and “resistance” fantasies towards a right-wing boogeyman. It’s the VRWC in microcosm.

Clever of Bill to read him some of their choicer comments about his boss, though. Unfair, too, but clever, and justified insofar as all Hillary shills deserve to squirm for pandering to these cretins. This one’s for you, KP, wherever you are:

Wolfson dismissed the vicious quotes as cherry-picked from millions of comments. O’Reilly should have confronted him with Markos’ 2004 “Screw them” post attacking the four American contractors who were brutally killed in Iraq.

aunursa on July 25, 2007 at 9:52 AM

Absolutely right.

Allahpundit on July 25, 2007 at 9:53 AM

I saw this last night. Wolfson considers the O’Reilly site to be an example of right wing “hate”. Just how far left does he think that makes the center?

IF the Repubs are smart–a big If, I know–they hold that thought until it can be raised, along with other “cherry picked” Kos vitriol, with Hillary her own damn self during the first nationally televised Dem-Rep debate, with a follow-up “do you support this element of the Democrat party?”

PatrickS on July 25, 2007 at 10:04 AM

I don’t think that this will put the curl back in KP’s hair, because I don’t think she is stupid enough to condone the way the kossak site is managed.

As to whether it was “unfair” to use the quotes O’Reilly did; to use one of their quaint colloquialisms, screw ‘em.

I sick and tired of being the “passive-submissive” in politics.

Wow. This guy should be a scientologist. He has quite the ability to recite preprogrammed responses and completely deflect anything that shatters his position to shreds.

Honestly though, I can’t imagine Hillary would take such responses lightly. She has a reputation for being one assertive and aggressive woman, so why would she sponsor the convention of someone who would say such things about her? What’s next? She gets admin powers at FreeRepublic?

Carl Weiss is rolling over in his grave.

I agree with Bill but I have to say, since Hotair opened the comments section to more people, I have seen comments on this website that are less than tastefull and borderline hateful as well.

Of course there is a difference between the majority of comments here and those on the dailyKos which traffic in filth and hate.

Please continue to discourage that kind of talk here.

shick on July 25, 2007 at 10:20 AM

The Daily Kos is on a mission to get democrats elected and consolidate power for the democrat party. The “hate” they “traffic in” is a coldly calculated tactic for fundraising, and stoking their readers’ eagerness to actively and affirmatively chip, bite, and tear at the foundations of decent, civilized, and fundamentally conservative American society. These people consider themselves members of an enlightened elite. For these reasons, they are a natural constituency of Hillary Rodham Clinton, who smiles upon them warmly. Watch for a video from the Kos convention, wherein they pass her hand-over-hand, rave style.

RushBaby on July 25, 2007 at 10:21 AM

Hey, if Hillary wants to hang out with people who think the military is “morally corrupt” and full of psychopaths, fine. If The Only Man Who Can Save America wants to pander to conspiracy nuts like Alex Jones, go right ahead. Enjoy your big tent, I’m sure it will not bite you in the ass in the end. *cough* *cough* Nancy Pelosi *cough* Cindy Sheehan *cough*

Jaibones on July 25, 2007 at 10:26 AM

The TBOD body language segment

Watch Bill smirk like the cat that ate the canary when he asks Wolfson to explain Hillary’s petition.

Watch Wolfson’s eyes shut for an unnaturally long time when Bill reads the “stain” comment. Almost like he’s saying to himself, “Damn!”

This strategy blew up in their face. It may win points with the nuts but it hurts with the regular folks. When you tie “committed Democrats” with the KosKids it hurts even more – LOL!

I sick and tired of being the “passive-submissive” in politics.

Ahmen. It’s like boxing. The winner is usually the guy who hits harder and/or more often. Best if you can do both.

TheBigOldDog on July 25, 2007 at 10:27 AM

It will be interesting to see the KKKosites’ response when Senator (gag) Clinton speaks at their Yearl Moonbat Swarm.
A large portion of them object to her positions her/em>.

Kos will now run all their posts through a hate speech filter. The file 13 dump will be empty.

captivated_dem on July 25, 2007 at 10:33 AM

Yes, O’R lost a big opportunity by not quoting the founder and his beliefs.
For the next year, Kos will clean up their act (as much as they can) to put on the “proper” front. More threats of banning will be issued for statements that they embraced months ago.

The Daily Kos is on a mission to get democrats elected…
RushBaby on July 25, 2007 at 10:21 AM

Just a little correction, their mission is to elect extreme leftist liberals, independents, socialists, democrats, whatever as long as they are extreme leftists. They will settle on a democrat, but just as a stepping stone for more progressive progressives.

right2bright on July 25, 2007 at 10:42 AM

He’s popular because he traffics in that stuff, not in spite of it. The minute he starts to heard those cats they will scatter and thus his power will decrease accordingly. He has a real dilemma on his hands and I bet he knows it.

TheBigOldDog on July 25, 2007 at 11:06 AM

Bill O’s strongest point was that the Kos site does not filter comments to reject the hate speech, thereby endorsing such comments.

I am curious how often comments on this site get rejected or if we, on a whole, do not post such nasty attacks.

Mallard T. Drake on July 25, 2007 at 11:20 AM

The hate speech filter analogy was meant to convey, that, after filtering out what they would consider hate speech, there would end up being nothing in the file 13 TO dump. None of their speech is considered hate….to them.

captivated_dem on July 25, 2007 at 11:38 AM

Boy, what a piece of work this guy is. These nutroots are kind of like athiest Branch Dividians; gullable, brainwashed, and without a single rational thought in their collective heads. It seems to me that pandering to these goof balls would be the kiss of death for a serious candidate.

I guess America really is on the slide.

Mallard T. Drake on July 25, 2007 at 11:20 AM

Plenty used to get cut out. I think Michelle and the boys have relaxed just a bit lately. It was hard to discuss the immigration debate without getting ugly.

saiga on July 25, 2007 at 12:11 PM

It would have been interesting if BOR had focused a bit more on the anti-Semitic diaries….er, I mean anti-zionist diaries. There probably would have been a bit more squirm factor than there was with the confrontation with the fact that politicians will put up with just about anything for possible political contributions.

“Unfortunately, with all due respect for you, the days where you can dictate where Senator Clinton and other Democrats go, who we talk to, are over.”

We had that power all this time, and no one told me?? That stinks. I know where I’d like to see them go, and I hear it’s all nice and warm, too….

jdawg on July 25, 2007 at 12:36 PM

“It is 100′s of thousands of good American citizens…”

I feel so sorry for this guy. What a way to earn a living.

Babs on July 25, 2007 at 12:38 PM

The point this guy was trying to make was that there are hundreds of thousands of bitter, delusional, unhappy poodle abusers at the DailyKos just like him.

A Hilary administration will be full of guys just like him. They won’t be able to go 6 months before they start with the illegal wiretaps, IRS investigations and FBI file perusing.

peacenprosperity on July 25, 2007 at 12:45 PM

Saw this. This guy did Hillary no good. He came off like s left wing nut case. O’Reilly finally realized that the guy was losing his own arguement all by himself.

pat on July 25, 2007 at 12:49 PM

A Hilary administration;
Sec of State Howard Zinn
Sec of Defense Noam Chomsky
Sec of the Treasury Robert”We represent the Lollipop Guild”Reich
Sec of Education Ward Churchill

And just to get Bubba’s goat, very special assistant to the president Carmen Electra

peacenprosperity on July 25, 2007 at 12:55 PM

“Unfortunately, with all due respect for you, the days where you can dictate where Senator Clinton and other Democrats go, who we talk to, are over.”

Who dictated? BOR used to practically beg Hillary to come on his show. This is nothing more than the Clinton machine payback for Bubba losing his temper at the Wallace interview and The Path to 9/11. Have all kossacks toed Markos’ line, which requires no public contact/acknowledgement of poor Cindy so the Dems can pretend they’re not radical leftists?

“Unfortunately, with all due respect for you, the days where you can dictate where Senator Clinton and other Democrats go, who we talk to, are over.”
Oh, really? When you have the number one rated cable news show in the country, you have the ability to dictate A LOT. Putting pressure on states to pass Jessica’s law, getting Jet KOS, I mean Blue to pull their sponsorship, etc. A serious democratic presidential candidate is going to eventually face the fact that they will have to step into the No-Spin Zone for some hard questions. John Kerry had the guts to do it, even though agree with NOTHING he says.

RMCS_USN on July 25, 2007 at 2:14 PM

Seemed to me that H.W. came on the program with an attitude. But the insigh he gave us, or rather the reinforcement in the belief the Clintonian philosophy to shut down opposing voices or voices which expose the truth. There is no “cherry picking” of the comments Bill O. was reading. LGF, Hotair, Newsbusters, and others point out the steady stream of hatred that festers in the hearts of the Kossacks.

madmonkphotog on July 25, 2007 at 2:35 PM

I wouldn’t vote for Billary if she was the only candidate running for president. But this strategy of befriending Kos is a complete turn-off.

It underscores her plunge into depravity. And for what? She is easy the front runner in her party without the Kos crowd.

What’s next? Billary donning pink attire or boobs not bombs?

Captain America on July 25, 2007 at 3:22 PM

I wish that O’Reilly had told America to check out the Daily KOS site for themselves. This would let everyone witness for themselves the words of the extremists who the Democrats are pandering to.

Democrats lose elections when they succeed in getting their message out. I fully endorse the democrat politicians in that particular effort.

DannoJyd on July 25, 2007 at 4:50 PM

Wasn’t Kos supposed to get rid of that pesky senator from Connecticut? Guess no one learned anything from that…

TinMan13 on July 25, 2007 at 6:02 PM

I wouldn’t waste any energy going to the kos site to see the bs that they daily puke up. Wolfson is a toady just following his orders like all the clintonista peeps.

Bill would have done better if he truely understood the way the nat/blogs work. The boy’s shootin’ bullets with a bow.

P.S. I loved the dude’s reaction when he heard the dress remark.

MirCat on July 25, 2007 at 6:39 PM

NOTE TO: Bill O’

you need better researchers to confront such polemical weasels… who know how to pick not just cherries but the malignant prick-ly pears that Kos and his koslings spew.

(Kos’s ‘sympathy card’ to the murdered U.S. contractor’s in Iraq- e.g.: “Screw ‘em!”, is central to this smarmy s.o.b.’s dysthos… the sick form of “ethos“.)

profitsbeard on July 25, 2007 at 8:45 PM

She is easy the front runner in her party without the Kos crowd.

With them, she splits with Obama. Smattering of Edwards supporters. Defectors from all if Gore enters.
